the only reason why it stop's is because of the air, that is normali unnoticeable but while it is not touching anything is it the only thing that is slowing it down. If you would do the same experiment in vacuum it would last for much longer, in that condition only the gravity would make it not spin perfectly so it would fall off the electromagnet because of the not round spinning. I don't know if the electromagnets ond the sides could prevent it, but if someone want's to try it...be my guest :)
