Nowadays, and comparing it to modern and my favourite German thrashmetal like Sodom, Destrution or Kreator, i would agree and say its more like Speedmetal.

Unfortunately, I felt that the opening acts were either mediocre or flat-out awful and just misplaced. Destructor was okay, but nothing to make them remarkable and stand out from the other acts. It did little to build momentum, but when Heathen hit the stage it was instant fucking energy amongst the crowd.
