What the heck!?! The Bulls were up only by 9 or 10 pts halfway through the 3rd quarter, and they end up winning by 38!?! My goodness!! That was some turnaround in the latter stages of the game!!
Amazing the defender that Rodman was. During his career he succesfully guarded the greatest perimeter player ever (Jordan) and arguably the most dominant interior player ever (Shaq).
Love Rodman at 2:56! What a player Hardaway was! 7:32 WOW! 7:47 WWWOOOOOOOWWWWWW!!! 8:59 Commentator: I don't John Salley can dunk anymore...just keep watching!
I tel ya, dennis rodman really was the key to the bulls winning 72 games, in this game alone, he pulled down 20 rebounds, he had more rebounds than Shaq....
Shaq was always paired up with great guarda(penny, kobe, wade). Shaq at times was unstoppable, but always selfish... Penny will always be one of favorites. Too bad his injuries killed his career
that orlando team was a beast and couldve won multiple championships if this bulls team didnt exist, they were just victims of the extraodinary circumstances at the time; probably the reason Shaq left
dennis rodman, was the reason why this team was able to win 72 games, and he should have been mvp of the finals against the sonics, he won 2 games that series w/his defense, energy, hustle, and physicality
@Slightlystoopid1990 I knew the bulls was going to win this series, the media pinned penny hardaway the new jordan after that regular season victory against the bulls towards the beginning of the season, millions got caught up in the hype, horace grant shut it down after game 2, brian shaw was cool after game 3...lollll
It's funny (if you're a Bulls fan) how Michael Jordan and the Bulls derailed the championship aspirations of several teams in the mid-90s. Indy, New York, Orlando. Some of those teams (Orlando) disappeared. Others (Indy, NY) were put into a holding pattern for several years. And while they made the finals later, the makeup of the league had changed and the western conference teams had gotten much better. Had Jordan not returned, what would have happened 95 - 98?
I appreciate the classic uploads of these games, so these Kobe flag waving motherfuckers can see greatness, because they will never see it again. Ron Artest is todays Dennis Rodman. Orlando was talking all that shit, gave Jordan a full year back in the league, another championship for Jordan.
This is exactly how jordan and the bulls would've handled the lakers. Shaq and Penny were every bit as potent as Shaq and kobe. The only difference is Phil jackson. Kobe didn't rise until Phil jackson and his staff took their talents to L.A. Kobe is very fortunate.
@bullrose5 i'm a tell ya...I remember saying after the bulls lost to orlando in 1995, if they ever got rodman, they would win 70 games, on the real, dennis rodman should have been mvp of the 96 finals against the sonics, he won 2 games himself w/his hustle, defense, energy, rebounding, and mental game....
@SaMiAm702 This Bulls team is the greatest of all time in my opinion. Jordan from 95-98 had a fundamental sense of the game which finally matched his athleticism. No team stood a chance.
The Bulls never should have gotten rid of Ray Clay. This is the best intro ever.
I miss the 90's Bulls pure basketball. Jordan made scrubs into outstanding role players off the bench. I still get the chills when I hear and now the starting line up for your Chicago Bulls
What is so cool about MJ is that he doesn't show off after he makes a great play. He gives the impression of total control, like all of that is normal to him. No chest or fist pumpin', or screaming like a primate as some of the stars in the game today do. He's all business, and you understand that he's the GOAT only by watching his body language on the basketball court.
@ErasmusTheJew And after the games for interviews he was always dressed in a suit and very professional, very business like. He was the greatest on the court and off.
i agree with 23flight23 while orlando partied, jordan took that summer off and bulked up with weights and his main focus was orlando. even though they were even 2 games a peice during the regular season i just new this was a new challenge for mike and he wasnt gonna let orlando walk over him like that. im glad he beat penny up. all penny got is his sneakers for memories thats it!!!!!

