From the video, I hear that the Germans admired the ways of Tibet: horsemanship, honor etc. However, I do not see any link to the Dalai Lama himself. If I understand correctly, the Dalai Lama was very young at that time and majority of his affairs, including the letter illustrated in the video, were not managed by himself. Therefore, I believe it would require more evidence to make an accusation as strong as the one being made here.

Interesting - I never heard of Bon before you mentioned it - apparently it originated in Tibet, so it might have influenced Tibetan Buddhism, but Buddhism originated in India and was transmitted eastward to China by Bodhidharma. The manufactured religion - a bit of Buddha - a bit of Bon - was designed, like all religion, to keep the populace in subjection. The DL's mantra of 'compassion' was for the large peasant class to swallow while the small priestly aristocracy enjoyed comparative luxury. He sees himself as both the political and spiritual leader of Buddhist and the nation of Tibet. In other words, he is a theocrat.

From the video, I hear that the Germans admired the ways of Tibet: horsemanship, honor etc. However, I do not see any link to the Dalai Lama himself. If I understand correctly, the Dalai Lama was very young at that time and majority of his affairs, including the letter illustrated in the video, were not managed by himself. Therefore, I believe it would require more evidence to make an accusation as strong as the one being made here.

While perhaps there is more evidence to be had, what is shown here only indicates that the Nazis were interested in the ways of the Tibetans, and that the Tibetans - perhaps not in full knowledge of what Naziism represented - wished the Nazis peace. There's no clear connection presented between the Dalai Lama himself and the Nazis.

This is ridiculous...may it be said that Ahnenerbe's expedition to Tibet took place before the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, was found, and any other links between the Dalai Lama and several other controversial figures (e.g. Heinrich Harrer, Shoko Asahara) are merely coincidental as, if anything, the Dalai Lama was trying to heal these people of their wicked ways (may it also be mentioned he managed to do so with Harrer...not so with Asahara).

Interesting - I never heard of Bon before you mentioned it - apparently it originated in Tibet, so it might have influenced Tibetan Buddhism, but Buddhism originated in India and was transmitted eastward to China by Bodhidharma. Most forms of Buddhism don't have as much weird mystical BS as the Tibetan type.
Yep, it's pretty hard to take a sect seriously which rewards dopes like Steven Segal by appointing them "reincarnated lamas," and whose leader is as much a reactionary a-hole as the pope.

the dalai lama is a true buddhist because he doesn't deny anyone and has faith that there is SOME good in everyone, even if they have done bad things.
the whole point of having buddha status as the dalai lama had/has, is that the dalai lama has achieved enlightenment, but he stays alive to help people who don't know as much as he does. that includes talking with ALL types of people, even some who have done bad things.

These crackdowns and arrests and deaths made the country much less stable. People are pushed to the boiling point now after a year of terror, and to make it even worse, Chinese ppl have been sold a lie that Tibetans are "dangerous terrorists." You can see it all over the web--hate towards Tibetans, fear that they'll "blow themselves up" even tho there's never been a Tibetan suicide bomber (tho there have been several Chinese ones this year.)

National Geographic not propaganda, they sometimes come out with really interesting issues like the issue on China about three months before the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

I sometimes wonder why many white college liberals support Tibet but they shun the Vatican? Both are theocracies, but then against the Vatican is CHRISTIAN. Liberals sometimes have the tendency to self-hate. They probably had a really flawed notion of Tibet being an Anarchic Nivana nation before the PLA went into Tibet in the 1950s, when really, it was not the case at all.
Tibet has an interesting culture, but to say it was a Nirvana Anarchy is a huge mis-statement.
