Why the heck do some people twist the word liberal to make it an insult? The USA was founded on liberalism. Liberalism is the belief in liberty and equality, and it means you want to preserve the individual's rights.
@4me2cclearly - why the heck do some people twist the word Gay to make it sound like a bad thing? Liberalism is a belief that all things bad are good: homosexuality, abortion, religion, hate, racism, socialism, obama, etc etc etc.
You mean they want people that are certified in the subject in with they plan on teaching!?
HOW DARE THEY!!!
Next thing you know they will want you to take driving class from someone that actually has a license, as opposed to someone that has never driven a car!!
Strange, I always thought that the blind leading the blind approach always works best, for indoctrinating there children with there own parents ignorance.
@4me2cclearly - yeah because P.E. teachers teaching math and sex ed are certified!
They are given text books, curriculums and cheat sheets.
Parents know how to drive their own kids.
Parents use homeschool curriculum books which clearly outline, define and provide at least as good an education (in most cases a far better) than that provided at the liberal religious indoctrination camps.
@4me2cclearly - homeschoolers do teach creation & evolution. We teach the truth about both, not tainted with a religious bias which denies God, science and reality.
I agree that there is a huge difference between teaching and indoctrination, which is why teaching is done outside of the liberal religious indoctrination camps!
I think it's important for children to understand concepts of religion because, like it or not, it's part of our world. We should seek understanding, and part of understanding people is understanding various belief systems. There is a huge difference between teach and indoctrinate though. And I would actively DISCOURAGE getting into it with kids that aren't old enough to understand the difference. Their friends will eventually tell them Santa isn't real, they might not do the same for god.
Look at the violent nations like Palestine, Afghanistan, Somalia or Haiti. All are poor, violent, and 100% religious.
Think about the most educated, safest nations on earth: Canada, Japan, Scandinavia, New Zealand, etc. all largely non-religious.
This law is to stop the ignorant brain washing of children by uneducated, religious extremist whos only intent is to indoctrinate there children with there own narrow view of the world.
@4me2cclearly - If this law was meant to stop the ingorant brain washing of children by uneducated, religous extremists whose only intent is the indoctrination of our children with their own narrow view of the world, the law would be applied to "public education" system.
From what I read, this law only applies to parents who are unqualified to teach their kids. I believe if the parent teaching has a degree, then they are considered eligible. I personally think that parents should only be able to teach if they are educated, we don't let unqualified teachers into our system, so why should we make an exception for homeschooling.
Nobody but the parent has the right to decide the education or the method of educating their children.
Parents are more eligible & qualified because they have their own children's best interests in mind.
Having liberal teachers in the religious indoctrination camps known as public schools, censoring reality, pounding their agendas and faery tales into our poor children with our tax dollars is unacceptable.
So we should have the right to choose what we pay for.
Hey, what is the latest on this? I'm not a Californian, and the sophistry and exaggeration behind the whole decision enrages me. I'm in my late 20's now, was homeschooled through highschool, and attended co-ops with other homeschoolers and (what do you know?) no lack of socialization there. We even had payed (very talented, I might add) teachers there. I tested out at a college level even before highschool, and the argument that we are somehow lacking, mentally, pisses me right off.
I was homeschooled and have always felt it was an isolating experience. The value of social experience provided by public and private schooling can't be overestimated. I agree with California's ruling and think that children ought to have their rights to a standard of education protected.
Abortion. yes. Gay marriage. Yes. Teach your own children at home for many good reasons , NOoo!!! Unacceptable, these children have to be exposed and be brainwashed in the public school system. :(
Only qualified and educated parents have the right to school their children. As far as I am concerned, an unqualified parent censoring ideas and the education to fit their belief structure is but child abuse.
The government needs OUR permission to even own and operate public schools, yet they have the gall to presume we need their permission to homeschool? Outrageous!
The effect of "Harvey Milk Gay Day" will be to teach impressionable schoolchildren anything Harvey Milk supported -- which was the entire homosexual, bisexual, transsexual agenda.
Harvey Milk was a sexual predator of teenage boys, an advocate of polygamous relationships, a public liar, and a contributor to the death of a six-year-old boy at the hands of cult leader Jim Jones. Harvey Milk was a pedophile who lived with a 16 yr old named jack mckinley
You are absolutely right, Imp. Science is a process and not a religion. Were evolution even a murky reflection of science, we'd consider it as such but it's a religion we must admit!
Simply because there is no science to support it and plenty to disprove the theory.
Of course, micro evolution such as a virus adapting to an antibody or wolves branching into wiener dogs, etc is reality.
I'll allow your comments to be approved once you stop trying to promote your religious materials.
Liberal? In what way are they liberal? teachers teach about how the government works and thats it for the most part teachers try to keep opinion out of what they teach. 'Religious Indoctrination"? its because christians werent allowed to force religious rituals into a secular government founded institution that you people left the public school system.
Liberal because they teach socialism, homosexuality, religion, etc. Liberal because they teach evolution (religion) and they teach entitlement, hatred for life, murder, welfare, etc. This is the religious indoctrination our kids are subject to. I wish they taught the Christian Faith in public schools but they took God out of the classroom decades ago and replaced Him with man and his religion.
No they dont teach socialism homosexuality and yes they teach about theHISTORY of religions. Hatred for life murder welfare?are you serious?Public schools are government fundedSECULAR institutions religion is a personal matter that shouldnt be forced upon anybody if a kid wants to pray let him pray during his lunch or recess when it isn taking up educational time and making everybody else participate.just curious why should it by christianity that is taught in schools and not any other religion?
You truly are brainwashed - product of the liberal indoctrination programs! OF COURSE they push their religious beliefs as fact on kids in these "schools". If you took religion out of these schools like you removed God and the Christian Faith, you'd have to also remove evolution, homosexuality, humanism, blah blah blah, all these other religious beliefs being forced on our kids. Your kids can pray to their earth gods, their global warming gods, their evolved monkey gods on YOUR dollar, not mine.
First off evolution, homosexuality, humanism are not religions. And i think you are the brainwashed one you dont know anything about the world around you reject scientific facts and really on bronze age mythology to rule your life. Are you really being serious?because im starting to think youre just messing around with me thats how ridiculous the words you said sound to me. Good luck ever winning any argument for homeschooling using those arguments.
