  • I get this way about hospitals, occasionally I have a dream about getting surgery done or something and it's absolutely traumatizing.

  • This is like the connection I have been trying to make to theists for a long time now. How their claims of "feeling" their god while in church or whatever is just as irrational as their "feeling" of ghosts/demons when scared and alone. Of course a lot of them do believe they have been in the presence of ghosts or demons. So often it is lost to them.

  • I'm afraid of Michael Jackson, because I saw him at an early age.

  • So, basically, you used your fiancee as bait for the zombie.

  • The scariest recurring dream I've ever had came after I watched The Shining for the first time. I'm always in the same hotel with all white walls and floors, walking towards an all black room with red doors. Every time I open the door there's always nothing but a statue of a blank- faced man in the room, but when I turn around there's one behind me, and then I turn again and the first one is closer, and it goes on until they both are standing over me and I wake up.

  • @YoungNickJames Don't blink.

  • I've had zombie nightmares, they're the worst. I also use to be afraid of clowns for a while after watching that one movie called "it" with the crazy clown that goes around killing everyone.... watched that movie when I was like 5 and it messed me up bad :P

  • One of my many recurring nightmares is Leatherface from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies in my house. No one is there but him and I and he knows I'm there. He's looking for me and I'm hiding but eventually he finds me. I run out of the house barely evading his chainsaw to find a melee weapon of my own in my hand. I try to fight instead of running but always end up with Leatherface sticking his chainsaw into my neck while I watch bits of flesh and blood fly out in front of me.

  • I once had a dream where i was lying in bed, it was all dark in my room. All of a sudden i heard the handle o my door turn very slowely. As if it took forever, as i opened my eyes, i saw the door slide open and in walked a short figure, holding a chair, very casually. The figure put the chair down infront of me, and sat on it. At that moment i noticed what the figure was. It was a disfigured, mutilated sort of alien. At that time i woke up. I was too afraid to roll over and see if it was there.

  • Paul, you don't know the half of it. I used to be deep into the whole religious mindset. I went to a Southern Baptist church. I know exactly the type of paralyzing fear you're talking about, only I would have to say that fear in religion is much more real. Undoing it in me was one of the darkest times of my life.

  • I've definitely had this happen before

  • I am afraid of clowns because my cousin and I watched "it" at an early age.

  • Every time I have a nightmare, I have to deal with at least 15 minutes of that shit afterwards.

  • My nightmares often involve who I can and can't trust. Thinking a loved one is real only to realize that they are only a murderous doppleganger of them.

  • That happens to me alllll the tiiiime! Sometimes I'll wake up from sleep and think that someone's in the house wanting to kill me or that someone's going to shoot out the window and I have to lie reeaally still so the bullet doesn't hit me.... But I can be like that during the day too. I always think there's land mines in particularly soft ground that I walk on, or if there's a car in front of my house I always assume they're out to get me and run into the house really fast.

  • I know i came a few years to late, but i had something like this happen to me. But instead of a zombie, it was the "Phantom Mud Hand"

  • I think this sounds like sleep paralysis. That's when your brain doesn't come fully out of sleep and you can't move your body and you're still kind of dreaming.

  • im afraid of zombies cause my dad let me watch him play residant evil 2 when i was young

  • Comment removed

  • My nightmares are always zombie related too.

  • Uncanny Valley ftw o:

  • Sounds like sleep paralysis. You wake up but you can't move and it feels like a malevolent presence is in the room.

  • @jquiets No it doesn't.

He was unable to move becouse he was so afraid that something would kill him if he did.

Sleep parylysis when you are unable to move when you wake up, which can cause fear.

Inability to move caused by fear is not the same thing as fear caused by an inability to move.

  • @marcus8374 THANK YOU SO MUCH. I HAD NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO IDEA THAT'S WHAT HE SAID. I REALLY CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR HOW HELPFUL AND NECESSARY YOUR COMMENT WAS.

  • @jquiets You're welcome.

  • That happened to me once when I thought a serial killer/burglar broke into my house. There was a thunderstorm outside my window, and the rain sounded like an opening window. scariest shit that ever happened to me.

