I just wish that once I come out, he'd teach me. Unfortunately, because of his views on transgenders and the LGBT community in general, that won't happen. I highly doubt that he'd want anything to do with me, let alone teach his newly out transgender teenage grandson how to shave.
@bambiisthename Hey--don't sell your grandfather short! I was also worried about my grandparents and they've actually been way cooler than my parents. Sometimes older people have a more relaxed perspective on things. Not to discount the fact that it sounds like he might have some issues, but he might come around and surprise you. Just saying. :)
Only reason I want facial hair from the T....at about age 6 my grandfather taught me to shave with a straight razor. I only wish he was still around for another lesson now that I could actually use it. I also wish his stuff had survived because I'd love to have it. It's a very dapper thing and I'm glad to others respect the art of a good straight razor shave.
@cubecalirican A good razor and strop will run you around 200 bucks. Good shaving cream is usually 20-30 bucks. It sounds like a lot, but when you consider how much you drop on disposable inserts, you make your money back in a year or two. Plus, treated correctly, a razor and strop will last you your whole life.
this video is baddd assss... i cant wait to do exactly what your doing in this vid!!

My grandfather uses a straight razor :D
It's impressive, traditional, and very manly.

Thank god for YouTube tutorials.

Hey Thanks for this vid. Is there somewhere you recommend getting stuff from?
CAtransguy 3 months ago
@CAtransguy I would recommend Straight Razor Designs or Vintage Blades LLC: both sell straight razors that are professionally honed and shave-ready.

@committedtomars Awesome thanks! Also you mentioned the razor rock?
CAtransguy 3 months ago
@CAtransguy Yeah: Straight Razor Designs has them, very reasonably priced. I'm sure you can find them other places, too.

Fun to watch, reminds me of watching my Grandpa shave when I was a little girl. Nice shave, very precise.
