  • There is no doubt the influence is there....The thing is majority of the young people do not act on it, as they can be rational about what is right and what is wrong...but then thr is the 1 percent or less, that cannot.....they may be sick, or abused in thr childhood or whatever.....but they do get the inspiration from thr....

  • Monkey see, monkey do?

    Maybe...

  • What a complete and utter idiot this guy is! Correct me if I am wrong but didn't he just admit "Examining this material for two years" If the so called material he speaks so dilligently about influences people so much that it would make you go out and rape kids and women. Then how many kids and women has this PHYCO raped and killed! Two years and no excuses PAL!!!

  • dr dobson is so so spot on.very smart man.

  • Correlation & cause are different . There's a correlation btn porn and sex crimes or alcohol & crime. But how do you explain if porn is a billion dollar industry that billions of people don't act the way B did? Popper's disconfirmation principle is useful here: if there's no way to disprove D's theory there's no way to prove it. Crime is opportunistic. Burglars might not have burgled if there were lights on; does darkness "causes" burglaries? Are we to censor PSYCHO or Greek plays?

  • Holy shit. Where can I find the kind of porn Dr Dobson is talking about?

  • Sociopath-a person, as a psychopathic personality, whose behavior is antisocial and who lacks a sense of moral responsibility or social conscience.

    This is Ted Bundy.

  • Watch Teds facial expression. He talks about the murders and how badly he feels while smiling...in a couple of scenes he looks like he is about to break out laughing. What he is saying and what his face is conveying are disassocialted...i.e., he was lying like a rug and pulling everyone's leg. He is making fun of your Dr. Dobson.

  • Dr. Dobson is brilliant and I believe spot on. I believe there is a correlation between violence in the media and real life violent behavior. However, and this is a big however, I believe in the freedom of choice. Meaning don't illegalize any of this stuff (violent porn, horror movies, violent video games) but punish violent offenders severely (death sentence) and leave alone those who enjoy violence in media but don't act on it. It would mean a higher percentage of crime but that's my stance.

  • Brilliant conversation here.

  • I agree with this guy, people are just afraid of what one can become but like he said it works different on people

  • I agree with this guy. You only have to see in the U.K. all the young kids talking and dressing like black American gang members and stabbing each. They are of course copying gangster rap stars that they see and listen too. There is no doubt about it.

Like he said - companies would not spend billions on product placement and advertising if we were not directly influenced by what we see in the media.

  • Gotta say, I find this whole interview absolutely shameful. Dobson is using the actions of a serial killer to push his own right-wing agenda on censorship. On the surface it seems like a positive thing, to be presenting this newfound "cause", but the link is so unbelievably weak that all it leaves behind is a gross downplaying and (implicit) justification of Ted Bundy.

  • The psychologist guy with the glasses may look kinda dumb but hes actually really smart

  • The guy asking the questions looks like he could be Ted Bundy's dad.

  • Stop looking for stupid reasons for this stuff and why someone does what they do. People need to just know what is wrong and what is right. It doesn't need religious guilt or anything else. Simple self control. When someone does not control themselves, we remove them from society.

  • @patm1969 shut the fuck up this is how it works:

A mentally ill person sees something like this and desire is born, they want to do it in real life. Now if the person weren't mentally ill, they have feeling inside their heads that said " NO this is something that can't be done in real life because it will hurt others! "

but in a serial killers case, the individual is a sociopath, he don't care, so with desire comes action.

He might know what is wrong and right, but he don't care.

  • Thumbs up if you've never even seen a "porn shop" in America, just on the internet. Porn shop indeed, may as well build one next to a blacksmith and a place that sells buggy whips.

  • just another fucking nut job rambling about how he justifies being a fucking nut job

  • The guys who hang around porn shops are driven by sex. Pornography is the outlet. But that's not good enough. Porn can be attached to an entity that they can apply blame. Killers like Bundy are driven by sex and at that level it's their responsibility and their decisions which is something none of them will admit. Its somebody else fault not theirs.

