I'm not sure how exactly the loot system works, but if there's a rare item that drops from a boss, and there are 2 or more people who shared the kill, well, if there's only one kind of that item that dropped, and the only rare one, and it's worth a lot of real money, then there might be more than just some name calling; there may entail some serious problems if only one of the people get the item. I kinda hope that everybody gets a fair share...
Have it as something to where if you right-click somebody, there will be options, and one of those options is to form a team against another team of players who they have met. Have the arena and all of the stats recorded to where people can see it on the diablo site.

I understand that it may extend queue time for players, but i don't think the queue time would be very short if player's were willing to risk their character dying permanently anyway-
I really don't like how that sounds. It seems to me that, with those kind of drop rates, one could conceivably play Diablo 3 for years and never find one. Does that mean that the only way for those people to obtain them is to buy them with their real money? I think it would be a better idea if they just limit the number of times those rare items can be sold in the AH every hour. Only let the rarest items be sold like 25 times an hour or something.
So wait a minute, let me get this straight, they are making the higher end items so astronomically hard to find that there is no way for them to flood the market? Do you realize just how low the drop rate would have to be in order for that to work? When you have hundreds of thousands of people killing billions of monsters daily even the rarest of items will probably drop a few hundred times unless it has like a 1 in 100,000,000 chance of it dropping.

Maybe losing in HC arena could be some smaller loss than a full? Like each player have to bet an item of rather high value in the match; if you lose, the opponent gets it, and vice versa for a win.

I say make it an option. Either sandbox OR hardcore arena. The only problem is that arena fights aren't meant to last long, so its like throwing your character away. This basically restricts any true hardcore arena to a low-level kind of deal.

@pvervloedquicknet yeah that's what i thought " BAM *dead* you just lost your character and days of gameplay" but then again... it's not compulsory and having a high level no-bars; your char is lost pvp is a great way to maybe get super special items and to really have a "this is it - total adrenaline rush moment". I myself wouldn't do hardcore still though.
Hardcore should be dead=dead even in an area; the rewards for winning area fights in HC mode should however reflect the risk. It seems like for example it might be a good, but risky place to enhance a low lev HC with high lev duels very rare/high stakes affairs.
Even if they keep the dupers at bay, you still got the problem of more and more highlvl items flooding into the market and much easier available now with the AH. How you deal with that issue? Simple enough: bring back durability and let items degrade. Let them destruct or become useless at a certain point so they can leave the economy and keep demand and prices up.
Users should lose their characters but Diablo should also give players a forfeit button. If player press the forfeit button, their character lives to fight another day and receive a loss for that match. Winners can have stats that have Wins and Deaths/Kills. We can debate on the when people can start forfeiting the match (Maybe after a certain amount of time has pasted).
I think everyone would like to participate in Diablo 3 HC Arena but sooner or later die in the arena. Dying to lose a huge amount of experience 10% -20% (the highest level item), if you survive you earn 1% experience on the arena and item of the characters that you've killed person
I think everyone would like to participate in Diablo 3 HC Arena but sooner or later die in the arena. Dying to lose a huge amount of experience 10% -20% (the highest level item), if you survive you earn 1% of the arena and experience of the characters that you've killed person
Maybe they can make a option in hc arena like giving the winner the choice to finish of the enemy forever or let them live or make a practice match and ranked match
I feel that players who lose a hardcore arena match should be lost forever, however this should not boil down to simply dying. I have seen countless situations in arena based games where a teammate has gone down but their team was still able to pull out a win and if this was to occur I would personally be pissed if I had to w8 for my teammate to re-level in order to get back into the arena. Although I was always a big fan of killing some one for their loot in D2 and want to see it in D3 H-Arena
im thinking of doing tournaments, people has "that amount" of time to lvl their charracter to 60, gear up etc then start a tournament like ladder in previous D2. and give a tittle or some kind of reward to the last man standing (one life) but once you die in an hardcore tournament, you can still play on your alive charracter but only in monster killing. until the end of of the week(exp) ....
D3 needs to have both. I can easily see 99% of Hardcore character PvP being safe arena battles. However, I think it's necessary that there also be a Hardcore arena for those who want the joy of knowing the person they just defeated suffered the loss of months or more of work when they die. None of my hardcore characters felt 'complete' until they died gloriously in battle.
Obviously, Hardcore Arena is for the few, the elite. But it needs to be there for that 1%.
@pager1991 rofl wow troll. Your blind as a bat. Better then d3? Your delusional. It took 1/6th of the time to make POH and its just a fail shit clone of diablo. D3 has 10x more detail in the graphics. Lmao

