  • Lol thinks it a fire truck wit the eq!

  • Q on a nypd unit? Wow! & I thought they only used electronics!

  • NYPD w/Q...NICE!!!

  • thats cool that a police esu truck has a siren what is that the same siren that they had on old rescue trucks

  • @MrJakemoffitt its called a Q siren.

  • @dragon246135 oh my bad i knee that i ment that is the old siren they had on the rescue trucks, because the esu trucks are old rescue trucks.

  • nice!

  • So ne idea what kind of firepower this thing packs, or do the "big guns" not leave the station until there needed?

  • A emergency truck aka "trucks" are not called out untill needed.

The radio emergency patrol trucks patrol the streets answering first. If the rescue can not be handled with the equipment on there,or the situation is bigger, they will call out the truck

this specialized mack and sulsbury body rescue carries two set of hurst tools aka "jaws of life", saws, jack hammers, air bags,a small arsenal, everything that is needed for a major technical rescue of heavy tactical situation

  • Thanks buddy, got most of it already, i work in fire so knew the rescue half always been curious about the assault/force entry/SWAT type half of it

  • @nypdkid so this truck will respond with fdny rescue truck, and fdny

  • The mack mr, in my opinion is a good truck.I do like how it rides.

  • thats a nice rig love the mechanical siren

  • Love seeing this truck responding they only bring it out if the situation is really bad ..NYPD esu is the best ..

  • what does the truck in the video respond to?

  • rescues,evidence searches,people pinned in cars,buildings,etc

  • @anesti and ocasionaly drug bust saw 1 on a feild trip lolllllllllllll

  • @MrBall567 Good question,I was going ask that.I saw an ESU truck responding to a call that I thought Rescue 1 should have handled.

  • fdny calls esu when they need help when all else fails call esu

  • Actually, I think there is a mechanical siren of the front bumper, but it's deffinately not a Q... it's proboby something like a Model 28, they're accepted. If you look close enough, you can see the siren on the front bumper.

  • Sounds close enough to a q to me

  • They have very similar tones, but the 28 doesn't peak as high and has a faster wind-down.

  • With regards to vehicle rescue, how is ESU dispatched? Does FDNY not handle all vehicle rescue? If there were an MVA with entrapment in the city, who would be dispatched and who would have rescue/extrication command?

Same sort of question as well with this video...why would ESU go to a cO emergency? Wouldn't FDNY be dispatched as well. More or less, Im curious how ESU and FDNY interact on an SOP/Protocol level when it comes to calls that they are both trained to handle.

  • not 100% sure but both are generally dispatched to a mva but since pd is on the road more often they beat out the fdny and the esu will beat out any rescue.

If i rember this call fdny was dipatched for a engine and truck to the scene but there were bone fragments found in the house so that was the need for esu. But anyway in NYC nypd is the lead agency for hazmat which a co emergency is in ny so nypd will be on the scene first.

  • @RCEMT23 it depends on who the on site officer(s) radio for...ESU or FDNY

  • Ok, This is it. From the photo's shared by Anesti and the 3 bolt pattern left in the extended bumper from another photo found on google.. The siren been removed.

The siren is a Timber wolf. I cringe just typing the words. It all makes sense now.

  • Yeah, I think its got a SS2000 now.

  • p.s.s.. Sorry guys but this is bugging me. I looked at the photo of ESU 4 a little closer.. Something that you can see in the video has been removed from the photo of March '08. There are still 3 bolts sticking out of the extended front bumper on the officers side beside the blue federal pod light. Any ideas now??

  • its the siren i have a picture of it with it on give me your email ill send it to you

  • 10-4 Thanks!

  • p.s. At 00:14 there is something on the extended front bumper (more on the officers side) that I did'nt see in the photo. It looks siren like? Any ideas guys?

  • I'm afraid your correct. I found very close up photo of this apparatus from March 5/08. There is no electro mechanical siren any where on the front of this beast.. Only the new style electric F chrome plate that goes over a siren speaker. So, yeah it has to be an eQ2b. I'm surprised that NYPD is using an eQ.. Unless the NYPD and FDNY are still in that ongoing pissing match with each other? Then it makes perfect sense..

  • What is ESU? it is like a police rescue unit or something?

  • yup thats what they are.they have tools, lighting.etc

  • Emergency Services Unit

  • Basicly firefighters with guns instead of hoses?

  • eh... no firefighting... vehicle rescue, haz-mat, swatish ops, other rescues.

  • close ESU (Emergency Service Unit), but good guess anyway lol. my mom did 20yrs with the NYPD.

  • ESU stands for Emergency Services Unit. They are the NYPD's SWAT team and Rescue team all in one

  • sweet air horn i though it was a fire truck at first but it was not it was a police truck

  • The siren is a Federal Signal Pulsator model P660 that was used on NYPD cars of the 1960's through 1972. ESU is the only units that still have some on the units, they are very rare. But I have one that I have had since around 1979

  • even patrol cars had this?

  • Sure did, I have pictures.

  • Thanks for the info.

  • i thought it was an eq2b but i found out that its a smaller model mecahical q

  • If it is then it must have an exceptionally good set of bearings on it to make it go down as slow as a Q.

  • Nice (electronic) Q on that rig!!

  • nice ESU responding video

  • God created ESU cops so firefighters could have heroes.

  • totally wanna be firefighters

  • The last time I saw the FDNY rushing anywhere was to the supermarket. :)

  • guess u didn't see them respond to there death at the bank fire at ground zero

  • I knew you would bring that up. Leave the heros out of this. You make a comment about NYPD, and when you get one back, you bring up those that gave the ultimate sacrifice. God Bless their families, but you ? - Dont use them to further your comment. Shame on you. Plenty of NYPD have given their lives for this ungrateful city too.

  • the fdny ARE the crowd!!!! LOL

  • HAHAHA funny man

  • Great Video!!

  • yeah when i heard it responding for a minute i thought it was ladder 52

  • lol, atleast there not runnin around tappin the PA300 maual's lol.

  • Ill take the FDNY PA300 manual over any other electronic siren any day.

  • good. that was an EQ2B by the way...

  • PA300s arent THAT great.

  • nope.

  • Great Video. Keep up the great work.

  • Holy Crap, the NYPD sounds just like the FDNY????

  • yeah esu trucks are even louder

  • Don't you get a lot of overlap between the equipment carried on these trucks and that used by FDNY? Is it at all redundant?

  • No overlap. Two different jobs, two different equipment set ups.

  • Guess I was wrong, then...now if only someone could tell me what the jobs and equipment set-ups are

  • I'm curious, too.

  • Hate to tell ya, but plenty of overlap, as the E-men also go to technical rescues, collapses, pin jobs, man under train, SCUBA, and any other high profile job where their pictures can be taken for the newspaper, along with the conventional SWAT jobs.
