lol I sense some jealousy from this guy, hehe. I bought a Macbook Pro a few months ago after having a Dell and SOny Vaio beforehand. Sure other computers have some better specs, but the Mac has far superior battery life and also a much slimmer and superior quality build to the others. It is also very quiet, who wants a 1GB card in a laptop anyway, it just sucks battery power is noisy as hell and runs very hot. If you want to play games use a desktop. As for the price, I can easily afford it.
Here's a fun fact. Batteries used on high performance gaming laptops can runs MacBook's for over 20 hours. Why is it less play time on other laptops? Because they are so powerful.

I returned it days later because the specs were crap, the screen was small, really stupid apps and it needed stupid adapters for external monitors. not to mention the inability to upgrade and very little performance... I get a kick out of Mac users. The machines are slow-ass garbage cans. They don't even offer HDMI ports (which is ridiculous). They have awful software support....but hey, they can always use Bootcamped Windows as a crutch, out of 100% necessity. The current quality of iMacs is pretty much self-explanatory (defective garbage),and their meager-ass market share and abysmal sales growth ($264 million in TV ads for a 1% growth) pretty much solidifies the fact that Macs are are the butt of jokes.

People buy them because they don't like Windows, and when you really think about it, that's reason enough.

CNET posted a comparison of bootcamped Windows 7 going up against Snow Leopard on the exact same Macbook Pro machine. windows 7 RAPED Snow Leopard with a huge lead in 3D image rendering and high end gaming/graphics performance, and SL only held a tiny lead in multitasking performance and battery life.
So, to draw conclusions.....if Windows 7 can annihilate and destroy Snow Leopard on it's own meager, slow-ass Mac platform, then it'll run lightspeed circles around any Macintosh when it's paired up with high performance, low-lat 2200Mhz DDR3 running a GTX480 card and a six-core Phenom.

COLOSSALLY bad idea, and it shows in their buggy releases! Beta Testing on Windows 7 allowed for huge improvements and major bugs to be eliminated save for a handful. The closed-off testing of Snow Leopard resulted in BIG bugs, including the aforementioned guest account bug which is the single BIGGEST bug I have ever seen in my lifetime.
Fact is, the most powerful dual Quad-Core Mac Pro FAILED in every single benchmark test except Cinebench where it held a pitiful lead against the SINGLE quad-core Mac (tsk, tsk, tsk!!) and got murdered by it's PC equivalent 3 times over.
They even used Call of Duty 4 as a benchmark test and couldn't get past 30 FPS at 1680x1050!

I have an hp just about the same specs as a mac laptop. Ive also seen videos of a personalized computer matching up EVERYTHING on the mac, and it cost less...so if he upgraded it more it would be more powerful...and still cost less!

It actually isn't about how powerful the computer is. Power is nothing if you cannot utilize it properly. The Mac operating System can utilize every core of a mac thus rendering it a much more efficient computer despite it having less physical power than a PC.

I've used windows for 10+ years and trust me when I say windows is nothing like a mac. Yea the hardware may be similar but I buy macs for the Operating system not just for the hardware.

I already know what I can and cannot do on windows. Based on my 5 months using a mac, it's OS blows windows away. It's not "what" it can do, rather it's how it does it. Bottom line is that a mac does the same things windows does but much more easily and I get frustrated less.

I'm not a mac hater though. I'm a fan of older macs, like the G4's, where apple's resources weren't so focused on the iphone and they built their computers properly.

Windows, that is cheap and crap, and Mac, which is 'great' but costs a crapton more than the average PC. What people don't know, is that you can get a computer for less than a PC, that has all the good points of a mac. Linux. People argue that Linux can't use apple's apps. Well, that's what sucks. lol I sense some jealousy from this guy, hehe. I bought a Macbook Pro a few months ago after having a Dell and SOny Vaio beforehand. Sure other computers have some better specs, but the Mac has far superior battery life and also a much slimmer and superior quality build to the others. It is also very quiet, who wants a 1GB card in a laptop anyway, it just sucks battery power is noisy as hell and runs very hot. If you want to play games use a desktop. As for the price, I can easily afford it.

I've had my Dell XPS laptop since 2003, and my Dell 8300 Desktop PC since 2003. Not once has the laptop crashed on me, and only once has my Desktop crashed on me, and that was from ending A system process by mistake on Task Manager.
If you know how to use a PC, you can do much, Much more than you could ever do on a Shitty Mac

I returned it days later because the specs were crap, the screen was small, really stupid apps and it needed stupid adapters for external monitors. not to mention the inability to upgrade and very little performance... My XPS laptop out preforms any mac (and its from 2003)
I am currently using an ASUS laptop, and it runs pretty much anything.