So you play your character for months, then die in pvp, then lose everything. that makes alot of sence rofl, i have a sugestion, how about when you die in pvp, the computer explodes, you get AIDS in RL and you lose all your RL money from the bank accounts, just for the LoL's.
hardcore should be elimination tournaments, where maybe like 16 characters fight and only the one with most losses loses?
that would be in a perfect world, but possibly if you die in arena mode on 1v1 your character is injured for a week, meaning you cant play it, or you are very weak? (cannot heal over 100hp or some shit) for a week. this will cause you to not go into battle with it again b/c u dont wanna die
I'd like to be able to keep my character in hardcore arena; however I think I'd totally go for a gamble arena match. There is nothing to gain like rank in hardcore arena, and losing your character over nothing would suck, but if you win I'd gamble character or loot ownership with the challenger. SO if I lose the winner gets my loot or my character. I think that would be fun and consistent with hardcore.
i think item-loss upon death aint such a bad idea in general. You could also have a wheel of fortune like randomness, that decides the type of penalty. Might also set you back a lvl or 2... the higher your lvl, the more hurtful options.
Furthermore i think that items should degrade by use, even when repaired, their magic should drop aswell. Everything should fade, so that you had to keep looking for new stuff all the time, which makes it more exciting.
Well if death isn't permanent then how can it be called hardcore at all? IMO they should include some kind of tournament element to the hardcore arena.
Therefore death is only permanent if you advance to the final round and lose. Where as if you lose in the earlier rounds you lose gear or experience/levels. If you win in the final round you can loot your opponent(s) and the game gives you some very rare gear. Thus you would have both an reward incentive to play hardcore and the risk of loss.
@HulkSmashPunyHumans so ur saying hardcore should be hardcore just for the sake of it. do you have another constructive argument other than what all the other softcore sheep are saying? guess not go back sucking at wow
@Oztington007 "hardcore should be hardcore just for the sake of it" no that wasn't my argument. I never played wow and never will. go back to trolling and typing comment after comment like anyone gives a fuck what you think.
@HulkSmashPunyHumans I'm just asking you for 1 good reason and you can't, and now u call me a troll trying dismiss our argument, trying to sweep it under a rug, maybe everyone doesn't give a fuck of what i think, but i give a fuck about what everyone is thinking, so i want to know you're opinion on hardcore without saying hardcore is hardcore is hardcore.
@Oztington007 Sorry... I already stated my opinion concisely about how I think hardore arena should function in my first comment and I now have neither the time or the inclination to help a shit-for-brains moron develop reading comprehension skills nor play patty-cakes with a scumbag troll seeking attention, which ever one you are.

@imalsomemphis and that kind of thing gets you excited? do you really care that a war game beats another war game? What is that gonna give you. The hype is going to bf3 ok.. but do you really think its going to change someting in the scheme of all things? really its like saying duh the wii is stupid the xbox is better yuk yuk yuk.. ok but who cares. maybe you do nerd but theres more important things in life than comparing a war game to another.
@Oztington007 lol man, can't you recognize a troll when you see one ? for me its mission accomplished, now thanks to your long reply im resuplied and go trolling on another video :)
@imalsomemphis you say you're a troll, but i dont care. who cant say a troll cant troll another troll. no, sir, ur no troll, but you know what you really are don't you. look inside yourself and tell me what you see
Hardcore dueling and losing your character..... stupid
Having to be online while you play...... retarded
Having to buy weapons and armor...... fucking retarted!
why cant they stick the old school D2. Just buy the game and you didnt have to worry about playin online and buying weapons and armor for real money. And the only people that would buy those items are the people that are too fucking lazy to play the game and try to work for the good items they just want to take the lazy way out.
@Pbabin57 virtual gold will be sell-able for real money, and vice versa. That means that there is an opportunity for people to profit by trading the RMAH and virtual gold action houses and currencies against each other. And that means both markets will be virtually identical. So you will never have to pay any real money for items. You'll be able to get them for virtual gold. People who want money will then take your gold and sell it for real money.
Screw Blizzards, I am tired of waiting, I am sticking to League of Legends.
Blizzards probably won't allow you to play offine anyway. They will make you register online and only let you play solo online while paying them $15 a month.
The Blizzards company and employees will be putting up all the best gears so they can line their pockets with money. They will also be hacking and banning people's account like they do in World of Warcraft now.

