  • I love this song !!! Big Orange Juice fan - I was told I looked like Edwyn Collins at the time ... LOL ! Saw them quite a few times in my 80s Heydays, they even came to my university around '85. I've got a live version of this on VHS which they performed live on BBC's 'Something Else', I think in '82. I was in the audience with my friends, and can be seen once or twice from the side, looking very young with a very long fringe !!! I'll put it on as soon as I can get it digitalized. ;^)

  • and consequently....i have also seen orange juice a number of times. it is so good to see that so many people know what a good band is

  • Orange Juice even now at 44 years old send shivers up my spine..magical stuff

  • Yeah, or anything Norman Watt Roy does...

  • I'd forgotten about these people. It's kind of like a glossed-up version of the Go-Betweens, isn't it.

  • @HeadlandRoad both bands are greater than greatness :)

  • @freudastaire I guess. It's probably silly to compare, but the Go-Betweens say much more to me than Orange Juice.

  • quite simply the best album ever recorded..... as fresh today as it was on release!!!

  • @luapdan Ths album is so good it is STILL ahead of its time. I went to see orange juice in Liverpool in 1984 and it was a big disappointment due to the behaviour of the scouse meat heads, Collins lost patience with them and curtailed the concert. But wow what a masterpiece this album is!

  • @widlad7 I agree totally !!!

  • Orange Juice freshened up the post-punk scene. They made fun "in" again. No, I didn't say that, I just read it in Uncut.

  • best album in the rock music history

  • Then it wasn't raping, you enjoyed it.

  • Love Edwyn Collins,great song,awesome group

  • It sounds so much like several Aztec Camera songs

  • @reggaerox08 it's so much better than any of the Aztec Camera songs. They're good, this is awesome!

  • this music feels good

  • @HippieHappyTV try the associates. more fun

  • @JacobHeader Tons of people praise the Associates: the cure, the cocteaus, even bjork. but i just dont get them. any particular album you would recommend.

  • @BahmanG the affectionate punch is a goodie

  • @BahmanG: The Cocteau twins 'cherry coloured funk' or 'Oomingmak' are great songs; 'Isobel' is my favourite Bjork song.

I would have thought Orange Juice fans loved the Cure though. No accounting for taste, mind.

  • I'd recommend Mixed Up... it's some of there earlier hits remixed. Get some headphones and whatever else you need to get in the mood and tune out as they say. If that doesn't work try Standing on the Beach, which is an early greatest hits. The Cure are one of the best... dark and moody but also very uplifting!

  • First album I bought with my own money. Aged 14 back in 1988 :D

  • This is one of my ALL-TIME favorite song! I absolutely ADORE it. It's pure irresistible groove and genius from one of the best bands ever to come out of Scotland. Unfairly underrated, yet absolutely classical and phenomenal.

    I L♥VE ORANGE JUICE!!

  • seb you are completely correct

true classic in all aspects luv the juice

  • i mean "classic" (y'know right? ; )

  • @SebastianSolorzano

    Couldnt agree more mate

Fought back from major illness to defy doctors and come back and sing and tour again.

There was a bbc4 documentary about him a few months back, check it out if u can

  • @ynkrock7

i completely agree with you, but you have to take in account the base lines for today's pop culture. such as taylor swift, rihanna, and Sean Kingston. The title's in his name!

  • very accurate point, bro.

  • ah...the good ol days of edwin collins.very cool indeed!!!

  • Edwyn's still pretty great as of today, you have to admit it, he's still got the MOJO.

  • i got the glasgow school version, are all the tracks on that different mixes??? i want these versions, i need more orange juice before i get musical scurvy!!

  • no, they're not different mixes, they're cut from the single versions, identical to the ones on the original albums.

  • The Smiths must have been listening to this..

  • THROBBING GRISTLE back then. OH dear. These bans never made it past losA or New York.

  • No other bass line can compare to this, the only other bass player than can possible do any better is Andy Rouke from The Smiths.

  • mah and bernie edwards (chic)?

  • Yeah, ol' Bernie was a darn good bass player too. I wonder if Orange Juice ever listend to Chic?

  • @clash4life your forgetting about the bass players for Joy Division and The Pop Group!!!

some of the best bass playing ive ever heard are from those two bands

post punk in general had lovely bass lines

ps this song is king, just makes you want to dance

  • Your right, I could I forget them! I and I totally agree about this being a great dance tune.

  • @clash4life oh yes, good bass, check another scottish band with excelent bass player, night noise team - you won, the disco ball thing

  • its true im american and im just hearing it for the first time..pretty cool.

  • such a great album, Orange Juice was the best 80's band America never knew about

  • omg i randomly typed in orange juice and i got this!!!! wow thats retarded

  • Strummer Lives- yes it's Edwyn Collins.

    Beautiful isn't it?

  • Is this Edwyn Collins singing?

  • Dialogue between paralollaxengine and cmomofilm is so much more entertaining than actual song. Although guys, I sincerely hope you weren't really molested. Especially to Rock Me Amadeus, Jesus. We should start a competition. If you HAVE to be molested, what would be your mood music of choice? Mine? For that 70s I'm only five vibe? I hope even back then I would have had the good taste to opt for Steely Dan. Over to you, contributors...

  • Throbbing Gristle's Second Annual Report. If you're going for maximum trauma on a five year old...

    There you go

  • i was definitely touched to "reelin' in the years"

  • no as annoying as you, if you think its annoying then fuck off and don't watch it in stead of bitching. i got the record not to long ago, best one! they sound so great in vinyl.

  • The fresh sound of young Scotland!

    Still fresh after 25 years.

  • Lucky you! Mine played "rock me amadeus"!

  • @cmomofilm "we didn't start the fire" for me

  • @cmomofilm - Poor you , hope it wasn't the 12" !

  • @parallaxengine I can't tell if you are serious...

  • @parallaxengine Wow. mine played he doesent look a thing like jeasus. wow wht a life.

  • @parallaxengine i dont get it?

  • @hardjustice9366: you probably don't want to. This is the internet. Crazy people are magnetised.

  • @hardjustice9366 me neither.. i think i was drunk.. please disregard everything i've ever said

  • @parallaxengine u being serious

  • @parallaxengine great comment ;)

  • umm inhaling nitrous oxide to this song is amazing...

    derrr.. sorry im dumb :)

  • wait isnt this song 'blokes on 45'?

either they rerecorded/edited the song and put it under a new name or im just confused

  • This song draws a line between before and after.

  • Still one of my top 10 albums of all time!

  • I love them so much <3

thank you for putting songs from this album up. I will have to find the cds somewhere!

  • Underrated song

  • This song makes me endlessly happy!

  • Thanx! I've been looking for this!

  • Great Song

sometimes its cool to listen to old stuff like that!