Evolution, homosexuality, humanism, etc - are religious beliefs that reject God. There are no science facts to support any of them.
Homeschooling, while used by parents, many of whom are Christians who love their children, is not only for Christians but all loving and inteligent parents.
We teach our children about the religions taught in "public schools" so that they know the theories, beliefs and faery tales out there but we don't lie & teach them as fact, which science shows they are not.
They;re liberal because they want your children to be controlled by the state not by you. They don't want kids learning they just want to dumb them down to become loyal subjects.
First learn about it before yo decide to hate it. Probably all you know about homeschooling is it takes place at home. Maybe I'm wrong, just an assumption. I dont homeschool my kids but understand why so many people do it. The ones who do it the right way are not depriving their kids at all but giving them an awesome opportunity .
Eh? Am I the only person who is of the age that is being affected the most who wants to talk about this? If you outlawed public school then the country would'nt work because I think that most working class parents can't home-school, what about them? And also perhaps parents DONT ALWAYS KNOW BEST because you're imposing your choice upon a child that they be homechooled without a choice. Guess how old I am? 13. And guess what I'm not homeschooled and I think that you don't need to be to be smart.
That aside - at 13 you don't have a choice, a free will nor a vote/say in the matter.
If your parents hate you, are religionists or simply can't afford to send you to a proper school or homeschool you, you have no say and have to settle for an indoctrination in the "public schools".
As for having to be homeschooled to be smart - you only need to be homoeschooled if you'd like to be in the top ten percent, but you can be smart and be in public school - in spite of their teachings.
How is it worse not to have choice and be forced to homeschool than to be forced to be public schooled?
As a homeschooler whos always had a choice and been in many homeschool groups, (-Gasp-I actually socialize!)
I can say we as a general rule are far more elite than any public schoolers, just becasue we are held to the highest standard, not herded like cattle.
I fully support home schooling, even when the parents are teaching them creationism or ID, which are wrong. Now, high school may be different. How many parents can teach advanced mathematics and chemistry and foreign languages (although in CA I'm sure many of the parents can speak/read/write Spanish as well as English. Clearly the public school system is failing kids, so home schooling at least to 9th grade is great.
As long as they are not brainwashing our kids into religions and faery tales like evolution but unfortunately these "public schools" have earned their names: Liberal Religious Indoctrination Camps!
Wait, what is wrong with requiring certification for parents to homeschool their children? They aren't saying you CAN'T homeschool, right? Isn't that just assurance that these parents are capable of taking their child's entire education into their own hands?
It's the libeal system trying to say that the parent's ARE NOT qualified to teach.
It's holding parents accountable to the liberal system with which we already disagree and for that reason have decided to teach our kids.
So no, we shouldn't allow them to use their liberal standards to tell us who is qualified when by their standards the babysitters they are employing are the only qualified teachers.
When I have kids, I've every intention of homeschooling them. If I have to obtain a certification to keep them from the junk that occurs in public schools, I have no problem doing so as long as it means I can homeschool them in the end. Don't you think others would as well?
I guess I don't fully understand what's wrong as long as they're not entirely taking away this right.
If the process involves any type of comparison to the liberal religious indoctrination camps then it should not be allowed.
What I hear you saying is that you're willing to give up your freedom to teach what you feel is right to your kids, for the freedom to teach at all in your own home.
Am I misunderstanding you?
You're willing to let "them" tell you whether you're qualified and whether your subject matter is on par with their beliefs/religion.
I think they want to ensure that fundamental subjects aren't ignored. I believe in creationism, for example, but I still find it important to understand theories behind evolution because it's interesting as well as strenthening to my beliefs in creationism.
I can understand them agreeing about fundementals but I may disagree with what they consider fundemental.
As for the religion of evolution, there are many home school curriculums that teach the theories behind that belief as well as science and fact that support the truth - Creation.
But you're right, we need to know those theories to both strengthen our own beliefs as well as know those of the opposition to help them come to the truth.
If the certification requires a 4 year degree in education, it's going to be difficult since you will have to work full time to repay your student loans.
Religious Indoctrination, like teaching the Religious Beliefs of Bronze Age Sheep Farmers alongside a Scientific Theory which has been backed up by 150 years of corroborating evidence and backed up by nearly everyone in the scientific community. I don't trust every joe to design a house nor do i trust every random Joe to be a teacher. I say good for california!
Take a look in the mirror moron! The US public school system ranks below third world countries in the areas where it counts. like math, science and reading!
constitutional right to home school? where does it say in the constitution you have to send your kids to any type of school ? school is a service provided to the public by the government, not a requirement
School is a service but unfortunately it's a requirement that parents send their children.
Yes, we can homeschool in most States but we're still charged/taxed for the public school (gov't religious indoctrination camps).
Children are required to be either sent to these camps.
Yes there are other options but parents are not given their taxes back to pay for these other options, we're forced to pay for the religious indoctrination of the liberals.
yes i meant public school should be a service that we could choose to use or not. unfortunately it has become more like a mandatory prison for the children.
It's Ironic that women have a so-called choice to abort a unborn child but do not have a right to educate their children after birth! Only in a so-called free nation can things get soooo twisted!
People should be able to CHOOSE which kind of education they want their children to receive. There are many different theories of education from Montessori,to Waldorff to traditional public and private schooling. What's really important is that Americans are able to CHOOSE. Just one more way to reduce our freedoms with more laws. While I don't agree with some of the curriculum that parents teach( religious) I strongly believe that it's their right to teach it to their kids if they so choose.
Religion is not taught in public schools because they are secular. Furthermore, funding for public education has continually been cut over the past 30 years in order to encourage privatization & the U.S. is now weak in math & science compared to other industrialized nations. I've seen homeschooling which amounted to throwing a bible at the kids & putting them in the corner, which leaves them with a warped sense of the world around them. Homeschooling is child abuse. Bravo, California!
I take it by your ignorant post you've never even been to school and that you are a fascist. Id rather teach my kids the Bible at home than have them get raped and abused at public school.
