Italy was paying off the Taliban (they admit it) to not attack the region they were in charge of. Then France took over that region, and didn't know the Taliban was being paid off. The payments to the Taliban stopped since the Italians left, so the Taliban attacked the new French soldiers, killing 10 of them.

What is this Canadian or American tv ? They're not getting ANYTHING right. The accusations are that the ITALIANS, bribed the talibans in exchange of them NOT attacking THEM. Not the coalition forces. When the French forces took over areas controlled by the Italian military, the Italians didnt warn them of their agreements with the local insurgency. Putting their NATO allies at risk.