  • I've had nightmares about the slender man

  • IDK but Ive woken up a few times just crying like a crazy person. My pillow drenched in tears, my hear pounding. But the second I realize I'm crying I'm so fucking confused. Because I have no recollection of any dream at all, let alone a sad one. This has happened to me multiple times, and it sort of freaks me out.

I don't know what I have to cry about, but I wonder if maybe I do... and just doing it in my sleep involuntarily could be some way to actually let it out. hmmm, I have no idea. Weird

  • What happened to you sounds like Sleep paralysis. Check it out on Wikipedia for a good explanation of what it is. Sleep paralysis has happened to me on several occasions and very similar to yours a paralyzing fear of some sort.

  • @jroshau but he was awake when he had his paralysing fear, i know what you mean but this isn't sleep paralysis because i've got it. :)

  • You should play "Dead Frontier."

  • I'm a Taoist and i'm able to naturally induce ludic dreams, where one realizes that they are dreaming and they can control their dreams. To be honest, I usually just have sex with my wife in my dreams :P. Sometimes, when I lose control of the dream, It turns into a nightmare where I believe that there is a spirit outside of my door that will kill me if I don't return his sword, and I have no idea wtf he's talking about and I usually end up getting killed by the spirit :(.

  • @chocolatedonut31 does it feel real as reality is when you awake while your in these lucid dreams?

  • I also have an irrational fear of zombies, but the fear isn't powered by a nightmare, but my own imagination while I'm awake doing my mundane tasks. I work an evening job while my wife works during the day. I get home a little after 1am, still wired, excited to be out of work. ... ... Things go bump in the night ya know? I'm the only one up and I'll be in the shower. That is where my horrific imagination kicks in. I just see it go down and I can't stop the images.

  • @HoloSkull Then I let out my fear and anger on L4D2.

It helps and hurts at the same time =P

  • I never have nightmares but my most interesting dreams are always about a zombie apocalypse. Stuff like my school uniting in an army to take out the zombies, me and the smartest, strongest, fastest, and best marksmen I know joining in a group to survive, me gathering as much knowledge and information as possible for our survival and rebuilding society, etc. Dreams can get pretty interesting, but also extremely frightening.

  • Ah! I totally have zombie nightmares too!

Mine are usually more subtle though. Lie eating brunch at the zombie family's nice, suburban home and feeling so, soo freaked out by the way they kept staring at me and not eating their brunch.

Anyway, I had a zombie-induced panic attack after watching the remake of dawn of the dead. The idea of fast zombies really, really freaks me out. To this day, when I lock my doors at night, it's not murderer or rapists I think about.

    It's zombies.

  • My nightmares always involve one creature, and in a recent one, I was being chased around my neighborhood by some fucked up thing. And I run into my house, lock the doors and hide in my closet. I think I'm safe but then I look to my side and see this face, this fucked up round hairy face with beady eyes and a twisted smile, it covers my mouth to silence me and I wake up. How's that for fucking crazy?

  • Ironically though, I ended up spending the rest of the night in the living room, trying not to go to sleep, else I'd get my limbs torn apart and my innards eaten by cenobites and the undead and...the ironic part was that I was watching a Hellraiser and zombie flick marathon, so stupidly, I was fueling my own irrationality.

  • I've had a similar nightmare, though it was during the night after Halloween and I was watching some horror flicks because, Well, I'm a dumbass. Well anyway after I was forced to go to bed, I started dreaming about a similar situation where me and my classmates from highschool were barricaded inside of a classroom, he doors were barricaded and the windows were too high for the zombies to get too, though, turns out that zombies were the least of our worries, so to speak...

  • When my dreams are really fucked up, I usually just wake up and think "Wait, that's fucking retarted!" and go back to sleep right away.

Nightmares usually bore me because some part ob my subconscious self knows that this is a dream and it's just my brain fucking with me.

  • I dreamed I was a time traveler, and it was possible in Earth's outer orbit. I had two crew members; some guy and a girl. We time travel and things go wrong. We end up in a random era! On top of that we seemed to slip through time and space at random. One moment we're in the 80s, the next we're in the 60s. The last 'time slip' was when I woke up, but I was laying in bed freaking out and thinking, "Now what?! How am I going to get home?!?" It took about half a minute to regain my sanity.

  • That was totally you in the elevator. You were gonna have to kill yourself.