Man I love the relive of this series here. I skipped work to see this series haha.
I remembered Orlando was very corky especially Nick Anderson. He said something like..."We let the Bulls win their 72 games and we take them out the play-off just like last year" Because Nick stripped the ball off MJ the last playoffs.
Then this 1st game rematch, MJ strips him instead. Revenge is sweet... AWESOME GAME!!
well, Orlando can say whatever the fuck they want, but in 1996, they got swept all the way down to the ass, the statement was Orlando Magic is nothing but just high school basketball shit.
@Shermstyle you're reading too much into my post. I never said anything about bench players. My argument was simply that the team overall was vastly improved which they were (72-10 compared to 47-35 record the year). They were vastly improved with Rodman, and obviously a fresh Michael Jordan that was going to be with them the whole season. They went from 10th in the league in offense to number 1, the team was better adjusted, and so forth.
if you pause the vid at 7:50 you can clearly see that MJ didn't get the ball off in time which it should of been a shot clock violation.. makes you wonder about the refs dont you think?
@ARZCARDINALS Pause it again @ 7:50 and see that the ball is out of his hands. It really is and he doesnt touc hthe ground either, so no shot clock violation or traveling. And the worst NBA officiating happened during the 2002 Lakers run vs the Kings. Kings up 2 games in the series and lose 3 straight to get eliminated. Google Donaghy and see that the refs had a gambling ring and forced a game 7 and lost. Thats a ring the Kings will never get, even if they only needed jsut 1 mroe game for V
@ARZCARDINALS U don't see the whole play in this video. It was an inbounds pass from Kukoc, with 1s to go, and MJ just caught the ball and shot the fadeaway. Since you cannot see the tenths of second on the shot-clock, it is a common thing for the refs to allow a catch&shoot play if there is 1s. I saw the full game and it turned out there was less than 1s, so it seemed to be a violation, but they didn't look at the clock, they just allowed the basket because MJ did a quick catch&shoot.
@ErasmusTheJew well ive never heard of that before unless the game time clock is the ONLY clock in the game that will show tenths of a second.. but never for a shot clock.. Ive never heard of that before and I'm Suns fan.. every time I see a shot clock violation is during a air ball or if a player fails to shoots it before the horn sounds...to me thats cheating if your going to allow a tenth of a second for a player to shoot the ball..its adding extra time and that my friend is cheating
@ARZCARDINALS Good refs will communicate with players what they will allow and what not. When this ball was out of bounds, there was "1" on the shot clock, but they didn't know if it was a full second, or just 0.3s. So SOME refs which communicate with players, will tell them what they'll call and what not, cause it's always hard to tell live, and at that time they didn't have instant replay. if you look carefully, none of the Magic players protested, so everybody knew it was a catch&shoot.
You know its funny that people talk about how none of the Bulls teams never faced a dominant center in the NBA finals. Well if you think about it the biggest hole in that argument is that they were beating a lot of the dominant centers on there way to all those championships. During their runs through the Eastern Conference they knocked of Shaq, Ewing, Seikaly, Mutumbo, Morning, Smits, and Daughtery. Now I know not all these guys were dominant centers but they were good enough.
Many People Regarded The Orlando Magic As The Team Of The Future. The Bulls Made Quick History Of That Future. And Not Only Did The Bulls Sweep The Magic, But They Did So In Such A Manner That It Sent A Message To The Magic That There Would Be No Future, As Long As They (The Bulls) Were Around.
kOrOne79 If you play bball at all, you have to check this out - 50inch vertical[dot]com - It's a specialized training program that will def make you begin dunking and you don t even need to go to the workout room , it's optional!
Orlando Magic @ Chicago Bulls | 1996 Playoffs | ECF Game 1: Orlando's worst nightmare ekjbldgsbf qlfrtlvjzeadsedvw #kOrOne79
penny hardaway is BEGGIN to be on the heat, i understand he wants a ring, but so does every other player. he says he just wants a minimal role, so hes basically sayin "let me ride the bench and get a ring" disgrace, he just put a black eye on his legacy, i guess shawn kemp should come back and play for the heat as well, what a joke
