  • whats the point of this video when the whole idea is to see the image quality and you've uploaded it in 480p...

  • 1:00 black pixel on flame!! :O

  • Fantastic presentation!

  • For everyone who wants to get a 5D or 7D, just keep in mind that 7D is not full frame but the 5D is! It can make a huge difference!

  • This had 30 clips and used 9 different lenses. 70-200 used 12 X 85 F1.2 used 5 X TS 45 used 4 X 200 F2 used 2 X 400 F2.8 used 2 X 24-105 used 2 X 15 used 1 X 16-35 used 1 X 100 macro used 1 X Based on this one should purchase the 70-200 because of its all round utility and quality. The 85 F1.2 because of its quality and ability to isolate the subject from background and foreground. I have never liked tilt shift effects and even in this video it just creates weird scenes. I like the 100 macro.
  • @47nightman Basing lens choice off what one person used in a single video is a bad idea. They used each lens for a specific purpose within this specific video, doesn't mean the same lenses should necessarily be used for everything else in general.

You'd be better off with just a wide, a normal and a tele prime. Or a couple of zooms.

Also, read up what a tilt shift lens is really designed for and you might change your views on them :) Not just for odd focus and making things look small lol.

  • Nice with those lenses. The colour grading is top notch too.

  • I got same issue. 7d or 5d mkii. Trying out both it's hard to decide. For few hundred more right now 5D might be better choice in the long run...or wait for mark iii :)

  • I am really exciting when I see this video, I just bought a 5D mark II and try to shoot the video but my camera just freeze! When I shoot, I didn't switch the live view on. Is it the cause of trouble! When shooting the video can I use either AF or MF. I am just the beginner? Please give me some advice

  • Im really thinking of getting the 5d...Im a digital artist and want to start doing portraits but not really sire what camera to get?? 5d 7d?? ahhhhhhh

  • This is beautiful work. I'm very interested in Noh and much of my experimental film, photo and writing is about Japan. Thinking of getting a new camera to use this summer and this makes a good case for the Mark II.

  • really wonna see this in 1080p

  • they scare me

  • Where is the 1080p Mode :(

  • Whaou vraiment magnifique

  • Very nice Footage JD95

  • well, you can't correct the color and contrast in post, like the negative in the lab; but the digital files ar not light!! Film is by far the most...

  • @tzolkyn dfhasdfghsfh

  • Next time record HD. :)

  • watch?v=d7uQHvqr6k0 This professional music video clip made with 5d mark ii in January 2011. Director: Altan Dönmez

  • i'm scared

  • please give this thumbs up for all the morons to see:

DEAR RETARDED COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHERS, or idiots who do shit for money and dare call it art.

If you think you need the HUBBLE TELESCOPE TO TAKE STILLS, go do that...

but US RATIONAL HUMANS, will resort on buying one of these full frame cameras. So please you pixel counting/ spectrum analysing/ noise ranting / commercial ASSHOLES.... FUCK OFF!!! and have a nice day..

  • fuck digital

  • @moderjoker THAT poor? ;-P

  • you have suck nice gear

  • Wow its quality is really great and colour too.

  • what music is it?

  • very very good

  • Hey mang. Just got off a long 8-month gig doing the post (keying etc.) for a Canadian-content celebrity gossip show shot with whatever HD Panasonic videocam they had with that company; then our outift did the post for a music vid shot with the 5D; we were super impressed with the footage. Blew the Panasonic HD out of the water. And only 2500 for the body. Hot damn.

Anyways, we were looking for sample of what the 5D was capable of, so thanks for that.

  • I have tried this camera and it is extremely easy to get these kind of photos, great camera

  • national geographic called...they want their footage back.

  • Amazing! Love the shots <3

    and I'm DYING to know..

WHAT's THE NAME OF THE SONG? I'm desperate to know!

  • Is the 5D mk2 an easy camera to use for a complete novice? If I leave the camera to its own devices, will it make excellent quality shots or do I have to do a bit of homework on how to operate it?

  • Beautiful

  • This is very beautiful. Very heartwarming and touching. This touches my heart in every angle. ~♥

  • I NEED TO KNOW WHO COMPOSED THE END MUSIC OR MY FACE WILL EXPLODDDDDEEE.

  • This camera is so amazing. The colors, everything...

  • With canon you can :D

  • i'm gonna buy this one!! we'll see! *pray

  • Ahhh.. I just bought a T1i and getting ready to buy a Sony NXcam.. I will wait for the 5D MArkiii When it comes out.. I hope it will be using SD Cards. Very good video.. Bravo....

  • Great , not even uploaded in 720p. I see your using very expensive lenses which help make the 5D video look good. Is it better than a Panasonic GH1 with old Prime lenses and the Tester13 hack for under half the price ...errrr NO.

  • the best camera quality i've ever seen in my whole life.

  • amazing video.....i have the 5d mark ii also and i love it.