  • once i was just having normal dreams (i dont remember what they were about) and randomly a skull face that looked like that iron maiden guy, eddie, just randomly popped up and screamed and scared the shit out of me. that was the only time in my life where i woke up and immediately sat up in bed without meaning to.

  • It's called sleep paralysis. It happens to people sometimes and they claim to feel a "presence" in the room, which they usually pin on ghosts or aliens. It's never happened to me before, but it sounds like that's what happened to you, accept in your case it was a zombie. Creepy stuff.

  • It's Velociraptors for me. ;)

  • Worst dream i've ever had was also one of the simplest. I was standing in the middle of some dark place I couldn't really make out, and I was surrounded by hundreds of apelike creatures, all staring at me. I couldn't really see what they looked like though, all I could see was their glowing red eyes, hundreds of pairs of red glowing eyes all staring at me.. It lasted for barely a couple of seconds and I woke up, but it was the single most terrifying thing i've experienced.

  • I thought at first you were describing sleep paralysis, but no, SP is WAY more fucked up than that >_>

I've had dreams like that before. There was one where I was watching the news with my mom, totally normal, boring dream, but one story came on about something bad happening to a woman. I don't even remember what it was. But it showed her face and I woke up screaming. I can't even describe what she looked like, but it's etched into my brain, and I still get nervous when I think about it.

  • I very rarely have nightmares, i think i had like 3-4 in my entire life. Thing is when i have one i wake up so damn scared that the feeling can carry on throughout the rest of the day. Once i had that nightmare in which i heard the knocking on the door and i just opened them without even checking who's on the other side because i was expecting my mom. As soon as i did that i had this horrying feeling that i knew i'm fucked. My zombified mom jumped from behind the doors and bit my face off.

  • Too retarded to actually remember a specific nightmare I had, but I have definitely felt this before. I remember two years ago, when I reverted from Christianity to atheism, how scared I was of analyzing my own beliefs. The ONLY reason I had been a theist so long was because I was too fucking scared to question. I was too scared to burn in hell. Don't know why I ended up questioning it, but I did, and that's what led me to my rationality.

I guess I was just tired of being scared.

  • I always have a hard time seperating dreams from reality, but I don't dream much nightmares.

However, when I was younger I was scared to death of redeads from Ocarina of Time. I always saw them standing in my room, slowly approaching my bed. I could see them so clearly. From I was 6 till I was 11 and got my loft bed I learned to sleep under the covers, so I couldn't see them. I can't believe how I could sleep like that, since when I try now I will have trouble breathing, but I did it.

  • dude. i never have good dreams. im usually fighting/being chased by something. Like on dream i was fucking fighting raptors & predators, horror movie villains, another dream had a t-rex, another had that puff the magic dragon trying to eat me. im so happy i dont really dream any more. I sleep and wake up. But every now and then, a effing nightmare will pop up. i miss being a kid and having cute fun/funny dreams.

  • Super late comment, but not so long ago I had a dream that there was someone trying to access information in my brain, or something. The dream itself was weird, but not really scary.

The unnerving part was that when i woke up my dream wasnt quite finished with me, so I still heard people commenting that I had woken up too soon, and that I might find something out too early. I was dead sure I was losing my mind, or at least garnering a better understanding of schizophrenia.

    scary shit.

  • I had a nightmare back in middle school where a spider in my driveway jumped up and bit my friend in the neck. Huge fucking spider, like a foot across. I remember seeing him holding his neck and there being blood, and I knew he was pretty much dead. Then I tried to run but I couldn't. Legs caught up in the sheets or something affecting my awareness? I have no clue, but that's what made it even scarier. I woke up in a pool of sweat, and for at least a week I was afraid of spiders coming for me.

  • I had something kinda like this once, the dream lasted like 1 second, and it was just a ragdoll kind of pulling itself onto a stool, and it was really sudden. And I just shot up from my bed and I couldn't sleep for the rest of the night. I don't know why it scared me, or why I couldn't sleep after that, but hey. Your mind fucks with you.

  • i know exactly whats his on about when i was like 10 and was still christian ever time i got scarred at 2 am i kept saying they cant get me jesus loves me they cant get me jesus loves me but when i was 11 and was an athiest i just told my self if chuckys real i have a shot gun.