If its so anti constitutional to have the influence of other religions in school then why is it ok that god is still in the pledge of allegiance. This country was just as much founded on secularism as it was on religious values.
Gods are only taught about in history class, in a purely historical context. I'm atheist and I don't complain in history class that I have to learn about other religions and what they're all about. How do you know your god is more real than other "false" gods. That sounds pretty arrogant and intolerant. Btw, I do think parents should have the right to homeschool their kids. Personally I am against the idea though.
first of all, religion has NEVER been taught in my school unless its in a history class and in purely historical context. I dont think kids should be taught about sex at 5, I agree with you there, I think 11 or 12 is better. And btw, I go to public school and most of your arguments against public school do not accurately describe me, any other students i know, or the school itself.
If your public school is teaching the "Theory Of Evolution", they are teaching religion... helloooo. I don't need anybody teaching my daughters about sex at age 6, 12, or 112! That's my job, thank you very much! Anybody who tries to come between me and educating my children the best way I see fit will find themselves fighting against God!Jesus said bless your enemies, so I say God bless those lost judges in California!God's will be done in this circumstance, in Jesus' name I pray, amen.
The whole god thing you keep mentioning, please spare me that bs. Public schools do not teach about gods, allowing everyone to worship as they please. And who are you to say that someone elses gods are false. What makes yours more real? That sounds like pure arrogance to me.
"Public Schools" teach all about gods. Whether my God is more real than some other false gods (and He Is!), we should not be spending our tax dollars to support somebody's religious beliefs being taught to our kids. That's anti-Constitutional.
Since when do public schools teach kids how to rape, murder, etc.. They teach them about these things because they NEED to know what they are but its always made clear that these are horrible crimes. As for having sex, would you rather have them not even know what it is and find out in college. Thats a great idea. Then they can not know about condoms, get someone pregnant or get pregnant, or get a disease.
Even the Dept. of Ed. admitted in their own study with the C.D.C. that one in three kids who survive the "public school system" will have been shot, molested, raped, murdered, etc. And sex ed doesn't need to be taught to our 5 year olds as obama is suggesting. Kids should know about sex but not be taught to have it, encouraged to have it or forced to have it before they are married or even 18!
who are you to say what is the correct way of being brought up? What makes you such an authority on this? I'm sure some homeschooled kids are perfectly normal but over 90% of the ones I've known are kind of off socially so i wouldn't bother saying the whole social issue with homeschooling is just a myth, there really is something to it. Oh and social skills aren't taught, children pick up on them they don't get taught them.
Who am I? I'm the parent who both has to pay for my child's education but is the responsible party for his life and choices until he is an adult.
Very few children these days make it out of the public indoctrination camps with their heads on straight and those who do, make it out in spite of the "socialization" that goes on in those camps.
Let's leave those "public schools" to the poor kids whose parents hate them and for those of us who love our kids - Home School!
The kids should also be allowed to decide which way they want to be schooled. However i would say that public school is better because it allows children to develop social skills and learn how to deal with negative social situations that they will inevitably encounter in the real world anyway. Homeschooling shelter them from this, leaving them unprepared in the long run. In public schools kids are more likely to make friends as well.
Kids don't have the ability to decide anything until they become adults. The parents are responsible for the education of their children.
Social Skills - they get plenty of that in homeschooling. What I think you mean is that you'd rather they get social skills taught at the public indoctrination camps, teaching them how to rape, murder, sodomize, haze, molest, have sex, cuss, lie, cheat, steal, worship false gods, hate God...
...God "borrowed" them to me-not to our lawmakers.I believe He made a fair trade-i get to have my children and all the wonderful things they bring into my life and in trade i am to love them, care for them, and teach them before He takes them back someday.I'm with all the parents aginst California's ruling...it's just not logical on ANY level-esp. given what we have witness for years by trusting the schooling systems....
....our government has made such a mess of things-tho its better than other places-we, i feel get the slow death option. We are given the "bait and switch" CONSTANTLY and i have seen what it has done to my generation and some before me and i WILL NOT let my children go thru the same thing. I took back my children from the public school system-MY children. Not the mayors chidren-not the governors, or the presidents-mine...
...I have more faith in something i have not "physically" seen then something i have-thats says alot. The BEST saying in life i EVER heard was "i'd rather believe in God all my life only to find out ther is no heaven then to not believe and find out there is a hell"-i believe it goes something like that...
I agree-religion is a powerful thing-more powerful than any government-why do you think they keep our children in the dark? They want that kind of passion suppressed as well as other things like i said as a way to dumb down our children. I just don't understand when we lost the right to govern ourselves-like the this government takes us for blind idiots! It is comforting to know that there are AWAKENED people out there.
....parents ABSOLUTLY should have the right to choose how their children are schooled. Public schools are mearly nothing more than a convienent overpriced daycares. I pay how much in taxes for the school district i live in for them to teach our children and we get what? Children that come out with more issues because of what "public school has to offer" than what they went in with....
....and you rely on a strong sense of common sense-and since when did you need to be "certified" in that?!? Our nations schools are dumbing down our kids and feeding them many lies in every subject. They teach them to follow orders and fall in line-to essentially question nothing. I don't want children like that-because i don't want them to someday become "christian" public school teachers that believe its ok for mortal man to control their every breath....
.....the whole basis for the public school system revolves around funding and how much can be obtained by putting pressure on our children-which in turn puts pressure on us. As for being certified as a parent? Ask somebody if they want to go into college debt to teach children the basics of math or reading or science? I can successfully school my children up to 9th grade-and not have to take on college debt to do it. I rely on what i have learned-and what i struggle in i find alternatives...
I really hate to say this onenessbaycity i can't honestly believe you are a cristian. Before homeschooling our children is a constitutional right-its a HUMAN right- a GOD bestowed right. Any christian knows that-we belong to god before we belong to man-ie the government. And seeings how you are a teacher AND a "christian" that just makes you a wolf in sheeps clothing.....
First of all, a ruling of the courts is a fact not an opinion. Secondly, I believe that that all teachers should be certified. I am a Michigan teacher and christian I also believe that the 1993 ruling in Michigan was one of the biggest mistakes made by our system. I hope that the rest of our nation follow Calf. ruling.