kOrOne79 yo, I increased over 15 inches on my leap by finishing the workout at 50inch vertical[dot]com. now being able to dunk is something I don't have to worry about in a game now, haha
kOrOne79 geeeez, just what else is there to say?. Everyone considers themselves a basketball fan all study the way to dunk, I only of late finished the coaching system at (50 inch vertical [dot] com) - I wish I did it sooner (I am barely 5'10!)
it was sweet seeing the buuls make that come back in 96 with 72-10 and beat the shit out of orlando. i had a beautiful smile on my face that spring. and not to mention what a great summer. here in nyc.
kOrOne79 sweet, reminds me of someone I know - me - ha. I'm 5 8 and I am able to dunk. I followed the real nba workout plan that real nba players use. Check out the program at - "50inch vertical (dot) com"
kOrOne79 I'm only 5 6 and I dunk nonstop. I m in my high school's ball team and my dunking intrigues everyone (esp the girls lol). It was truthfully extremely easy, I just used the nba training workout over at "50inch vertical (dot) com" - anyone can do it
yo #VIDEOPOSTERID#, I am practicing to expand my jumping ability by following the workout system over at 50inch vertical[dot]com - and so far gained like 8-10 inches thus far but I'm even now a a little away from dunking the ball It's still my second week so far, any advices?
Orlando Magic @ Chicago Bulls | 1996 Playoffs | ECF Game 1: Orlando's worst nightmare
Scotty Mu'fuckin Pippen, Dennis Mu'fuckin Rodman and Michael MU'FUCKIN ALMIGHTY Jordan...
oh yea can't forget bout my boi, the undercover killer, The Silent Assassin...STEVE MU'FUCKIN KERR...THE BEST PURE SHOOTER AND 3PT SPECIALIST EVER IN THE NB MU'FUCKIN A
The only thing that could have made this season better is if they'd finished the sweep against the Sonics in the Finals and tied the record for playoff winning % as well.
72-10. They actually should have won 74 games, but two late season home losses screwed that (bad jobs by the refs).
The Bulls were undefeated at home all that season until late home games against Indiana and Charlotte, with controversial calls by the refs late in both games.
Remember just watching how badly certain referees like Hugh Hollins wanted to see these great Bulls lose as many games as possible? I still hold a grudge against them along with a handful of other veteran refs for that.
kOrOne79 my balls, what else is there to say?. If you play basketball, you need to all learn how to dunk, I just recently done the training program at 50inch vertical[dot]com - and now I can dunk easily (I m only 5 7!)
Orlando Magic @ Chicago Bulls | 1996 Playoffs | ECF Game 1: Orlando's worst nightmare
damn... look at the great defense of those times.... and damn again... penny could have been the next mj without his injuries.... he destroyed like anything in that league at that time!
I remember Nick Anderson said in 1995 to MJ.. "He's not the old Michael Jordan".. well the following year Jordan prove that he's still the old and much improved Michael Jordan..
@kikostrum thank you while nick anderson career went into the tanks the magic talked mad junk which aint wise with a mj in his prime cuz you know they were gonna get smacked with the karma stick big time the bulls werent playin that year 95 was 95 plus adding Dennis great move
The Orlando Magic talked a lot of shit in the media during and after the 1995 playoffs, but that was nothing compared to them having to face Jordan at full strength in 1996.
@23flight23 the magic were feeling themselves way too much after that considering how they did in the finals looking at you nick the brick but all i heard from that group was how human they made mj look and i'd like to thank them because of that series mj trained like a beast in the summer and owned the league again lol
@23flight23 yea without horace grant who was the key to beating the bulls, but overall even with horace i am sure magic would of lost the series against this monstrous team of the bulls 72-10 record
Look at that Bulls defense from 4:38 to 4:45. Just relentless defensive attack. Starting with pressuring the dribble, swiping and poking as they pass, doubling, recovering to the open man, swiping again, closing the passing lane slowing down the pass and finally picking it off for the break away dunk. Man if only the BUlls today would play this kind of defense. Instant contender
What the heck!?! The Bulls were up only by 9 or 10 pts halfway through the 3rd quarter, and they end up winning by 38!?! My goodness!! That was some turnaround in the latter stages of the game!!