  • i had this once, but i dont remember my dream, i just slowly woke up and i just knew something was standing behind my bed, i was so sure. i couldnt even breathe cuz it might hear me >.< i also felt paralyzed, i couldnt bring myself to move at all. i have no idea how long it lasted but it felt like forever.

  • It sounds like you woke up before sleep paralysis wore off. It happened me once with a nightmare too. Its scary shit. Then after a few moments it wears off and you can move again.

  • Sounds like a hypnagogic hallucination.

I've had a couple, they're scary as shit. I had one where my mind was sort of split between a dream and seeing my actual room. In the dream two people broke into my apartment and were searching for me to kill me, and I was in bed and awake. I was physically paralyzed and was trying my hardest to move, but couldn't move.

They were getting closer and closer to my room and it finally ended and I was able to get up as the dream part just faded away.

  • Whenever I have a zombie dream its usually me in a truck mowing down zombies while slayer music blasts out of my speakers

  • I've been in the same situation as you before Paul. It was Zombies with me as well. Only i've been there tons of times. Fourtunetly my rational brain has grown stronger since then.

  • i use to have pain in my dreams, and when id wake up the pain would still be there and i would be paralyzed, one time i even felt someone on me. and i would be so scared id shake so hard the bed would vibrate, i thought i was possesed like the exorcist.

  • would these be the traditional shuffling slow moving zombies are the new stupidly fast abominations that film makers see to love nowadays? lol

If it makes you feel any better I went to see The Grudge 2 at the cinema (I hadn't seen the 1st one) I watched up to the point were the kid walks into the room that's wallpapered with peoples faces and walked out, got on the bus home I looked up and no word of a lie the guy in front of me was an albino, I jumped out of my seat screaming holy shit

  • This video scared me more than most movies I've seen. You're great, Paul, you should be a writer or movie director or something, you really have the potential.

  • you strike me as a guy who would protect his missus if she was threatened, yet you woke her up to see if the thing would attack her first.

i guess that shows how big that fear was huh?

  • I also get totally freaked out by zombie dreams. I have this ability to lucid dream, so my dreams are pretty damn real. I usually experience five senses. But I love being scared, and zombies scare me. I share the same sentiments with you- only zombie movies actually scare me.

But my nighmares, I define as dreams of school, or of family members being hurt by people.

Maybe thats why I find these dreams more horrible. Im sure most will agree, that humans are by far the worst monster of them all.

  • Wow. Zombies don't scare me but your dream fucking did.

    How can you remember?

Any kind of dream i have, nightmares or others, I can't recall more than little scraps of what happened. Its more like a synopsis of it when i wake up. That sounded crystal clear. Shit. Was that elevator part in any movies? It should be. God damn.

  • I had a dream where I was in a massive dark room with a single bath tub in the center. The bathtub was full of water and inside it was an old man. He greeted me warmly as I climbed into the bathtub with him. He then ejaculated and we toasts to something unrelated. He then offed himself with a pistol and I chuckled very calmly in reaction to this. Then a woke up.

  • Fuck I'm going to go to bed in like 3 minutes.......

  • A few years I was sleeping on a couch in my house in the middle of the night and suddenly awoke with an extreme fear in my mind. I think I may have had a nightmare but I remembered nothing of it, only the fear that was still on my conscience and which had me completely stunned. I just lay there on my side with my eyes closed shut for minutes, then it all passed. Thinking back now, I think I might have had a passing heart attack that night.

  • ...and was no longer in sight I sat down in the middle of the parking lot put the barrel under my chin and pulled the trigger it was so surreal I felt the bullet enter my mouth I tasted sulfer and gunpowder felt the bullet rip through my brain and demolished the back of my skull at that exact moment I woke up sweating and breathing hard it is the only dream I have ever had that stuck with me It was more real than real and I have never had another one like it.

  • Oddly enough I had a dream like that only it was just me and my girlfriend none of my family or friends survived...she had a shotgun I had a rifle and we were fighting off zombies and running to the parking lot at our appartment to get in our car and drive somewhere safe just as i opened the car door a zombie was sneaking up behind my girl and at that moment I scrambled over the car and pushed her out of the way...and I got bit I told her to leave me and she did once the car left

  • Wow. That is moving. It scared me! I'm watching this at two on the morning and I start to have this weird feeling when you talk about the elevator coming up. I am going to have nightmares tonight.