With the failing of the public education system, it's become a dying and obsolete beast.
Eventually Americans will stand up, kill the department of education and privatize education so that our kiddos can be protected from the religious, the rapists, etc and be given the education that they both deserve and need to compete in today's world.
The US's education is down to #13 in the world arena and it's due to religions and liberal abuse.
I do not believe that the system is a beast by any means. If there is a question about what is being taught in schools- I believe that there is a lot of room for improvement. However, undereducating your children is not the answer either. I must admit that the level of education in a home school varies widely. What about christian private schools with certified teachers. That is probley the best way to go. As for the US being #13 in many cases you are comparing apples to grapefruits.
With "Christian" schools we aren't allowed to have our money to pay for this education. I've heard of other states that have tried and here in CO we had vouchers for a few months one semester but the schools don't want us taking our kids out of their "programs" which is why I support privatization. I agree that we don't want our children undereducated but unfortunately that the best we're going to get under the current system in public schools.
Vouchers do hurt the public schools without any question. I believe that your money does support private schools...tuition. Sometimes it is a high cost. Is home schooling the answer. I really don't know. We should move legislation for vouchers if home school is not the option, because getting a teaching certification is not the easiest task either.
For starters I am liberal and we are not destroying the country. Nether are conservatives. The politicians are. I don't care what side they say they're on, they just want more control. I agree that parents have an absolute right to home school their kids, they should be the ones in control.
I agree that there are plenty of RINOs (so called conservatives) who are wolves in sheeps clothing when it comes to morals and ethics but it is the liberal world view that is causing the degredation of this Country.
As a conservative, I want smaller gov't and less control.
As a liberal, you may support bigger gov't, more control (take universal health care for example) and legislating what Americans accept/believe - homosexuality.
It is not the liberal world view that is causing the degradation, but an idiots world view. Those can be found in both parties, although i admit a disproportionate amount of them decide to become democrats. May i remind you though about how much president Bush has increased the power of the executive branch. Both parties are moving in a direction that no intelligent person wants.
You don't need to remind me about Bush. While he may call himself a conservative and republican he hasn't don't much to support either of those two. He's done more harm than good, advanced the liberal cause in spite of his conservative, Christian, republican constituency.
His time in Office differed from the previous tenant only slightly: no sex scandals, no pilaging of the SS funds, no universal health care plans and no doubling of the national debt.
Leave it to California to make this ruling. It absolutely stuns me, to tell parents they cannot teach their children academics. Granted, the parents should have guidelines and goals to meet, but to flat out say, in effect, only the state is good enough to teach your children, smacks of fascism. Of course, if kids are taught at home, they can't be taught about the gay agenda, global warming, evolution, and the evil of religion.
Lets ask this, when did there state bill of right gave them the court the right to make state laws? then ask if the schools are so good then why have they made cut back, and what is there drop out % ? its high.
Hi. Good video. But.. I'm part of the evil "liberal [atheist] left" and I am a homeschooler in California (for a few years at least. my husband is military.. a liberal atheist in the military. Imagine!).
I think generalizing is a mistake, no matter what side of the fence one sits on. :) Peace, and thanks for the links!
I am a Christian who is currently being homeschooled by highly conservative, Christian parents. I love my parents (although I disagree with some of their conservative believs -- imagine!) and I love my country, but I am insulted by their nerve to try to indoctrinate me. It does not matter who you are; you have the right to recieve the education that YOU want to recieve. You definitely have the right to be a liberal athiest and educate your children as such; I have the right to be a Christian.
I agree that our children should not be indoctrinated into any belief system whether it's the atheistic religion, the Christian Faith or anything in between.
That's another reason we need to cut gov't funding to "public" schools as there is too much religion being taught with the public's tax dollars and I've no desire to support their liberal, homosexual and humanistic religions being taught there.
There are individuals that will use this opinion, published or not, to support their position that no parent should be allowed to home school their children. We intend to take this case all the way to the US Supreme Court.
Public support is behind us. As I stated before, depublishing this case will not make this type of thinking to go away but allow us all to be attacked individually. Please recant your support for a petition to depublish and support us in our fight for all of us.Phillip Long
This case would never make it to the US Supreme Court.
The California Supreme Court would rule in favour of its appeals court decision and you'd be stuck.
Cali has struck down so many US Constitutional rights since Arnold (R.I.N.O.) took office...
You wouldn't have a chance.
It's best to depublish/decertify this opinion now and let the facts stand that the Michigan Supreme Court has already set the precedent in 1993 of parents having the Consitutional right to Home School.
I went to a Catholic high school, but I support homeschooling. In fact, I believe that many parents are better teachers than "qualified educators" at public schools.
Ever want to question the credentials of some public school "educators"? Do some research and you'll probably find some of their 'degrees' are either fake or are from diploma mills.
The state of CA is a mess! I have some awesome friends there and I feel bad that they have to deal with these crazy laws! Thanks for this video! Be blessed, bro!
What right does the government have to step in and essentially say that parents don't have the right to raise their own kids?
As a recent graduate of homeschooling, I'm appalled. Possibly because my parents taught me to think for and educate myself rather than blindly accept whatever information is fed to me by the government and the media.
A small percent of people abuse the freedom to homeschool, but the rest of us should NOT be punished for their sins.
In the 2002 case of Beharry v. Reno, one federal court said that even though the convention was never ratified, it still has an impact on American law," Farris explained, according to LifeSiteNews. "The fact that virtually every other nation in the world has adopted it has made it part of customary international law, and it means that it should be considered part of American jurisprudence."
It's that type of anti-American thinking that our mothers tried to unteach from us:
"If all your friends jumped off a cliff, would you jump off too?" It's that same anti-American thinking that will cause the U.S. to loose her sovereignty when liberals and foreigners try to take away our Constitution and rights and make Mexico, Canaduh & the US one big Northern Union like the E.U. It's that same reasoning that will cause homosexuality and abortion to be legallized.
The judges had no constitutional right to deny the right of free choice. The judge should be removed.