  • I agree with Dr. Dobson that there is a correlation between this type of violent pornography and the commission of violent acts. My question, though, is what type of person gets addicted to this type of pornography in the first place? I'm 45 years old, and I have used pornography for most of my life. Through the internet, I have access to any kind of porn I want. Yet I have never had the slightest urge to see a woman injured or bleeding or cut up or killed.

  • This psychologist is exceptionally insightful and makes excellent points. After having watched Ted Bundy's interview, I could not help but conclude that, despite Bundy's obvious argumentative/persuasive techniques (constantly anticipating the objection, frequently directly addressing Dr. Dobson, etc.), he was not seeking sympathy. He was simple tacking this complicated, unbelievably shocking personal reality that he was a serial killer. I noticed how he constantly used the word "harm," not kill

  • Comparing buying candy and killing people is pretty stupid.

  • what a great vid but only 7000 ppl managed to watch the whole thing.

the argument against porn here is too convincing. you dont have to venture too far out of redtube to get some nasty stuff. s&m is probably more common than most people think. and i understood it was mostly the violent and/or rapists that would reproduce back before the wise man.

  • women being beaten, broom handles being stuck into their body cavities and being humiliated......Sounds fuckin great! where can i get some?

  • As much as all of you here try justifying it, all your efforts are in vain, pron it is simply evil.

  • Advertisers "spend billions of dollars" on movies, magazines, films etc which are designed for adults!! People are so quick to shout about how children are being exposed to violence, sex etc and blame the companies, manufacturers etc and yet the accusation should be based against those who ALLOW children to see this sort of thing! Why are children watching things like Halloween or porn? Because they can and they are not being deterred, in the home or otherwise, from seeing this kind of thing.

  • What is Dobson trying to assert to further his career objectives? He's saying porn causes serial killing instead of innate sociopathology? He's saying without porn, sociopaths wont kill? Get real with your absurd and HIGHLY MANIPULATIVE Christian agenda. Its disgusting and Dobson should put a bullet through his own brain for the shameless act he has committed here.

  • I'll bet there are ALOT of serial killers and murderers who come from repressive Christian or religious homes. THAT'S more pernicious than porn.

  • @whackawhack Check out the prison profiles-98% Democrats and street thumpers-broken homes and undirected!

  • I would think a pretty small segment of people that watch porn watch the throat slitting, beaten and whipped, violent porn. And that stuff is illegal anyway. Most all people who watch regular hardcore porn would be sickened by the violent porn Dobsons describing, not drawn to it. For people crazy enough to actually enjoy that stuff, yes, i dont doubt it can be influential to possibly cause it to be acted on...but its already illegal, what more can be done? make it double secret illegal?

  • do you people not know who ted bundy is? the self styled master deceiver. but the interviewer does make several good points. people who are exposed to graphic violent depictions of bizarre sex defeinitely get addicted and need to fufill their weird fantasies.even though bundy was intelligent he wasn't as smart as he thought he was. in addition to the fact that he was a pathetic freak with no control.

  • Something has to be wrong with you to begin with for porn or alcohol or something like that to act as a catalyst for murdering and raping people for a thrill. It doesn't begin or end with the external influences, something was wrong with Ted to begin with to attract him to the "Detective Magazines" and other outlandishly gross material that he says fueled his 'fantasy life' to such a degree of obsession.

  • THIS IS BULLOCKS, IF YOU HAVE ALL YOUR LIFE READ AND WATCHED SUPERMAN MOVIES, WHILE BEING DRUNK YOU WILL HAVE THE COMPULSION TO GO, TO A TALL BUILDING AND JUMP BELIVING YOU CAN FLY, IS THAT COMPULSION SO POWERFULL TO MAKE YOU FORGET ABOUT GRAVITY????? OLNY SOME ONE WITH A SCREW LOOSE WILL ATTEMP SUCH THING. TED WAS LIYING TRYING TO SAVE HIS LIFE....

  • @empresario101 Your Superman analogy is a bit of a red herring. Bundy had plenty of loose screws. Sex in nature is inherently violent. In many animal species the males fight, often to the death for mating rights. Women tend to prefer violent men or at least atmosphere of violence: professional athletes, men in the military, politicians, strong, aggressive alpha males, men with power. And many women secretly enjoy being treated roughly by men.