  • Hhm, I don't really think that you could say that fear is the motive for religion. There is a lot of diversity in the area of religion, and in spiritualism in general. There is a lot more going on there than irrational fear.

I'm surprised that you didn't make the obvious link. You were paralyzed by fear because your instincts are your evolutionary survival mechanism.

I don't think that spirituality will ever be marginalized, religion maybe, but spirituality is too intrinsic to our experience.

  • sleep paralysis its freaking horrible.

  • Playing Left 4 Dead much? ;)

  • I had a similar dream, but I was alone. I was in my sister's house, but no one was there; I saw on the TV that there was a zombie apocalypse, so I started searching for supplies and my family; I was particularly worried about my baby nephew. Eventually, I found my sister and saw that she was a zombie and had to kill her with a baseball bat. It shook me after I woke up, but mostly because of the fear I felt for my nephew after realizing my sister had become a zombie.

  • I had a dream of walking through a dense and dark forest, full of dark greens and pasty yellows, and suddenly a clearing appears ahead. In the clearing was high, evenly cut grass and a tiny ramshackle house made of rotting wood. There was a small porch on this house with an old brown rocking chair and an old women. Suddenly, my view zooms up dramatically to this old woman's face. Her mouth drops open, revealing itself to be at least 4 times normal size, and just screams insanely for 10-20sec.

  • I have had experiences like that. For a whole 2 or 3 years, when i was young,Almost every night,I think it was cause I watched night of the living dead 2,but afterwards it wasn't cause I was afraid of zombies,I don't think I knew what I was afraid of anymore,Anything I guess, but I overcame it with God(not trying to convince anybody, this is what I feel is true)I heard a voice..."Don't be afraid Andy,I'm here with you."you can pass that off as a trick of the mind or whatever, but I'm 100% it was God.

  • I have zombie nightmares similar to yours very often. When I wake up from them I also feel completely paralyzed with fear.

  • There is nothing to be feared, just understood.

  • I actually have this really weird thing going on with my dreams where I'll have a bad dream about a fairly mundane fear, like my car breaking down, or marrying someone who isn't right for me, or suddenly owing the IRS some insane amount of money, what have you, but then, when I wake up from the dream, regardless of the contents, I"m afraid of fucking zombies. Just zombies. Like they're this placeholder in my brain for things I don't admit I'm afraid of in the real world. Who knows.

  • I used to do that under the covers thing all the time. I rarely get nightmares now though.

  • just don't play zombies on COD then. lol

  • I feel bad but I laughed so hard because my brain is the same way! I'll wake up in the middle of the night and think something scary is in my room and because my brain is stupid it will think if I hide under the covers it won't get me. XD

  • Sleep Paralysis sounds fucked up....

  • i had a nightmare that a serial killer and his wife were trapped in a zombie gorefst, mostly just a slideshow of zomie killings and pas urders but it gave me the shackys

  • Has it occured to you that the corpse in the elevator might have been you?

  • my nightmares are usually about waking up in a room without a way out

  • When i was a kid i had a dream that a scorpion was in my parents bed, so at 2 in the morning i when in and woke them up :p

  • shortly after my 3rd girlfriend after 18 broke up with me i had a dream that someone or something was tearing my door away slowly but surely and when i realized it was my girlfriend i woke up and i thought that there was someone there but i knew there wasnt anyone or anything just me

  • I have had this kinda dream.

It's mainly one of those cliche ones where your most loved one dies in the most horrific way in front of your eyes.

But I wake up from this dream and I call her (Because we are not in the same place at the time) and I must have left at least 100 messages on her phone and I was crying and hoping to god she was okay. Turns out she forgot her phone that day and fate was just fucking with me. But yeah, I was scared to death that she was gone... *shrug*

  • Haha "As reasonably safe as you can be in some post apocolyptic city with a bunch of flesh eating corpses wandering around".

  • According to what you described I would say that you experienced sleep paralysis. It occurs when the body awakens from a REM state but body paralysis continues. Causes are sleeping upwards, irregular sleeping schedules, increased stress, sudden environmental changes, and awakening from a lucid dream. Hope this helps.