idk that hardcore should lose everything but there should be stacks like lose so many items if you die and the max stack would be your toon if there was a agreed stacks for dueling would make people happy and use it more with a max stack of losing you toon
blizzard gotta stop making diablo 3 for 14 years old who never played d2, and make it for those who were 14 years old when they played d2 and thought of it as the new definition of fun
To me, hardcore should have an *optional* pvp deathmatch (literally, where perma-death can happen) in hardcore. But also an arena where you won't lose your character. Maybe even some sort of short tournament where when you reach the top you MUST fight to the death. The chance to die should be in the hardcore pvp somehow, just because it is hardcore mode and that is what it implies to me.
But to clarify, I don't blame Blizzard. This is caused by global fiat money systems and their hollowing out of humanity. If it is something people can affect in any way, it is hollowed out by fiat money. The game is still gonna rock, but item prices will be determined by Blizzard's fees on listings.
Their is an arbitrage opportunity between the fake gold and fake money, so players who think the markets are separate are mistaken. They'll essentially be the same.
The strategy of making the upper echelons of items extremely rare does nothing to solve the "farmer" problem. It simply means most players will never get these drops and will have to pay thug slave-keepers if they ever want one. And no, it isn't "farmers", it is slaves. If your choice is starve or work for pitiful money to not even feed yourself properly, you're a slave.
Nobody who isn't cheating in some way will make money on Diablo 3 beyond what it costs per hour to keep a slave and run a pc.
Obviously it takes hundreds of hours to build a high level character, obviously it would be foolish to lose everything in PVP, its too big of a penalty to pay, its a game at the end of the day, not a fight to the death gladiator battle! you'd probably get D3 Addicts committing suicide!
Hardcore mode is hardcore - if you die, you lose everything. THAT is the point. Why should the PvP players be molly coddled and have their hardcore player be allowed to stay alive - when the inevitable happens.
Solution: You want to play PvP arena, start a non-hardcare character. Easy!
Regarding Path of Exile:Looks pretty awesome, can't wait to test it out but seriously-WHY is the beta opt-in process so R-E-T-A-R-D-E-D?
They have this timer that picks random people over X minutes interval for a beta invite...that's good and all but more than 80% of the chosen are accounts that never even stayed more than 3 minutes in their account not to mention take part in the community, and will never even give feedback.
Cheers for brilliant developers who got infected by the "retard" virus.
@BGinfidel if they don't do that process, their server would be exploded due to flooded beta players ? maybe they want to test the capacity their servers can have ?
I don't like that process either. since I don't have a beta key.
@swatkdw Yes, you are right. I've discussed that too, but if that was the case, wouldn't it be a better solution to simply have let's say 100 beta testers, then recruit 10 or 20 people now and then - thus getting a good estimation of how it affects the server load, and having a smooth test process at that?
It's funny how they let people make 100s of accounts and flood themselves even more, but oh well...
I hope we get to play soon, I wish you good luck :)
@macek677 i'd suggest something like a point system that's rewarding in the pve world, winning pvp would gain you these points but losing would decrease them significantly. the point system would have to be extremely rewarding, hard to gain and painful to lose.
Hardcore means nothing if you don't DIE! It means your softcore! Let the softcore players resurrect but if your HARDCORE own up to your mistakes and go relevel!