Why the heck do some people twist the word liberal to make it an insult? The USA was founded on liberalism. Liberalism is the belief in liberty and equality, and it means you want to preserve the individual's rights.
How in the hell is that a bad thing?

Can you define term, Liberal religion?
And in witch cases are far better then that of public school.
I have no problem with home schooling, as long is it is not used only because
the parent does not accept the facts of, lets say evolution.
Then that is clearly indoctrination. If you wish to teach creationism at home,
then let them hear both sides fairly. Not spun with your own personal beliefs.
There is a big difference between teach and indoctrinate.
4me2cclearly 1 year ago
@4me2cclearly - homeschoolers do teach creation & evolution. We teach the truth about both, not tainted with a religious bias which denies God, science and reality.

@4me2cclearly - If this law was meant to stop the ingorant brain washing of children by uneducated, religous extremists whose only intent is the indoctrination of our children with their own narrow view of the world, the law would be applied to "public education" system.
tyeporter 1 year ago
Fair enough.
4me2cclearly 1 year ago
From what I read, this law only applies to parents who are unqualified to teach their kids. I believe if the parent teaching has a degree, then they are considered eligible. I personally think that parents should only be able to teach if they are educated, we don't let unqualified teachers into our system, so why should we make an exception for homeschooling.
Not2Sane 2 years ago

