UHaul car haulers SUCK!! They are not balanced right- the axles need to be be placed further back to put more weight on the hitch. Pulled a Ford Explorer cross country once, had a few scares, and I've been towing for years, so I knew what i was doing.
@mongo731 I towed a a dakota and had no issues, it seemed well balanced on the trailer, but I found if you got on a bumpy road, and the trailer started bouncin, the surge brakes would go on and off, so it was like being in a boat on a choppy day, LOL, worked great on the good roads tho.
really appreciated this - am headin gx-country in a few weeks (1st time hauler) and this gives me a lot more confidence that just trusting the guy who hooks it up. THANKS!
wish i had watched this! the guy that rented to me helped load the trailer he suggested putting a lock on the chains to add security. I was going cross country.
hey, quick question on your u-haul comment if you've got a sec - re: the chains being loose, I'm not sure what they do (everythign else looks logical, but what's the purpose of those chains? their certainly not strong enough to hold the vehicle. Anyidea?
They're "safety chains." Basically, a backup measure. If any of the straps break (which shouldn't happen--those things are TOUGH), or in the unfortunate event of an accident, you don't want your vehicle to roll off, and possibly back into traffic!
It's the same deal with the chains on the actual hitch. they're slack, but if for some reason the hitch came off the ball (God forbid!) they'd keep the trailer still safely attached to your vehicle until you could pull it over and fix the issue.
HA! I second that comment...I've rented these a couple of times and those safety chains were missing. And it looks SOOO CLEAN!!! Nice vid though...you some dumb nut is gonna screw this process all up!!! Flame me now cause I know they already have.
more like how not to he will not be loading one for me get lots of practice hoss befor any one else sees you load one like that

Um.... Why not just have someone drive the other car???
TDpr0ducti0ns 1 year ago
@TDpr0ducti0ns Because I don't want to put 2,500 miles on my Ferrari moving it cross-country when I can rent a trailer for less than a tank of gas.

Oh real smooth driving, lucky you never ended up over the end.

I think his really cool up-to-date hair style and the porn music in the background make this job look easy, don't you agree?

Better be at least a 6.0 in Tahoe/Yukon or it will struggle. plus I would never want to tow a SUV on a Uhaul trailer anyway.

right..
1. it's all in the soundtrack.
2. try that with a Saturn SL2
3. if the hitch broke loose, it would spin, flip & roll.
better off with a 2wheel dolly.

are the chains secured around the axles?

is there a point to folding down the fender?
hateercenor 2 years ago
so that the driver can exit the vehicle; the fender is in the way of the driver's door.
apmathai 2 years ago
Yeah, so you don't ding your car door when you're getting out of it.
ryno4664 2 years ago
Would you rather exit the vehicle through the sunroof, or the door? Dumbass.

Maybe just maybe theres hope that people like this dont reproduce
mikeys316 2 years ago
So you can open your door when on the trailer

I wish the U-Haul car haulers had a winch to make loading easier!
