My 2008 4.2 liter V6 F150 gets excellent gas mileage and its a beast i love it cant tow anything huge but it is a beast off the line i can hit 60 in a heartbeat. I would guess i get around 20 mpg and my airraid cold air intake and flowmaster 40 series exhaust sure didnt hurt its power or gas mileage ha. I am about to install a couple chips and some more performance mods and them im strongly considering bringing it to the drag. I love my 2008 Ford! Ford is number one!

LMAO..."anything less then a v8 just hand in your man card and get a car pussy". Some of us get V6's and cars so we don't have to spend a fortune on gas for a big truck. Girl's don't think of guys with big trucks as cool and attractive. You might roll around in some jacked up 4x4 with a V8, but everyone knows you got a small dick and a empty wallet.

never wanted to venture into mud with my 02 4.2L 2wd. go where ever i need it to in mud but i've always found muddin is a good way to destroy a good 4wd or 2wd. don't see the point in lifting 2wds, just leveling.

@brad11344 But the V8 has a lot more torque and alot better powerband (plus it sounds a lot better, and can haul/tow more)... And V6 F150's don't get that good of gas mileage anyway...

@RidgeRunner88 yeah i got a 06 F150 4.2L v6 manual and its mpg is not near as good as what I expected... My friend has a gmc with the v6 and gets better mpg than mine and his is automatic.. =/ I wish i'd bought a v8 instead of my v6...

@biglinc1 Yeah, you can tell why Ford decided to drop the V6 from the F150 options/lineup in 2009. However, the V6 is fine as long as you aren't hauling or towing real heavy... Now, if Ford did some tweaking, it'd be VERY interesting to see the EcoBoost V6 in an F150 (or Ranger/Explorer, they'd really move!) --- Rumors say it will happen in 2011.

@RidgeRunner88 i've heard the ecoboost may be dropped in the F150's fo 2011 or 2012... i'd love seeing that happen... My 06 is so sluggish, and since they're just a bored version of the old 3.8L essex V6, those never were known for performance engines... I wish I had that 4.6L 3V engine, at least it has better tq and hp numbers... But that'll have to wait a while for me...

@glamisfanatic yea no kidding I'm 15 and i bought my 1999 Dodge 1500 Single Cab Short Bed 4x4 for $2000. I bought it by working hard every summer on the family farm and saving up every penny I have. Future plans are to fix my cracked windshield, take off the cats and put on a flowmaster super 40, and put on a levaling kit so I can clear 33's.