I tested out at a college level even before highschool, and the argument that we are somehow lacking, mentally, pisses me right off.
sorenkierkegaard2008 2 years ago
I was homeschooled and have always felt it was an isolating experience. The value of social experience provided by public and private schooling can't be overestimated. I agree with California's ruling and think that children ought to have their rights to a standard of education protected.

Then you are in the extreme minority.
And I'm sorry to hear it.
Home schooled kiddos receive a higher quality of socialzation than those who attend "public schools".

I dont know what youre talking about.
Ive been homschooled since kindergarten and twice as socail and twice as cultured as anyone in public or private school.
I have never been isolated, only held to the highest standard.

Abortion.

Not2Sane 2 years ago
EXACTLY - and that is why we need to avoid these religious indoctrination camps known as public schools.
For EXACTLY the reason you just mentioned:
They are censoring reality to fit their belief structure, pounding their agendas, their religions and their feary tales into our kiddos.
Good catch @Not2Sane.

'Religious Indoctrination"? its because christians werent allowed to force religious rituals into a secular government founded institution that you people left the public school system.
wukillalogic 3 years ago
Liberal because they teach socialism, homosexuality, religion, etc. Liberal because they teach evolution (religion) and they teach entitlement, hatred for life, murder, welfare, etc. This is the religious indoctrination our kids are subject to. I wish they taught the Christian Faith in public schools but they took God out of the classroom decades ago and replaced Him with man and his religion.
tyeporter 3 years ago
No they dont teach socialism homosexuality and yes they teach about theHISTORY of religions. Hatred for life murder welfare?are you serious?Public schools are government fundedSECULAR institutions religion is a personal matter that shouldnt be forced upon anybody if a kid wants to pray let him pray during his lunch or recess when it isn taking up educational time and making everybody else participate.just curious why should it by christianity that is taught in schools and not any other religion?
wukillalogic 3 years ago
You truly are brainwashed - product of the liberal indoctrination programs! OF COURSE they push their religious beliefs as fact on kids in these "schools". If you took religion out of these schools like you removed God and the Christian Faith, you'd have to also remove evolution, homosexuality, humanism, blah blah blah, all these other religious beliefs being forced on our kids. Your kids can pray to their earth gods, their global warming gods, their evolved monkey gods on YOUR dollar, not mine.
tyeporter 3 years ago
First off evolution, homosexuality, humanism are not religions. And i think you are the brainwashed one you dont know anything about the world around you reject scientific facts and really on bronze age mythology to rule your life. Are you really being serious?because im starting to think youre just messing around with me thats how ridiculous the words you said sound to me. Good luck ever winning any argument for homeschooling using those arguments.
wukillalogic 3 years ago
Evolution, homosexuality, humanism, etc - are religious beliefs that reject God. There are no science facts to support any of them.
Homeschooling, while used by parents, many of whom are Christians who love their children, is not only for Christians but all loving and inteligent parents.
We teach our children about the religions taught in "public schools" so that they know the theories, beliefs and faery tales out there but we don't lie & teach them as fact, which science shows they are not.
tyeporter 3 years ago
"Wow" that's all i can say.
wukillalogic 3 years ago
They;re liberal because they want your children to be controlled by the state not by you. They don't want kids learning they just want to dumb them down to become loyal subjects.
mainestategop 2 years ago 3
First learn about it before yo decide to hate it. Probably all you know about homeschooling is it takes place at home. Maybe I'm wrong, just an assumption. I dont homeschool my kids but understand why so many people do it. The ones who do it the right way are not depriving their kids at all but giving them an awesome opportunity .
boysie30 3 years ago
We should outlaw public school. That would be better.
mainestategop 2 years ago 8
CriticalThought09 2 years ago
Well, "Critical Thought" - you definately illustrated a great point for us.
I'm pretty sure it's not the point you intended to make.
tyeporter 2 years ago
Meaning?
CriticalThought09 2 years ago
Exactly.
That aside - at 13 you don't have a choice, a free will nor a vote/say in the matter.
If your parents hate you, are religionists or simply can't afford to send you to a proper school or homeschool you, you have no say and have to settle for an indoctrination in the "public schools".
As for having to be homeschooled to be smart - you only need to be homoeschooled if you'd like to be in the top ten percent, but you can be smart and be in public school - in spite of their teachings.
tyeporter 2 years ago
How is it worse not to have choice and be forced to homeschool than to be forced to be public schooled?
As a homeschooler whos always had a choice and been in many homeschool groups, (-Gasp-I actually socialize!)
I can say we as a general rule are far more elite than any public schoolers, just becasue we are held to the highest standard, not herded like cattle.
WareWulf1408 2 years ago
I have a question.
What are your thoughts on evolution?
For or against?
4me2cclearly 1 year ago
@4me2cclearly - Evolution:
Science dosn't support it.
The Bible doesn't support it.
That would mean that unless I deny reality - I can't support evolution either.
tyeporter 1 year ago
Are you sure that quote wasn't sarcasm?
I fully support home schooling, even when the parents are teaching them creationism or ID, which are wrong. Now, high school may be different. How many parents can teach advanced mathematics and chemistry and foreign languages (although in CA I'm sure many of the parents can speak/read/write Spanish as well as English. Clearly the public school system is failing kids, so home schooling at least to 9th grade is great.
christo930 3 years ago
You don't "need to" have any understanding of any subject to instruct your home schooled student.
Public schools have taught us at least that much.