  • I think you meant "Not figuratively beat them off."

  • Fortunately in most cases, after waking up, I cannot remember anything of what happened in my dreams.

  • One time when I was home alone, I was in the basement, and I thought there was a vampire or other horrible thing behind me. I knew 100% there was nothing there but me. But I had this crazy feeling there was a monster following me.

And when I was a kid there was a commerical on TV with a vampire in it. And the setting was so normal that I couldn't go to sleep that night. I thought there was some blood-sucker standing in the corner of the room. Even though I knew there wasn't.

  • I have woken from a nightmare and been absolutely paralyzed, too. I tried to explain the event to a friend, but was scarcely able. This video is the first time I have heard a similar story from anyone else. It is NOT a pleasant experience. I was so acutely aware of the room around me that I thought I'd go crazy with fear. I don't recall now what I had dreamt about, but my paralysis was due, like yours, to carrying the fear of the dream straight out into reality.

  • Common experience

    Google it

  • i hadn't had a nightmare when it happen but it like when your drifting form deep sleep and REM that i wake up a little and i swear i thought i say like a guy in my room (suet) and i couldn't move i was like close eyes its not there not there then i was scared to open my eyes in fear that his face would be like right in front of me..scare as hell..(not really) but still it was freaky!

  • It would really suck if the zombies were sprinters...

  • Scary fucking dream!

  • shit. fucking scary. haha

  • I was afraid of dolls coming alive lol

  • @wexerguy90 This fucking fear ruined my childhood

  • haha, theirs like 3 refrence's to sex or masturbaition in this video. Lol

  • One of my favourite dreams are of zombies. I used to have them really often thanks to will power. I had them chasing me and banging down on walls to get to me, etc. That fear I find so exhilirating. That rush. But I don't consider that nightmares, more like fun. Nightmares for me are of school, and family members dying or getting hurt. My partner getting hurt, or I can't find her no matter what. That's a nightmare for me. Boring shit. But bring on the zombies.

  • I have worse dreams. I have dreams about hurting my family and i sometimes wake up at night with such bad anxiety that i cry, im so afraid that something in my unconciousness will take over and do these kinds of things to my family. I've seeked help for this.

  • I've had a few very very weird and frightening things happen to me. One time I was sure the blankets were being pulled off of me very very slowly by something in the room and I couldn't bring myself to get up because I thought it would attack. I felt the blankets being moved but they never really did..it was weird.

  • Reminds me of being a kid scared of dreams and mosnters lol. That shits crazy.

  • You wake up when dreams stop making sense. When the zombie was standing there - was something out of place?

But i had something like this too. I dreamed of a burning corpse thing screaming in torture.

  • My bedroom is in the basement of my house, and there is another door to the office right outside my doorway. I remember one time I had a nightmare and woke up and was terrified that Jesus (I kid you not, Jesus) would come out of there in a cloak and shit and stand in my doorway and yell at me in a fucking scary ass voice. Also, one time my cat was meowing and woke me up during the night and I swear to god I thought it was that kid from The Grudge in my house. I almost shit my pants.

  • I can make the death rattle sound.

  • Re: I woke up because i saw hell in my dream. We all know that that makes no sense, because there is no hell.

  • yeah that happens to me sometimes.

Especially when you're by yourself and you're too scared to scream or move and it seems like it lasts forever.

  • Shit like that happens to me like once a year. It's always about aliens. The skinny, big headed, big eyed, bastards. I never dream about being abducted or anything, just that they're in my bedroom. I don't even believe in aliens but the fear, like your zombie fear, is just crippling sometimes. I'll be afraid to roll over and look cause I'm convinced that there's a few of em staring at me with those fucking eyes. I never thought to compare that fear with Christians fear of god. Great point!

  • I had to favorite this video. Simply awesome. I havent actually had a dream like that, but I do have completely irrational moments at night. I cannot, to this day, sleep with any part of my body sticking out over the edge of the bed, because theres a moment just before i go to sleep where I know for certain that there is something on my floor that's going to bite that extremity off.

But the five stars is for the comment about the paralyzing, crippling fear present in religion.

  • WOW...

    It's just like Fallout 3

  • I would definitely say it was sleep paralysis. I've had it a few times. Scariest shit ever. The hallucinations are incredibly real.