Making the really cool top tier items insanely rare to combat farmers is the WORST way to handle it. What that means is that 95% of people who play the game, even the people that play though the game 10-15 time will NEVER see the coolest stuff in the game. They might as well not even put it in. I probably put 300 hours in to Diablo 2 and I never saw a Zod rune or a SoJ. It's dumb to make stuff that virtually no one will ever see.
@dynotaku I totally AGREE, I never saw a SOJ ever and I played for years, I found a way to farm wedding rings though, if you kill hell meph in a full game eg. baal runs(high MF given) it drops very frequently. I got a wedding band close to one every 30min. So I am guessing there's a way to farm SOJs IE, NM andy or something of that sort. Also the highest rune that ever dropped for me was gul from a baal run, and highest meph stone was IST and I probably did no less than hundred meph stone quests
@dynotaku gotta rememebr thou, it add one chance per player to find it and everyone is connected via AH wich will increase everybody's chance to get what they want.
@Lucyan12 Gamescom is not like blizzcon. It has some minor announcement not a lot of show, but a lot of different games u can play and developpers. So it's not really something entertaining to watch :)
Hardcore Arena should not permit respawning whatsoever. The best I could think of to allow all of the same options one had hardcore dueling in D2 would be to give players the option to concede the fight with "certain penalties". TBH, as long as there is perma-death of some sort in PvP, AND a way to collect ears, then I don't really mind.
hc arena: if you die you loose all your gear and everything in your inventory. before the arenafight starts you can store everything you want in a chest. you have to decide if you want to be more successful and risk your best gear or play it safe with only low-level armor
I think each player going into PVP should be able to state what's at stake before the game starts. So if you want you can put cash down, or gear, or for the real hardcore players your characters life down. That way it would still be fun and something's at stake but it's laid out before the start of the match.
imo, now knowing that the normal arena will be a team deathmatch sandbox playground (which i dont like), the hardcore arena should take the place of a more esports like arena. It should be of the die and out type of thing, without losing ur gear, allowing for a more competitive scene. All pvp besides this arena (if there is any) should be like pve, thus losing all your gear from dying.
if the high-end items will be hard to get for me, imagine army of chinese farmers trying to get the items. Who will get the items first? Yes, oversaturation again.
Everyone is talking about farmers but no one even mentions about regional AH/markets only.
In HC pvp could be a mode that if you drop below 50% you are considered defeated. Then you would go back to town or they could do like you need to walk to specific point/points in arena with your remaining 50% hp to be able to go to town ofc others could if they pleased try to kill you when you r doing that :D. This could be implemented instead normal win=death of other guy option :).
imho best way to five HC players oportunity to play on arena even after they dead in PVE. that`ll be fare enough. and its a good point to compare your HC progress on arena till u progressing in pve.
i think that there should be some kind of system were as if you die in the PvP arena then should would not be able to play for a certain amount of time , for example some kind of league system where there wold be a sole survivor in your league and then you could restart the PvP arena and not loose your character .
Hardcore characters should only have one death, period. But at the same time if you risk more you should get more. Let the player that wins loot the player that lost when the match is over, that can be kind of a reward. Or let them choose a specific number of items from the other player.
you should lose everything