ErasmusTheJew 1 year ago
@ErasmusTheJew well ive never heard of that before unless the game time clock is the ONLY clock in the game that will show tenths of a second.. but never for a shot clock.. Ive never heard of that before and I'm Suns fan.. every time I see a shot clock violation is during a air ball or if a player fails to shoots it before the horn sounds...to me thats cheating if your going to allow a tenth of a second for a player to shoot the ball..its adding extra time and that my friend is cheating
ARZCARDINALS 1 year ago
@ARZCARDINALS Good refs will communicate with players what they will allow and what not. When this ball was out of bounds, there was "1" on the shot clock, but they didn't know if it was a full second, or just 0.3s. So SOME refs which communicate with players, will tell them what they'll call and what not, cause it's always hard to tell live, and at that time they didn't have instant replay. if you look carefully, none of the Magic players protested, so everybody knew it was a catch&shoot.

@ErasmusTheJew ahhh well I say, thats the most logical thing ive heard on here.. nice answer!

And Not Only Did The Bulls Sweep The Magic, But They Did So In Such A Manner That It Sent A Message To The Magic That There Would Be No Future, As Long As They (The Bulls) Were Around.

kOrOne79 If you play bball at all, you have to check this out - 50inch vertical[dot]com - It's a specialized training program that will def make you begin dunking and you don t even need to go to the workout room , it's optional!

penny hardaway is BEGGIN to be on the heat, i understand he wants a ring, but so does every other player. he says he just wants a minimal role, so hes basically sayin "let me ride the bench and get a ring" disgrace, he just put a black eye on his legacy, i guess shawn kemp should come back and play for the heat as well, what a joke

kOrOne79 geeeez, just what else is there to say?.

It was truthfully extremely easy, I just used the nba training workout over at "50inch vertical (dot) com" - anyone can do it
barrylee007 1 year ago

The only thing that could have made this season better is if they'd finished the sweep against the Sonics in the Finals and tied the record for playoff winning % as well.

didn the bulls in like 70 games this year??
thats crazy
Denairo2224 2 years ago
@Denairo2224
72-10. They actually should have won 74 games, but two late season home losses screwed that (bad jobs by the refs).
The Bulls were undefeated at home all that season until late home games against Indiana and Charlotte, with controversial calls by the refs late in both games.
The Bulls could have (should have) been 74-8.
sportjames23 2 years ago 2
@sportjames23
Remember just watching how badly certain referees like Hugh Hollins wanted to see these great Bulls lose as many games as possible? I still hold a grudge against them along with a handful of other veteran refs for that.
EvanConover 1 year ago
@Denairo2224
They went 72-10 in 1996. Unbelievable. When they went to different cities to play, it was like rock stars coming to town. They seemed invincible.

kOrOne79 my balls, what else is there to say?. If you play basketball, you need to all learn how to dunk, I just recently done the training program at 50inch vertical[dot]com - and now I can dunk easily (I m only 5 7!)

The Orlando Magic talked a lot of shit in the media during and after the 1995 playoffs, but that was nothing compared to them having to face Jordan at full strength in 1996.
23flight23 2 years ago 34
@23flight23 the magic were feeling themselves way too much after that considering how they did in the finals looking at you nick the brick but all i heard from that group was how human they made mj look and i'd like to thank them because of that series mj trained like a beast in the summer and owned the league again lol
sportstalk23 1 year ago
@23flight23 yea without horace grant who was the key to beating the bulls, but overall even with horace i am sure magic would of lost the series against this monstrous team of the bulls 72-10 record

Look at that Bulls defense from 4:38 to 4:45. Just relentless defensive attack. Starting with pressuring the dribble, swiping and poking as they pass, doubling, recovering to the open man, swiping again, closing the passing lane slowing down the pass and finally picking it off for the break away dunk. Man if only the BUlls today would play this kind of defense. Instant contender
