Benny was probably the luckiest of the "Around the Corner" characters. He actually debuted BEFORE that era/setup started, and was probably the only character to survive after "Around the Corner" was dropped (he doesn't appear often these days, but he still lurks around)

From 2:10-2:15, when that orange monster said to the audience "a cute little bunny rabbit, I will hug him and pet him and squeeze him", that same line was in a Looney Tunes cartoon skit with Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck where an Abominable Snowman would pick up Bugs Bunny and/or Daffy Duck if the Abominable Snowman thought that Daffy was a bunny rabbit, and the Abominable Snowman would say to himself if he picked one of them "I will name him George, and I will hug him pet him and squeeze him."

If by Looney Tunes reference you are talking about the monster saying "I will hug him and squeeze him" you are wrong....Looney Tunes did it...but both this and Looney Tunes are alluding to "Of Mice and Men" by John Steinbeck

In case you are not aware, in "Of Mice and Men", one of the protagonists is apparently mildly mentally retarded and kills a pet mouse early in the book, and then later kills a woman the same way...by hugging and squeezing and loving....it is actually quite a dark book, and the frequent reference to it in children's programming is rather disturbing, actually.

I remember when Benny first appeared on Sesame Street. Oscar and the adults and kids were watching a grouch magician named, The Great Blecchini. Blecchini tried to make a rabbit appear out of his hat and Benny made his first appearance. He just shouted, "NO!" like a grouch and went back into the hat.

I remember hearing that Benny sang that song but, I never saw or heard him singing it. Maybe the reason why he was friendly with those kids is because, they were calling him Benny instead of Bunny or, maybe he is only cranky with adults but not kids (I know that Oscar the Grouch also uses grouchy words to the adults but not to the kids. So I guess Oscar and Benny have the same grouchy feelings with those kind of people). Benny is probably cranky because his name rhymes with Bunny.

At 2:37-2:38, as the monster was bouncing Benny up and down, I could hear a bouncing sound like a basketball being bounced. I'm sure with that monster bouncing Benny up and down at 2:37-2:38 was hurting Benny and made him even more angry. Probably after all that touching and bouncing, Benny would never get love in his heart and never want to be touched in his life if some strange people and monsters that he doesn't know are going to handle him roughly.

Benny is definitely a sharp contrast against most of the other Sesame Street characters who are nice and sweet all the time. He's kind of unpleasant-looking to me, why would anyone wanna touch him?

The only two Sesame Street characters who are cranky are Benny Rabbit and Oscar The Grouch. Maybe all those people and monster here knew Benny looked unpleasant but, they probably thought he was a kind hearted loving bunny on the inside. However, I'm surprised Monty here on this skit didn't know that Benny is a cranky rabbit since both Benny and Monty both live on Sesame Street (probably everyone who lives on Sesame Street is a neighbor of one another and they all know each other well).

That line actually refers back to the character of Lenny in "Of Mice & Men". When Lenny is upset, he asks his friend, George, to "Tell me about the rabbits, George", and George tells him of the farm they dream of owning.

This is a great song. Benny Rabbit is one of the characters I like but, I wonder what gets him angry very easily. Is it because people call him bunny a lot when he has a name himself and he gets tired of people not calling him Benny? There has been two skits where he does something nice for someone else but, all other skits he is cranky.

The two skits I saw Benny being nice was in the song "14 Carrot Love" with Polly Darton, Benny let her borrow his carrot (even though he kept saying "no") since she had only 13 carrots. The other skit was where the "Sesame Street" sign on the lamppost broke and Telly Monster held up a paper "Sesame Street" sign and couldn't put it down so others know where Sesame Street is, and Telly had an itch on his back, and Benny scratched it, even though he said "no" to Telly

Yes, I just watched that skit on YouTube. (It was nice that he never yelled at the duck). I guess Benny is only nice to people, monsters, and animals who don't touch him, or hug him, and especially who don't call him "Bunny" since being called "Bunny" is probably the thing he hates the most.