  • I don't know too much about cameras but I'd rather be ignorant and get this one just like anything else in life the more you know the more you want

  • wow i was about to buy the d 700 nikon until i watched this even tho the nikon is a better camera for photography the d5 makes up for it with these awesome video capabilities .even tho this is well edited , i did not think the clarity and quality would be this good.

  • I would like to express powerful envy to your ownership of this camera. *hiss*

  • What is the title of the music?

  • 素晴らしいの一言!!

  • Amazing

  • this is an AMAZING camera! my oh my..

  • One of the best promotional videos for the Canon D5, a real art work! Thank you so much. Pierre

  • is it mainly the lenses t hat are giving the cinematic look?

im not familiar with cameras :P

  • daaaaaaang, nice work

  • this is the way and a great planning on a nice video ^^ Impressed with this promo video. Key idea - play with Saturation/Desaturation and Sharpness. Secret - was laid in the camera setting. Just like how you tune your LCD TV

  • some very nice shots here!!! I just shot a music video on the Canon 5d at night in the rain using only available light... and it turned out great...

  • I am interested in using the TS-E45mm on my music video shoot... does this lens guarantee a greater depth of field when shooting wide open because of it's tilt function?

  • beautiful.

  • 官網的影片!!正!!!

  • you have a serious collection of lenses. I am envious. :)

But I guess they are company owned. great work

  • Beautiful video, looks and feels very artistic. Thank you for posting

  • Was the lens set to AF or MF?

  • @megalphoto

I don't see a relevance between lack of dynamic range/colors with me writing 5D Mark II four times or you commenting on all the other 5D2 videos how much you hate the 5D2. I wish I could help with your concern but it would help if you let us know what you're trying to achieve here.

  • @JD95 I actually really love this video. It's simple and it slows down life to make us find beauty in things that seem to be fading away in our world today, like nature, like culture and art. Well, well done.

  • @magalphoto

The images have been graded, mate. I have seen very green images as well, which as you know is the other end of the spectrum.

  • @magalphoto congratulations on achieving the "MOST POINTLESS YOUTUBE COMMENT OF THE YEAR- MPYCTY"

  • @magalphoto 5D II FTW!!!!!

  • Perfect films 。

  • 5D Mk III is apparently (according to numerous unconfirmed, yet reliable sources...) going to shoot RAW Video. You red that right. With a proper rig, 24p, matte box, filters, follow focus, external HD monitor - you could be chipping business away from RED camera. Very very exciting times ahead for DoPs, indy film makers and for any commercial production on a shallow budget. You get a true 35mm shallow depth of field and OUTSTANDING picture quality. What's not to like??

  • what lense can you get with that low of an f stop D:

  • awsome video!

  • this vid is a good reference , thanks

  • What did you edit the video with??? Looks awesome, I just made up my mind and im getting one ..Thanks

  • please DON'T talk anymore.

  • Is this video straight out of the camera or was there any levels and color balancing done through a program?

  • can someone explain to me what a tilt shift lens does?

  • A normal lens generally focuses on horizontal and vertical lines. With my tilt-shift lens, I can manually adjust the focusing axis to center on anything I want (such as a diagonal plane or specific area of an image). Photos that have been taken with a tilt-shift lens are generally blurry looking around the edges with just one area of the photo in focus. This creates an artistic effect that I enjoy for my wedding photos, it's probably not that useful for a hobbyist though. Hope that helps!

  • Whats the title of the music? its really good

  • shit that's good quality

  • omg! soo eerie, especially the music in the beginning when he just wore the mask in the three way mirror, but outstanding video. so clear, and the scenery was captivating. probably the best CANON 5D Mark II short video ive seen so far ;D

  • Amazing video!! Awesome work! five stars...

  • i like the music

  • Just got my Canon 5dMkII last week. LOVE! Now I need a minute to record a music video with it. No more playing bass to a webcam! Woohoo!!

  • The Quality of the 5D is outstanding. I think the 7D can be considered it's little brother for those with slightly shallower pockets.

  • great vid

jealous of the lenses especially the tse 45 is great!! love the dept of field!

i will get my 5d 2 very soon!!

    please upload in hd

  • Haven't really touch the video function much on mine. Just been doing a lot of portrait and landscape work (loved the use of the 15mm!) Wouldn't mind the 400mm f/2.8L though ::drool::

  • And good news: firmware upgrade coming in 2010 to capture 24fps.

  • damn the quality is amazing

    /watch?v=yjvalw0v-e4

  • Plz Upload Full HD 1080i. This is DVD9

  • The 5d Mk ii has "live-view" - the mirror goes up and you see the image/video on the LCD. You use that for video, and you can use it or stills if you want. The LCD is great, BTW. People go ooh and aah when they see its quality. The ISO performance on this camera is wonderful. I mean ISO 800 looks clear and smooth, and it goes up to 6400 ISO (and even can be pushed to 24K ISO but is very noisy). Using full-frame lenses again is also great - I had used a Rebel before this.

