  • so um I am an atheist and I own about 3 bibles 1 koran and the Bhagavata

Should I be tried for any crime I might commit based on that?

Come on man use you brain a little

  • @inquiry10 Tell Keith Olbermann to use his brain - not me...

  • @marklross2

obviously you have missed my point entirely....or maybe you have simply clarified it.

  • @inquiry10 yes - I think I clarified that the point was missed....

  • so if he had harry potter books aswell would that mean he was influenced by the book and just wanted to protect witches from christians?

    of course not.

a very large percentage of the american prison population are christians... did they all do their crimes because they have a bible in their homes of course not. but if they say that they did their crimes because they were reading the bible and it influenced them its a different story

  • @xkingcutx "a very large percentage of the american prison population are christians" Until you provide the statistical data differentiating between the number of inmates who entered prison as secular/atheists and CONVERTED to Christianity and those who claim to have been Christian at the time they committed their crime, your statement is as stupid as it is meaningless....

  • so i make a point that just having a book in your home when you commit a crime does not mean that the book made you do it.. i had two different analogys to make my point.. you chose one of those analogys and said my point was stupid and meaningless because some inmates are just converted? your just side stepping the issue . i was not saying that christians are all criminals. i was saying that you cannot choose a book somone has in their home and say that it made them do the stuff they did.

  • @xkingcutx I just want you to understand that your statement about christians and prison is meaningless. Now that that's done, if you claim that you cannot choose a book somone has in their home and say that it made them do the stuff they did, then you negate the original stupid observation Olbermann made about authorities finding books by O'reilly and Golberg in some vigilante's possession - so thank you....

  • @marklross2 but when the guy writes a letter saying that the book IS the reason he did what he did then you can conclude that it was the book that inspired him

the letter that he wrote is the difference between the two examples you gave.

now if the other person admited to doing the things he did because of the athiest books he had in his possession then you would have made a valid point and i would agree with you. but as it is now i think your video is just showing your biased opinion

  • @xkingcutx The reports that the books had been found in his possession and were likely the cause foe his actions were made before the letter was revealed. In this vid, Keith is just all too happy that the letter supported his biased speculation. He would have never speculated in that way about the church arsonists. They have clammed up about their case, so the truth may never be known. I'm not biased - Keith Overblownman is....

  • @marklross2 your vid does not show keith making any speculations about the books before the letter is released. your vid shows him talking about the letter written by the accused stating that a certain book led to the his actions

like i said before if the church arsonist says he did that because of a certain book he read then you would have raised a valid point and i would agree with you

when you want to prove that you are not wrong it helps to provide evidence instead of more speculation

  • @xkingcutx Yes - I know -= I couldn't find video of his previous report,l along with all the other media talking heads who gleefully reported the books being found. I am not speculating however, because it does not take speculation to know that the evil atheists were obviously motivated by their hatred that was reinforced by the books they had in their possession.

  • wow...how silly can you be?

How many people DIED in those fires?????

last count i seen was ZERO

besides, why would an atheist be studying demons?...hardly a case here, sounds more like a guy who reads.

much like myself, if you look on my book shelf you'll see many books Including the bible & "the god delusion"

so what does that mean?...did the church burners write a letter claiming these books as guidance?

I have over 20 books dealing with atheism not one of the says burn a church

  • Oh - so property rights are nothing...someone needs to die before it gets your attention. Has the mainstream media gone apeshit over the books like they did before? That is the point you cretin....

  • They didn't write a letter specifically mentioning their inspiration like the man you sighted... so your logic is flawed. They could be neo-pagans like in Norway who believe Christianity was forced on their people and are fighting back, they could be nutty atheists, they could be satanists. You need more details to try and compare your story with the news broadcast.

  • No letter has yet been made public. That remains to be seen. That only proves my point even more. If they were "right wingers" the story would still be hot in the press and details like a manifesto would be sought by the press. Since the are more likely "nutty atheists," the main media is not interested in any further details exposing them. Thanks for pointing that out.....

  • Apples and Oranges, really.

  • You are ignoring my proven point - long before the statement from the shooter was released, hate mongers like Overblownman were blaming the "conservative books" found in his possession (see attached video). My approach is not dishonest - you just won't admit the bias. All the facts of the arson case aren't out yet. Maybe the criminals will admit a direct influence from the atheist book - we don't know yet - but at this same time in the other case, the media was all over the books.

  • You haven't shown a bias except your own.

The accused shooter is on record for the book that influenced him. You just want us to take your personal word on it that an atheist book (which you admit you have no idea what it talks about) influenced a church arsonist.

Obermann had proof. What did you bring?

  • You are an idiot. I NEVER claimed the atheist book was an influence. I only said that it was in the possession of the arsonist, and that unlike the conservative books in the other case, the media coverage of the atheist book would not be near as rabid as the EXAMPLE of Overblownman that I used. I will go on record now predicting that even if the arsonists admit direct influence - Overblownman will not say a word about it......