  • I have had that happen once. There was something at the end of my bed. Look a lot like a shade from the card game called magic the gathering. it was bent over and looked like it was eating something. Now I heard when you are asleep, you cant read things, so I turned to one of the boxes I had, and I could read it.

I jsut layed there, unable to move and so scared, the thought of yelling for help came to my mind, but I was to scared to do that even.

  • Yeah stuff like that happens to me sometimes too...

You are half asleep and half awake, pretty much... And scared shitless. And you usually see something scary even though you can pretty clearly see your room with all the objects in it.

  • What's creepy to me is that something almost exactly the same happened to me in virtually the exact same circumstances.

However, I was much younger... Not to say that being older would make it any less scary.

  • Sooooo, this DID turn into a campaign against religion lol. Love this story Paul. Tell it again!

  • Watch it again.

  • Hmm, that could work...

  • omfg the same thing happens to me... but alot.. like at least 3 or 4 times a month.. its just horrible, i think now.. omfg i'm so stupid why wouldnt i just open my eyes? but when its actually happening i have no control lol. im thinking to myself while it happens "stop being a pussy nothing is there" but it always takes 10 mins to finaly gather the courage to open my eyes or get up and turn on my light....

  • actually, i had a very similar experience pertaining to what you're talking about in the video. I was watching the manchurian candidate (govt conspiracy movie) with a friend, and during the end i went off to sleep (cuz i watched it before) for 5 min. i didn't have any dreams that i remember, but when i woke up, for a good 10 seconds, I thought my friend is a government agent trying to kidnap and brainwash me into killing people. for 10 seconds. I was scared shitless. irrationality indeed

  • i suggest playing resident evil. you'll feel much better. just don't lose. haha

  • lol

  • I had once a dream of trying to run some dark monster and I just couldn't run. I moved so slow it finally catched me and I was still in this nightmare like 3 seconds. When I woke up I was freezing...

  • i dont have nightmares anymore. i used to, then i fought back. i mean i dint run from the monsters anymore i attacked them. one time i got so pissed i woke up cussing out some grim reaper dude.

  • I had a similar dream like that. When I woke up I was so fucking sure that a zombie was outside my window staring at me, that I didn't move or go back to sleep until the sun rose and revealed that it was a fucking tree.

  • Than you'll love the Resident Evil games. Go ahead and play them.

  • was it one of those slow zombies or fast ones? if it was a slow one they are retarded you can beat them to death with a rubber dildo and i had something happen to me where i though some sort of monster or zombie was watching me sleep and i froze for an hour then final dove towards it and it turns out it was my fucking dog LOL

  • same thing happened to me!

except i imagined my friends making soap...

    but i knew they werent.

    its weird.

  • You know what, I almost envy your dreams because at least they seem fairly linea. If that dream had been mine I guarantee that at some point one of the zombies would have turned into a moose with ballet shoes on or something. lol.

  • i had a really scarry dream once, where i had to cut poison out of my arm with a razor blade... and when i woke up i had to check my arm to make sure it wasnt cut up... o.o

  • i h=used to have zombie nightmares a lot... but i kicked their fucking asses!!! so i wasnt scared of them after that..... they got me a few times though...

  • fuck that story scarred me

  • Are you saying you were "paralyzed with fear" figuratively, or were you literally unable to move? I'm just curious cause I've experienced both.If it was sleep paralysis, i sympathize with you. I get that all the time and it's fucking terrifying. With sleep paralysis it's normal to believe there is something watching you and sometimes even hallucinate. I've seen some crazy shit. One time Al Capone was standing in the corner of my room scowling at me..I get auditory hallucinations too. I hate it

  • I cant relate to the zombie part however, when i was younger i had reoccuring nightmares where i would wake up and do that same thing you described. I would be so afraid to move i wouldnt move, and i didnt move for so long that my body would go numb. I had a few dreams that had this same result. I havent had a nightmare since .. since i learned how to wake up in dream. (which happened b4 i was a teen) Im curious, have you had lucid dreams b4? Thats where the fun is :D peace out

  • I had an incredibly realistic Zombie Nitemare once, that Drove me to research sombies and zombie survival online for a day straight- But it served a purpose. It gave a 4 day long conversation in a situation where other conversation would have been horribly akward.