Simple enough: bring back durability and let items degrade. Let them destruct or become useless at a certain point so they can leave the economy and keep demand and prices up.

Users should lose their characters but Diablo should also give players a forfeit button. If player press the forfeit button, their character lives to fight another day and receive a loss for that match. Winners can have stats that have Wins and Deaths/Kills. We can debate on the when people can start forfeiting the match (Maybe after a certain amount of time has pasted).

@BrownSugar977 As far as I can remember, if you will die you will not lose your character forever unless you are in hardcore mode.

I think everyone would like to participate in Diablo 3 HC Arena but sooner or later die in the arena. Dying to lose a huge amount of experience 10% -20% (the highest level item), if you survive you earn 1% experience on the arena and item of the characters that you've killed person

Although I was always a big fan of killing some one for their loot in D2 and want to see it in D3 H-Arena
hellfrost333 6 months ago
im thinking of doing tournaments, people has "that amount" of time to lvl their charracter to 60, gear up etc then start a tournament like ladder in previous D2. and give a tittle or some kind of reward to the last man standing (one life) but once you die in an hardcore tournament, you can still play on your alive charracter but only in monster killing. until the end of of the week(exp) ....

It'd be stupid to hardcore PVP Arena but if you want I think it should be an option
blackmage0169 6 months ago
D3 needs to have both. I can easily see 99% of Hardcore character PvP being safe arena battles. However, I think it's necessary that there also be a Hardcore arena for those who want the joy of knowing the person they just defeated suffered the loss of months or more of work when they die. None of my hardcore characters felt 'complete' until they died gloriously in battle.
Obviously, Hardcore Arena is for the few, the elite. But it needs to be there for that 1%.

Hardcore arena:
An option for a serious deathmatch, or;
An option for a fun fight with fellow hardcore friends/players.
perfect much?
PurePhinaticTricker 6 months ago
hardcore should be elimination tournaments, where maybe like 16 characters fight and only the one with most losses loses?
that would be in a perfect world, but possibly if you die in arena mode on 1v1 your character is injured for a week, meaning you cant play it, or you are very weak? (cannot heal over 100hp or some shit) for a week. this will cause you to not go into battle with it again b/c u dont wanna die
NoWorriesNoProblem 6 months ago
I'd like to be able to keep my character in hardcore arena; however I think I'd totally go for a gamble arena match. There is nothing to gain like rank in hardcore arena, and losing your character over nothing would suck, but if you win I'd gamble character or loot ownership with the challenger. SO if I lose the winner gets my loot or my character. I think that would be fun and consistent with hardcore.
vanpoozle 6 months ago
i think item-loss upon death aint such a bad idea in general. You could also have a wheel of fortune like randomness, that decides the type of penalty. Might also set you back a lvl or 2... the higher your lvl, the more hurtful options.
Furthermore i think that items should degrade by use, even when repaired, their magic should drop aswell. Everything should fade, so that you had to keep looking for new stuff all the time, which makes it more exciting.
mattbau76 6 months ago
Well if death isn't permanent then how can it be called hardcore at all? IMO they should include some kind of tournament element to the hardcore arena.
Therefore death is only permanent if you advance to the final round and lose. Where as if you lose in the earlier rounds you lose gear or experience/levels. If you win in the final round you can loot your opponent(s) and the game gives you some very rare gear. Thus you would have both an reward incentive to play hardcore and the risk of loss.

Pbabin57 6 months ago
@Pbabin57 virtual gold will be sell-able for real money, and vice versa. That means that there is an opportunity for people to profit by trading the RMAH and virtual gold action houses and currencies against each other. And that means both markets will be virtually identical. So you will never have to pay any real money for items. You'll be able to get them for virtual gold. People who want money will then take your gold and sell it for real money.
It'll practically be 1 market w/2 currencies.

I think you're level should drop, whether its to zero or some other deduction(-5,-10, etc) is a detail.

There should be two types of game mode, 'Friendly' and 'Iron Man' or something.
Friendly; The duel, whether it be 1v1, 2v2, etc, takes place. The losers don't die permanently.

4xlwolfshirt 6 months ago
They should do it like Runescape did, you get to keep X items (say 3 for example) of your choice
pballsniper 6 months ago

JakeWithSocks 6 months ago
But to clarify, I don't blame Blizzard. This is caused by global fiat money systems and their hollowing out of humanity. If it is something people can affect in any way, it is hollowed out by fiat money. The game is still gonna rock, but item prices will be determined by Blizzard's fees on listings.
Their is an arbitrage opportunity between the fake gold and fake money, so players who think the markets are separate are mistaken. They'll essentially be the same.
momentinpassing 6 months ago
The strategy of making the upper echelons of items extremely rare does nothing to solve the "farmer" problem. It simply means most players will never get these drops and will have to pay thug slave-keepers if they ever want one. And no, it isn't "farmers", it is slaves. If your choice is starve or work for pitiful money to not even feed yourself properly, you're a slave.
Nobody who isn't cheating in some way will make money on Diablo 3 beyond what it costs per hour to keep a slave and run a pc.