  • @Guts01 Males fight with males for females in nature. There is nothing more coward than attacking a women or a child. That is what Bundy did. He is such a pussy he would have never tried to fight a male. There is nothing , no good argument to defend this behavior.

  • @Guts01 Had it occurred to you that maybe women do not go for stronger, aggressive men because they want to be treated roughly by those men; but because they recognize those strong men as ones who could ensure their own survival, and also ensure that their stronger genetics are passed on to their children as well??? It sounds like the more valid biological analysis than just "women like to be treated roughly by men" I don't mean to put you on the spot, but think about it.

  • @Prayforthewolf I complete disagree with that, that is a joke.

What kind of a women says "Oh look at that guy! Hes big and strong im gonna go make him my lover and have children with him because hell protect me and pass good genes to my children" -_-

    What happened to character?

  • @Guts01 Or rather, you said that women secretly enjoy being treated roughly by men. But that's still completely arguable.

  • @Guts01 Annnd I left out "many" it's important for me to know that you said "many women" and not "all women" Hahaha! xD I think my eyes are just playing tricks on me whenever I read text now. You'll have to excuse me, I write a lot of essays and I have to stare at text for so long... =/

  • pornography is disgusting

  • @Arschbit

not everyone watches weird wife beater rapist porn, you know

  • @MeesterCrumpet

Ted must have watched some pretty freaky porn.

  • @q1111w Ha! Youre funny!

  • This is a really interesting interview and i really appreicate you posting this.

Its pretty bad how things can influence i learned a fair amount here.

  • What great content...........Great video!! Thanks Jeremykyle for sharing this!!

  • @jonmichael02302 Yes-I agree! This is essential viewing for anyone interested in how complicated and f..ked up we are as a species!

  • Why would a movie masterpiece like Halloween influence anyone negatively? Could´t it be that it inspired people to do something great? I mean, Dr.Dobson is doing horror documentary himself by making this interview with Bundy. The same people who likes horror fiction will watching his interview.

  • @PeterRoeder31

That's not entirely true. I'm not a horror fan.

  • @WSWarthog Why are you interested in Bundy´s case then?

  • @PeterRoeder31

Two reasons: the case for/against censorship and to try and understand something about what motivates people to get off on harming others.

  • "In fact, in this case, they're dead wrong"

Ahaha, see what he did thur?

  • @Tommat194

    LOL Nice Tommat

  • I can't believe that amount said yes... . I guess they were students who only thought about themselves. Rape is fucked up. In my opinion, it's not far off far off murder, in terms of a crime. Doing that to someone obviously ruins their life.

  • It's unethical to show people porn? :(

  • @spoofer20 I can't pay my damn rent...I'm a young Ol man....Muddy waters is teaching me the blues and I have no food.....do I desrve rent?

  • it's good they examine to find a reason to why people are "insane", but really, it seems they are always wrong and just target with what "they" don't like. Charles Manson admitted it was the beatles that influenced him, and the beatles sold over millions of records, why aren't there more murders? and porn causes murder? millions of people view porn daily, i think we would have more Ted Bundy's. A few rotten apples just spoil the whole bunch....

  • excellent video. I dont think Bundy is neccessarily denying personal responsibility for his actions by blaming it on hardcore violent pornography. But merely saying that it aided his obsession with violence. Its more likely Bundy developed a passion for it either through actual physical experiences or possibly self made fantasies. I see nothing wrong with consentual adults enacting violent fantasies. However each person is responsible for their own actions whatever their influence.

  • This guy gives psychology a bad name.

  • People that bought candy after seeing a movie just felt like having that candy, prolly 'cause they like eating candy. It wasn't a subliminal zombie type thing. lol, people just thought, "oh I'd like that." And those that bought the candy were a small percentage.

People that're influenced by films, and violence in films, to commit violence are just violent people who might say, "I'd like to do that," because they like to cause violence. It is not a zombified type thing.

  • Dr.Dobson is an uneducated fool.