mainestategop 2 years ago 3
Wait, what is wrong with requiring certification for parents to homeschool their children? They aren't saying you CAN'T homeschool, right? Isn't that just assurance that these parents are capable of taking their child's entire education into their own hands?
powellpicc1985 3 years ago
That's the problem
It's the libeal system trying to say that the parent's ARE NOT qualified to teach.
It's holding parents accountable to the liberal system with which we already disagree and for that reason have decided to teach our kids.
So no, we shouldn't allow them to use their liberal standards to tell us who is qualified when by their standards the babysitters they are employing are the only qualified teachers.
No, it's wrong.
tyeporter 3 years ago
But what does the certification process entail?
When I have kids, I've every intention of homeschooling them. If I have to obtain a certification to keep them from the junk that occurs in public schools, I have no problem doing so as long as it means I can homeschool them in the end. Don't you think others would as well?
I guess I don't fully understand what's wrong as long as they're not entirely taking away this right.
powellpicc1985 3 years ago
If the process involves any type of comparison to the liberal religious indoctrination camps then it should not be allowed.
What I hear you saying is that you're willing to give up your freedom to teach what you feel is right to your kids, for the freedom to teach at all in your own home.
Am I misunderstanding you?
You're willing to let "them" tell you whether you're qualified and whether your subject matter is on par with their beliefs/religion.
All for the "freedom" to home school.
tyeporter 3 years ago
I think they want to ensure that fundamental subjects aren't ignored. I believe in creationism, for example, but I still find it important to understand theories behind evolution because it's interesting as well as strenthening to my beliefs in creationism.
powellpicc1985 3 years ago
I can understand them agreeing about fundementals but I may disagree with what they consider fundemental.
As for the religion of evolution, there are many home school curriculums that teach the theories behind that belief as well as science and fact that support the truth - Creation.
But you're right, we need to know those theories to both strengthen our own beliefs as well as know those of the opposition to help them come to the truth.

constitutional right to home school? where does it say in the constitution you have to send your kids to any type of school ? school is a service provided to the public by the government, not a requirement
bigajosep 3 years ago
Yes and No.

Bravo, California!
rhabdoviridae 3 years ago
Parents who love their kids, home school them.
We need to continue to cut funding to the Dept. of Ed. until there are no longer these religious indoctrination camps.

If its so anti constitutional to have the influence of other religions in school then why is it ok that god is still in the pledge of allegiance. This country was just as much founded on secularism as it was on religious values.
pedazodecola 3 years ago
Gods are only taught about in history class, in a purely historical context. I'm atheist and I don't complain in history class that I have to learn about other religions and what they're all about. How do you know your god is more real than other "false" gods. That sounds pretty arrogant and intolerant. Btw, I do think parents should have the right to homeschool their kids. Personally I am against the idea though.
pedazodecola 3 years ago
first of all, religion has NEVER been taught in my school unless its in a history class and in purely historical context. I dont think kids should be taught about sex at 5, I agree with you there, I think 11 or 12 is better. And btw, I go to public school and most of your arguments against public school do not accurately describe me, any other students i know, or the school itself.
pedazodecola 3 years ago

That sounds like pure arrogance to me.
pedazodecola 3 years ago
"Public Schools" teach all about gods. Whether my God is more real than some other false gods (and He Is!), we should not be spending our tax dollars to support somebody's religious beliefs being taught to our kids. That's anti-Constitutional.
tyeporter 3 years ago
Since when do public schools teach kids how to rape, murder, etc.. They teach them about these things because they NEED to know what they are but its always made clear that these are horrible crimes. As for having sex, would you rather have them not even know what it is and find out in college. Thats a great idea. Then they can not know about condoms, get someone pregnant or get pregnant, or get a disease.
pedazodecola 3 years ago
Even the Dept. of Ed. admitted in their own study with the C.D.C. that one in three kids who survive the "public school system" will have been shot, molested, raped, murdered, etc. And sex ed doesn't need to be taught to our 5 year olds as obama is suggesting. Kids should know about sex but not be taught to have it, encouraged to have it or forced to have it before they are married or even 18!
tyeporter 3 years ago
who are you to say what is the correct way of being brought up? What makes you such an authority on this? I'm sure some homeschooled kids are perfectly normal but over 90% of the ones I've known are kind of off socially so i wouldn't bother saying the whole social issue with homeschooling is just a myth, there really is something to it. Oh and social skills aren't taught, children pick up on them they don't get taught them.
pedazodecola 3 years ago
Who am I? I'm the parent who both has to pay for my child's education but is the responsible party for his life and choices until he is an adult.
Very few children these days make it out of the public indoctrination camps with their heads on straight and those who do, make it out in spite of the "socialization" that goes on in those camps.
Let's leave those "public schools" to the poor kids whose parents hate them and for those of us who love our kids - Home School!
tyeporter 3 years ago
homeschooling sucks
pedazodecola 3 years ago
It sucks for those who hate kids being brought up correctly.
tyeporter 3 years ago
The kids should also be allowed to decide which way they want to be schooled. However i would say that public school is better because it allows children to develop social skills and learn how to deal with negative social situations that they will inevitably encounter in the real world anyway. Homeschooling shelter them from this, leaving them unprepared in the long run. In public schools kids are more likely to make friends as well.
pedazodecola 3 years ago
Kids don't have the ability to decide anything until they become adults. The parents are responsible for the education of their children.
Social Skills - they get plenty of that in homeschooling. What I think you mean is that you'd rather they get social skills taught at the public indoctrination camps, teaching them how to rape, murder, sodomize, haze, molest, have sex, cuss, lie, cheat, steal, worship false gods, hate God...
Homeschoolers have plenty of friends.
The right kind of frineds.