BGinfidel 6 months ago
@BGinfidel if they don't do that process, their server would be exploded due to flooded beta players ? maybe they want to test the capacity their servers can have ?
I don't like that process either. since I don't have a beta key.
swatkdw 6 months ago
@swatkdw Yes, you are right. I've discussed that too, but if that was the case, wouldn't it be a better solution to simply have let's say 100 beta testers, then recruit 10 or 20 people now and then - thus getting a good estimation of how it affects the server load, and having a smooth test process at that?
It's funny how they let people make 100s of accounts and flood themselves even more, but oh well...
I hope we get to play soon, I wish you good luck :)

i have 3 suggestions
i think hardcore characters dyin in the arena may have to buy like a revival item which is only for arena
and/ or have a period of time which they are not allowed to use set character
and/or they have to make their way through a maze (or so) filled with monsters to release their hero from hell or what not
TheMexican02 6 months ago

macek677 6 months ago
@macek677 i'd suggest something like a point system that's rewarding in the pve world, winning pvp would gain you these points but losing would decrease them significantly. the point system would have to be extremely rewarding, hard to gain and painful to lose.
WickedGoon 6 months ago
Hardcore means nothing if you don't DIE! It means your softcore! Let the softcore players resurrect but if your HARDCORE own up to your mistakes and go relevel!

Hardcore characters must not remain dead if they die in PvP. It's just stupid.
EnriqueIglesiasBG 6 months ago
Making the really cool top tier items insanely rare to combat farmers is the WORST way to handle it. What that means is that 95% of people who play the game, even the people that play though the game 10-15 time will NEVER see the coolest stuff in the game. They might as well not even put it in. I probably put 300 hours in to Diablo 2 and I never saw a Zod rune or a SoJ. It's dumb to make stuff that virtually no one will ever see.
dynotaku 6 months ago 4
@dynotaku I totally AGREE, I never saw a SOJ ever and I played for years, I found a way to farm wedding rings though, if you kill hell meph in a full game eg. baal runs(high MF given) it drops very frequently. I got a wedding band close to one every 30min. So I am guessing there's a way to farm SOJs IE, NM andy or something of that sort. Also the highest rune that ever dropped for me was gul from a baal run, and highest meph stone was IST and I probably did no less than hundred meph stone quests

Hunter27 6 months ago 2
hc arena: if you die you loose all your gear and everything in your inventory. before the arenafight starts you can store everything you want in a chest. you have to decide if you want to be more successful and risk your best gear or play it safe with only low-level armor
FirstEngagement 6 months ago
I think each player going into PVP should be able to state what's at stake before the game starts. So if you want you can put cash down, or gear, or for the real hardcore players your characters life down. That way it would still be fun and something's at stake but it's laid out before the start of the match.

White1nsane 6 months ago
imo, now knowing that the normal arena will be a team deathmatch sandbox playground (which i dont like), the hardcore arena should take the place of a more esports like arena. It should be of the die and out type of thing, without losing ur gear, allowing for a more competitive scene. All pvp besides this arena (if there is any) should be like pve, thus losing all your gear from dying.
Ta3pi 6 months ago
The only way to stop farming is to limit the item price in real money and gold vice versa

if the high-end items will be hard to get for me, imagine army of chinese farmers trying to get the items. Who will get the items first? Yes, oversaturation again.
MuF123 6 months ago
Everyone is talking about farmers but no one even mentions about regional AH/markets only.
In HC pvp could be a mode that if you drop below 50% you are considered defeated. Then you would go back to town or they could do like you need to walk to specific point/points in arena with your remaining 50% hp to be able to go to town ofc others could if they pleased try to kill you when you r doing that :D. This could be implemented instead normal win=death of other guy option :).

Hardcore characters should only have one death, period. But at the same time if you risk more you should get more. Let the player that wins loot the player that lost when the match is over, that can be kind of a reward. Or let them choose a specific number of items from the other player.
