Very nice job! My nephew and his buddies built a similar size log cabin in our maple grove almost 2 years ago. He is currently stationed in Afghanistan, but I go up to the cabin often to just chill out and enjoy the peace and quiet. I want to add a front porch like you did. I acquired a free 12'x5' oak pallet to use as the floor. Going to use branches as railing. And, thanks to you, it will have a clear roof! I'll have a 'golden effervecent nectar of the gods' as my dad used to say! Thanks again
@SPCLPONY Thanks for the nice comment, hope your porch turns out great. I put another coat of paint on this one back in Oct. All of the wood decking was old pallets that were dismantled, lots of wood going to waste out there so keep an eye out. Good luck!
this is something i have wanted to do all my life.....im closing in on retirement......and have plans to buy a few acres in northern Mo. and build us a hideaway cabin.......been looking for ideas off of you tube and got many ideas from your cabin.........nice job
@curbshoppin Thanks, I don't post as many vids as I used to but planning on more this fall. Good luck with your cabin adventure. Hope you have some strong helpers and a lot of cedars!
@joejoemorgan The folks who live across the valley have tons of chickens and all the eggs we'd ever need, they can't eat them fast enough... but thanks for the idea!
"Keith, Great Job with the porch! I really like the clear roofing. Looks like it works well for your location under the trees you get partial shade but the sun that does filter through the canopy is enjoyed when you're "chillin out" or shall I say "grillin out" on the porch!!!!! PS Sexy grill you got there..... "

oh my... it turned out really nice, i toast to you my barley soda and wish your porch and you many relaxing log cabiny rainy day BBQs.... i'm going to tell all the boys and girls at home about it.
@dirtTdude Thanks! Planning on a long future of many barley sodas and other mood-altering liquids in it's honor. Starting today! (well, in about 3 hours, that's the only problem, it's a long drive.)
@smooth73074 Thanks, man! The grill was a Lowe's end of season special, too, nice and budgetary. I'd been watching it all summer waiting for a price drop. :-)