I get a kick out of Mac users. The machines are slow-ass garbage cans. They don't even offer HDMI ports (which is ridiculous). They have awful software support....but hey, they can always use Bootcamped Windows as a crutch, out of 100% necessity. The current quality of iMacs is pretty much self-explanatory (defective garbage),and their meager-ass market share and abysmal sales growth ($264 million in TV ads for a 1% growth) pretty much solidifies the fact that Macs are are the butt of jokes.

Most Apple customers aren't concerned with it pushing the envelope 100% on hardware specs, and that shows a lot when you see how many Macs they continued to sell with Motorola processors regardless of how far behind they were to Intel before the switch. They buy them because they like the hardware and software to be designed to compliment one another, not one be shoehorned into the other. People buy them because they don't like Windows, and when you really think about it, that's reason enough.

CNET posted a comparison of bootcamped Windows 7 going up against Snow Leopard on the exact same Macbook Pro machine. windows 7 RAPED Snow Leopard with a huge lead in 3D image rendering and high end gaming/graphics performance, and SL only held a tiny lead in multitasking performance and battery life.

If you get a new mac at every model change (intelligently) you can almost always break even. I've gotten deals and turned them around for profit. As such, I rarely spend more than $100 every year to run the newest macbook pros (two of them). Equate that to the $1700 you spend every 3 years. I, however prefer not to piss my money away so I buy mac.

I shall enjoy my Quad-Core laptop with 6 GB of RAM, a GT260 video card with 1 Gig of RAM, Blu-Ray drive, a 17" screen with 1920x1200 resolution (awesome, awesome, awesome) and all of the other amazing features the machine has.......for the great price I paid for it.
I shall rest easy tonight knowing that it will single-handedly SMOKE any Mac on the market, despite it's less intensive hardware. If a Macbook wanted to compete, it would cost $1500 MORE.

For anyone who's wondering, I just checked the price on the "specs for the highest iMac" according to Anavengertg.
To come home with that setup, you'll pay a whopping, silly, ridiculous, INSANE price of $3849.99 CDN.
If that isn't a colossal RIP-OFF, I don't know what is..........considering that for that price tag, I can build a super-powerful system that will make that iMac setup WEEP at how pathetic it really is.

Just so everyone is fully aware.........Apple doesn't allow for beta testing. They hire a private firm to beta test their software.
COLOSSALLY bad idea, and it shows in their buggy releases! Beta Testing on Windows 7 allowed for huge improvements and major bugs to be eliminated save for a handful. The closed-off testing of Snow Leopard resulted in BIG bugs, including the aforementioned guest account bug which is the single BIGGEST bug I have ever seen in my lifetime.

Fact is, the most powerful dual Quad-Core Mac Pro FAILED in every single benchmark test except Cinebench where it held a pitiful lead against the SINGLE quad-core Mac (tsk, tsk, tsk!!) and got murdered by it's PC equivalent 3 times over.
They even used Call of Duty 4 as a benchmark test and couldn't get past 30 FPS at 1680x1050!
Congratulations, Apple! You cobbled together a computer that PC people have been enjoying since 2005! CLAP! CLAP! CLAP!

I have an hp just about the same specs as a mac laptop. Ive also seen videos of a personalized computer matching up EVERYTHING on the mac, and it cost less...so if he upgraded it more it would be more powerful...and still cost less!
and Ive seen videos where a windows laptop did better than the mac. so yea...it proves it..idk if im going to get a mac in the future..they would have to drop the price for whats in it now..

It actually isn't about how powerful the computer is. Power is nothing if you cannot utilize it properly. The Mac operating System can utilize every core of a mac thus rendering it a much more efficient computer despite it having less physical power than a PC.

I've used windows for 10+ years and trust me when I say windows is nothing like a mac. Yea the hardware may be similar but I buy macs for the Operating system not just for the hardware.
p.s. The $2000 I paid for my mac wasn't just for the hardware.

I already know what I can and cannot do on windows. Based on my 5 months using a mac, it's OS blows windows away. It's not "what" it can do, rather it's how it does it. Bottom line is that a mac does the same things windows does but much more easily and I get frustrated less.

I have used a mac, I tested it out (my friends). Trust me..if mac was sooo great I would be buying one this month...but im not..
I said it before and Ill say it again...the only way you can have a terrible experience on windows is if you dont know wtf your doing (with the exception of bugs, ex. early stage of vista..they released it too early, but it wasnt even THAT bad..)

It's impossible to compute the efficiency of a computer by just "testing" it especially if you do so with a biased mind.
I've been using a mac now for 4 months and I still discover new methods of efficiency from a mac that makes me go "WOW!"