  • "I NEVER claimed the atheist book was an influence." Your wrong or your lying.

    Pick one.

Your own words. "..the book, "The Atheists Way" that obviously had an effect on them." This would be the book that you admit knowing absolutely nothing about.

Your approach is dishonest and without any research. It lacks merit on any level.

  • The actual parallels that he wants to draw are buffalo chips. But that doesn't matter to his argument. His point is not to convince somebody who doesn't already believe his point of view is correct. Only to reinforce that Olbermann is biased. You are trying to debate from to different points of view. His is an emotional, yours logical. Neither side will convince the other.

  • Thank you for proving my point.

  • How did I miss this one? 5 stars.

  • Flying under the radar....

  • Sounds like 1 atheist book was found. Also, 3 bibles. Did the arsonists release any statement?

  • not yet...

  • But the man Keith mentions cited the book in question specifically. Many theists own books about Atheism. I'm an atheist and I have 2 Bibles.

  • The atheist book is mentioned specifically in the article...so what's your point? Many theists also own political books. How about if someone tries to kill all the liars listed in Al Franken's book? Ya think Overblownman would cover that?

  • So just to get this straight...

You are equating being called a lair with screwing up america.

    Just want to be sure.

  • Lies (And the Lying Liars Who Tell Them): A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right

Franken vilifies many right wing pundits, calling them liars. How would it not be that a liar in a political position or prominent media position would not be bad for America?

  • So did the people that did the church arson siad that the book that franken wrote was their inspiration? That it was a symbolic killing?

  • Don't know yet. But long before the actual statement by the killer, Overblownman was reporting that book by both Golberg and O'reilly had been found in his possession....

  • Then you need to find the vid of Olbermann blaming goldberg before goldberg was cited as inspration.

In this vid olbermann stated that the killer cited the book as a reason to kill. Somewhat of a poor example.

  • I don't need to do anything..the media was all over the "conservative books" being found before the contents of the letter was revealed. I just used what ever vid of Overblownman I could find since he is the WORST....

  • "I don't need to do anything" Evidently that includes backing up your own statements since your trying to draw a comparison to an obviously unrelated matter.

  • Unrelated? You must be a dolt if you do not see the parallel between a "right wing nut job" and "conservative books" and an atheist arsonist and an atheist book....You people always close a blind eye to your facilitators like Overblownman...

  • Parallel? One said he was influenced by a book. The other did not. One fired live ammunition during a children's play...the other burned a building down. The severity of the two can not even be compared.

Probably every criminal has owned a book or two. That does not make those books the reasons they are criminals.

  • "Probably every criminal has owned a book or two. That does not make those books the reasons they are criminals." Oh - my point exactly - now just tell that to Keith Olbermann...

  • OMG you are being dense. The shooter is the one saying the book was his influence....not Obermann...the ACTUAL gunman.

  • Like I said - long before the shooter's letter was released - just the fact that there were "books by conservatives" found in his residence was all over the "Keith Overblown" type media. I just used this clip of Overblownman because it was the only one I could find.

  • So now it's not Keith Obermann but Obermann 'type' media which you say was so abundant that you can't actually find any for your example. You seem to be guilty of what's called 'shifting the goalposts'.

  • You seem to be ignoring my challenge - where is your example of a rightwing hate blog accusing the atheist book of being the reason.....and it still is Overblownman, simply because he is the iconic example of left wing hate mongers....

  • Your missing the point.

Who cares who blames whatever book. The fact remains that the shooter HIMSELF cites the book as an influence and no such evidence exists in the example you are suggesting is similar.

You are being intellectually dishonest in your approach.

Do you even know what the atheist book your citing is about?

  • What the book that was in the arsonist's possession is about doesn't matter. I don't care. The media didn't care about the content of the conservative books initially. All they cared was that they were there, and they hated the authors. You are obviously a dedicated Overblownman, left wing media sycophant who would lick Katie Couric's cunt, so I really don't care about defending my flawless video against your blatantly partisan attacks....

  • Atkinsons 'specically' mentions his shooting was motivated by the book written by Bernard Goldberg. You are merely mentioning items found in the homes of the suspect and drawing an unsupported conclusion. But Atkinson is 'on record' as saying that book motivated his actions. Where is your evidence? And when are books about Demon Possession have anything to do with Atheism?

  • Olbermann = Sports guy...nothing more.

Actually, ESPN's quite a bit better since he's been gone....so maybe he ain't a sports guy either.

  • I stopped watching the pre-game show to Sunday night football when they added Overblownmann to the line up....

  • Yes, dont hold your breath. You would die, then no longer provide me with videos to watch!..:)

  • Even though these guys were arsonists. Olbermann will blame the guns found for the church burnings.