First of all, a ruling of the courts is a fact not an opinion. Secondly, I believe that that all teachers should be certified. onenessbaycity 3 years ago
On the bright side:
With the failing of the public education system, it's become a dying and obsolete beast.
Eventually Americans will stand up, kill the department of education and privatize education so that our kiddos can be protected from the religious, the rapists, etc and be given the education that they both deserve and need to compete in today's world.
The US's education is down to #13 in the world arena and it's due to religions and liberal abuse.
P.S. It's only an "opinion" so far.
tyeporter 3 years ago
I do not believe that the system is a beast by any means. If there is a question about what is being taught in schools- I believe that there is a lot of room for improvement. However, undereducating your children is not the answer either. I must admit that the level of education in a home school varies widely. What about christian private schools with certified teachers. That is probley the best way to go. As for the US being #13 in many cases you are comparing apples to grapefruits.
onenessbaycity 3 years ago
With "Christian" schools we aren't allowed to have our money to pay for this education. I've heard of other states that have tried and here in CO we had vouchers for a few months one semester but the schools don't want us taking our kids out of their "programs" which is why I support privatization. I agree that we don't want our children undereducated but unfortunately that the best we're going to get under the current system in public schools.
What's the solutuon as you see it?
tyeporter 3 years ago
Vouchers do hurt the public schools without any question. I believe that your money does support private schools...tuition. Sometimes it is a high cost. Is home schooling the answer. I really don't know. We should move legislation for vouchers if home school is not the option, because getting a teaching certification is not the easiest task either.
onenessbaycity 3 years ago
Vouchers are just a bandaid until we close the Dept. of Education and privatize education.
Whether or not home schooling is the answer moving kiddos out of public schools and into private school is.
Right now our tax dollars are going to public schools, supporting all sorts of immorality.
On top of those tax dollars, we have to send our kids to school with money for food, supplies and what nots.
With private schools we can vote with our dollar, schools are held directly accountable to us.

For starters I am liberal and we are not destroying the country. Nether are conservatives. The politicians are. I don't care what side they say they're on, they just want more control. I agree that parents have an absolute right to home school their kids, they should be the ones in control.
Carson314 3 years ago
I agree that there are plenty of RINOs (so called conservatives) who are wolves in sheeps clothing when it comes to morals and ethics but it is the liberal world view that is causing the degredation of this Country.
As a conservative, I want smaller gov't and less control.
As a liberal, you may support bigger gov't, more control (take universal health care for example) and legislating what Americans accept/believe - homosexuality.
tyeporter 3 years ago
It is not the liberal world view that is causing the degradation, but an idiots world view. Carson314 3 years ago

Granted, the parents should have guidelines and goals to meet, but to flat out say, in effect, only the state is good enough to teach your children, smacks of fascism. Of course, if kids are taught at home, they can't be taught about the gay agenda, global warming, evolution, and the evil of religion.

Hi. Good video.

Thank you for Home Schooling, even if you are a member of the evil liberal left!
LOL
This Nation's youth are much better off because of parents like you.
Blessings.

I'm glad to hear that you're home schooled.

Thanks, I'm concerned about this too because of the rise in bogus poisonous vaccinations!

I could do hours of videos on this subject.
There are scores of studies proving this and one senario of which the whole of us has first hand experience is the Chicken Pox party.
Anywho..Like I said, I could go on but you're spot on.
Let me know if you want to do some vids about this...?
:D
REJOICE!

Sure, I could do a vid with info on how to get a waiver from vaccinations..it takes some hurdles, but I'm trying it :) God Bless, Tye!

I went to a Catholic high school, but I support homeschooling. In fact, I believe that many parents are better teachers than "qualified educators" at public schools.

"Qualified Babysitters"?
LOL
The only qualifications they have are in pedophilia and statutory rape.
I'm generalizing as there are plenty of "good" and "great" teachers out there in the public school system - IN SPITE OF that system.
We need to get them out as well as our kids and into private education programs where we can all benefit.
tyeporter 3 years ago
Ever want to question the credentials of some public school "educators"? Do some research and you'll probably find some of their 'degrees' are either fake or are from diploma mills.

In the early 80's one of our High School teachers asked a couple of us from the drafting dept to "make" a certificate for him.
It wasn't the Drafting teacher - Anthony Hawksworth - he rocked.
But none of us even hesitated, we made his certificate and were glad to do it.
Looking back...
If that wasn't 25 years ago, I'd...

Thank you for this video.

They don't have any right to step in.
They create what they feel is that right by quoting and citing international law as precedent.
They ignore U.S. Constitutional law and common sense.
Congraduations on being a Home School graduate.

Exactly, Kothjih. Thank you.
