Pretty impressive but he should not immediately start walking when you get on him like that. He should wait until you indicate you are ready to start moving :o)
@karamoosie it's all in the way i shift my weight on his back. He's very sensitive and responds to the slightest shift in weight or leg position. When I shift my weight back he knows to slow down, and if I add in a vocal "whoa" he knows to stop. It took a long time to get him to this point.
@karamoosie indeed, I've seen that done and it's very impressive. If I had kept going with him we could have ended up doing reining patterns bridleless. Unfortunately it just wasn't in the cards for us. My busy school schedule got in the way and I haven't been able to keep up with his bridleless training these last few years. I still have this horse though and love him to death.
i thought by pullin hair it would turn him to the side i pulled, instead he sprinted to his barn and i almost died, how do you give it diection with no equipment
@wrestleorsurf bridleless riding is something that usually takes months to prepare a horse for, it took over a year to train my horse to the point where I trusted him without a bridle, and a couple months after that before I trusted him without a bridle or saddle. The horse has to be taught to respond properly to shifts in weight and changes in leg pressure before this can even be attempted. I would like to add too that I have fallen off doing this before as well.
I also want to add that the only reason for holding on to his mane was to assist with my balance, it has nothing to do with control. All of my control comes from my seat, legs, and voice.
you are an amazing rider, and it is obvious you and your horse have a very special bond. keep up the good work!!! but maybe you should wear a helmet....great work any way though!!!
wow thats good i would never be able to hang on to a horses mane because if you ride my horse that way hey get really mad and starts bucking your lucky
this is great! you are an amazing horse person! from your description, it sounds like youve brought him a long way! Amber7Wolves is right, he probably learned to be that way. You guys have an awesome bond! There is no reason for negative comments. anyone who leaves one doesn't know horsemanship to well!
well done!I want to try this when my schools dried up and i find a way of blocking off the botom of the gate so my horse doesnt go underneath as she is only 13 hands and arabian so ahe gets under anything.
You love that guy of yours I bet. Great relationship between you two. I'm working on doing this with my Arabian Mare and I'm now bitless and bareback with very little contact on her mouth. She's beginning to get it. Horses are incredibly sensitive and intelligent creatures.
You have done an amazing job, this kind of training isintensive and sometimes two steps back to get three steps forward, it admriable and you have done fantasic. Sit a little further forward, keep your hip and wow what horse and rider! :D you two will be the best of friends!
Wow,thats something special.I want to do this when I'm older.I'm going to be a vet,and right now I'm 12,so when I'm 18,most of the abused and neglected horses will find a loving home with me.
just a little more on his withers, you are a great rider, It's really nice to see a male rider, ride correctly and gentle, usually male riders from the cowboy world like to show off, and hurt the horses mouth.keep up the good work
Pretty good, probably 99% of the time its a rider fault. He probably learned to be unpredictable from another rider. Yeah I started this too with my BUDDY I prefer to say I do not own a living thing. Yes good for a natural begginer at this stage.
Very nice job!! You have a very nice seat too. I'm glad to see someone else riding with Truly NO Tack!! He is a nice looking horse too. Check out my video "riding with no tack" from buckingwildranch. I wish I could record longer. You made a nice video, I gave you an awsome rating!!
I do natural horsemanship and love riding bareback with no bridle! It just feels so much better and I can have a better connection horse this way!

How do you slow a horse without a bridle?

Riding a horse around the ring without a saddle or bridle is one thing. Doing a dressage course without a saddle or bridle is another.