  • I don't have nightmares, but I know the irrational feeling you talk about. One time I was home alone and seriously, the noises all the tiny parts of y house make at night can scare you to death. I seriously thought for a moment somebody had broken in or something.

Other times (not recently, but still) there is this weird feeling of having something follow you that in fact is not there, something in your head that just screams "get the heck out of the basement" or the like. Scary stuff.

  • wow that is a really good point!

  • Fear is a powerful thing... I'd have to agree with you about fear is a driving force for religion... thanks for sharing that with us..

  • You have experienced something that is responsible for most tales of aliens kidnappings. There is a phase in the "paradoxal" sleep when some people have an accidental commotion in the brain leading to the lack of motor functions, that means they are physically paralyzed, they are in alert because it's a dangerous situation so they think they are conscients but they are still sleeping, usually it comes with a sensation of having the legs and body locked by something heavy ...

  • strange noises and the belief that there is some presence watching you, pple are terrorized by their dream as if it was true. Sometimes people wake up with a guttural screaming. A japanese scientist is actually able to start that experience during the paradoxal sleep just by an electric impulsion on the right area of the brain at the right time. The dream adapted to the phenomenon depends on your cultural environment, it can be a witch an alien or a zombie.

  • It is called "Sleep-Paralysis". Gogle it you'll find descriptions.

  • " It is called "Sleep-Paralysis". Gogle it you'll find descriptions. "

Yes, you're absolutely right. I emailed Paul a little information about this.

From what little off-research I was able to do, it has to do with the cholinergic nervous system being a little bit off that one time.

I've also reproduced the effect semi-intentionally several times. The hallucinatory fear is actually semi-manageable! =)

  • I know what you mean; I've had dreams like that as well, it's really powerful and terrifying.

  • first video i have seen of you, I like it. I wish i had vivid dreams like you, only on occasion i can remember bits of mine.

  • looks like you tripped balls on DMT big time

  • You should watch the movie "Scanner Darkly" there is a scene in it that is a lot like your little episode. Maybe seing it would help you deal with the nightmare. Spooky stuff!

    Nice vid btw...

  • O shit dude! Zombie apocalypse+Sleep paralysis has to be the fucking scariest shit in the world

  • Damn I wish my dreams were that cool =(

  • I have had a similar feeling. Except mine was actually caused by religion. I dreamt that i was actually in hell... and when i woke up i was so scared i couldn't even move. I was a Christian at the time, but I am free from that fear now :)

  • Irrational feelings can indeed be very strong. Religion thrives not only on irrational fear but also on other irrational feelings. Just like you felt the presence of a scary imaginary zombie, some christians become convinced of the presence of a loving imaginary God. Religion is a whole mess of irrational feelings.

Watch NephilimFree's videos on Warfare of the Spirits (my favourite is part 3) to see a christian guy that reinterprets his nightmares as spiritual experiences.

  • i only dream about hot chicks with dicks, i envy that you have such fierce nightmares

  • The same thing happened to me, almost word for word, it was a velociraptor, and I was just waiting for about an hour, just *knowing* it was there, But you see what I did was I realized it wasn't there and used the perfect chance to convince myself it was there, and have a pretty good thrill, using my irrational brain for my ends and not vice versa...

  • I sometimes have those irrational moments when I have high fever and a nightmare at the same time. Once I woke up and literally thought my room was a cargo pod of a space ship that had just exploded, and it was barely holding together. Of course I knew it wasn't true, but similarly I had that other side screaming !!!we're all gonna die!!! non stop.

  • I have dreams that i don't remember but i wake up scared and have the same feelings as you.

  • I remember being real small and the movie "Burnt Offerings" was on. The witch looks at someone and they went flying out the window. Since then, I've been afraid of flying out a window.

  • I've never had nightmares as actualized in my head as that one, but I have seen my fair share of scary movies that have triggered my irrationality for a few hours.

  • I have zombie dreams quite frequently as well and they freak the shit out of me but once i got pretty high and i kept thinking that fucking little kid from the grudge was in my room as i was trying to go to sleep. HAHAHA. Freaky shit.

  • fucking zombies

  • I hate the zombie dreams...seriously, the worst