  • Nice pack of lenses you got there ;)

  • Yep, you got it, all through a simple camera or should i say awesome cam, but with video function. don't know if it's bad/good, but you can record about up to 8-12 minutes of video footage with an 8-16gb card.

  • The 5d Mark 2 is a prodigy, plain and simple. I have 45,000 shots on mine, no problems. Beautiful quality plus all the benefits of EF lenses. Couldn't be happier!

  • wait... a camera did this? how did the Canon 5D Mark II do this when it's not a camcorder...?

    so confused :p

  • sweet video, want this camera so bad but it's just too much for my skill level. I'll stick to my 300D =D

  • This is a remarkable video. Well done !

  • that is a freaky video.

  • which compression did u set .. i want to know.. ur video looks nice even after compression do u mind sharing.. ???

  • Spectacular!

The music is very moving, too!

    Beautiful!

  • Amazed. : )

  • wow, very nice camera, culture and nice view

  • Of course its boring, but this is high class quality boring video shot expertly. Not like some of the sh-t videos out there you can waste valuable precious life time watching. 5 star.

  • this guy who said how boring really has no idea how amazing stuff like this is. the precision and the no how to shoot like this is advanced... im seriously disgusted by his comment

  • Cool job. Yes for some people it can be very boring, but for me it's very interesting and breath-taking. I really like the information about the lenses used. Very useful. Thanks for the upload.

    Cheers

  • Amazing work amazing work.. stunning.

  • 'frmoc', listen to 'wermeir'. This IS a camera for professionals. Basic tourist photographers and videographers don't need a 35mm lens (or sensor). The average 5 or 6 Megapixel camera (< US$400) is usually sufficient. This thing, on the other hand, will cost you about as much as a round-the-world holiday package!

And even the most expensive camcorders have crappy audio options. Professionals use high quality, external recorders (i.e. to capture audio at 96kHz/24 bits).

  • awesome!

  • OMG.... This video is amazing. Very impressive.

    30fps....

  • best camera in the world!

  • Beautiful stuff. Had the opportunity to check one out, did you use the eyepiece attachment? use the quarter inch for a xlr box for any mic'ing? i'm guessing if you did , the camera gets up to 4,000 after everything is said and done. have the "wobble issues" through movement?

  • thank you so much, thats awesome, i think il get one

  • Your basic tourist camcorder comes with a steady cam feature to smooth out the shakes. It also has a much higher frame rate so motion is smoother than what a dslr can deliver. But most important, the basic tourist camcorder has sound. And some have mic inputs. The best a dslr can do is silent movies. It's just a gimmick. No professional would ever use a dslr for video. After all, would you hire a wedding videographer who uses a still camera for video?

  • actual pros use 35mm film cameras that shoot at 24 fps, have no image stabilization and don't record audio so not sure what your talking about.

  • You're retarded. Dont say anything if you don't know what you're talking about.

  • Amazing, 5*****

  • 凄い!日本ばんざい!

    CANON 5D Mark II

    絶対買う!!

    業務用ビデオカメラはもういらないですね

  • very beautiful...i am inspired by the beauty that was portrayed

  • yeh nikon has the D90 which might be lower res but is a hell of alot cheaper.

  • amazing video....and lens line-up!

  • Nikon has DSLR D90 with video recording.

  • with lower resolution dude...5Dmii is the best and only DSLR with Full HD video recording feature in the market to date...

  • When will Nikon finally come out with a video DSLR that can compete with the Mark II.

  • any one know the title of the song?

  • No mustang, corvette. Mustangs are chick cars.

  • This is a great Forum for DSLR's

    motiondslr

  • oh yeah

  • On your knees Nikon! On your knees! haha

  • sepuko

  • @joi1900 this is funny.

  • This camera is simply bad to the bone!

  • Pretty arrogant, most people in the world don't have $50,000 + to throw away on a camera and lens.

I think I would rather buy a Canon 5DMkII and a Corvette instead.

  • haha nice man, i would too, or a mustang :D

  • Yeah, toys! Wright! I'll go and play with my Mark III.

  • wait... mark 3? ??? :O

  • i wonder about the background music, anyone know???

    love it.

    :D

  • Its peaceful isn't it ! its Yo yo Ma

  • yeah :D it is.

    you know the title???

    need this :)

  • Don't speak for us, we don't fuck around making home movies and we fucking care what the camera can and cannot do.

  • What da hell was I thinking? The Canon shutter moves up and down, in movie mode it will capture each moving image from the top part first, by the time the shutter capture the bottom part of the image, the object would have moved within frame (albeit minimally), The effect is strobbing on panning shots or when objects move quickly across the frame horizontally. Not acceptable in the film world.

  • NO ONE CARES!!!

  • Are you sure about this? I was under the impression that the censor's full input was buffered and then processed top-to-bottom. That would make all pixels in frame simultaneous. I'm sure the people a Canon thought of this too.

Maybe someone with a 5D Mark II could run some tests to verify this theory. Something simple, like dropping a white ball in front a a checkered background, camera tilted 90 degrees. Any takers? :)
