  • 5 dislikes? Really people? Get a life, lol.

  • I'll marry you Jeremy

  • Many many thanks.

  • Jeremy Brett is a man after my own heart!!

  • MY favorite part was: "I NEVER joke at breakfast time!" *smile*

And the part where he said, "I thought you loved me." I couldn't STAND it!!

  • So you guys are aware, her name is Joanna David and she also read an abridged version audiobook of Pride and Prejudice for Penguin Classics. And Jeremy sounds almost exactly like Holmes from the hidden object Sherlock Holmes games from Big Fish games

  • I always wondered how Mrs Gardener from Pride and Prejudice looked as a young woman. Here we are! ;-) Thanks for posting!

  • You can buy this on DVD by all accounts...a site called ioffer. A friend emailed me to let me know.

  • Funny that Jeremy and Anna Massey didn't speak to each other during the whole filming of Rebecca......reason...Jeremy had just bought their son David a motorbike for his birthday and Anna was so angry with Jeremy.

  • I'm so severly in love with Jeremy Brett. It's agony. Sexy and handsome are words that barely scratch the surface when trying to describe him. I'll love you forever, JB! xo

  • Oh how I love you Jeremy Brett!

  • He is simply stunning. I would have married him in a flash

  • "I'm asking you to marry me, you FOOL"

What a dominating character, I don't think I'd say yes to someone like that at all!

But Jeremy Brett was a hottie when he was young :)

  • I need to watch the whole thing now.

  • *faints* "I'm asking you to marry me you little fool." OH! I JUST DIED! *faints*

    Thanks for uploading!

  • OK now I've got re-read Rebecca just for that scene alone. hehe

  • "I'm NOT joking! ..........I never joke on breakfast time." hahahahah. <3

  • His eyes 3:11 - 3:32... OMG, he is the most beautiful man in a whole world and the best actor ever.

I am waiting for "Rebecca" on DVD, I am so happy!

  • I prefered the original. It was so much more charming.

  • Ooohh he was so sexy!

  • I NEVER joke at breakfast time - lol he is so gorgeous - thanks for the vid :)

  • Jeremy is the BEST! God, marry meeeeee, Jeremyyyy! ;(

  • Oh, man!!! Perfect proposal! If Sherlock Holmes ever loved, and he ever asked a woman to marry him, THAT'S EXACTLY the way he would propose! Straight out, no fluff, no romance, just "marry me"! Jeremy Brett was in tune with Sherlock Holmes before he ever BECAME Sherlock Holmes! What a wonderful man!

  • I don't know who the actress is, but... She just cant stand next to Joan Fountain!

  • Oh! How I miss Jeremy.

  • Bonjour. Je cherche la version française de ce feuilleton, en DVD et VHS. Pourriez-vous me dire où je puis la trouver ? J'ai beaucoup aimé cette adaptation du roman de Daphné du Maurier. D'avance merci d'une réponse. Cordialement.

  • I'm asking you to marry me, you little fool.

Best proposal ever!!!!! Lol Mr B is awesome

  • I was 16 when this was first shown,me and my mum watched it avidly.I was captivated by Mr B from that moment and have been ever since, however ,having read the comment by nivramm76,it confirms what I always thought that meeting him would have been pretty overpowering-but still cool as.

  • Na. Oliver, Fontaine and 1940 all the way.

  • 3:18-3:25 when he says that it is creepy

  • look how tan he is! He must have put so much white on for holmes . . . . Yeah, the damaged penguin, indeed! :) Does anyone have any vids of JB as watson?

  • This is wrong, im used to Jeremy has Holmes and this caracter brings my mind to Gregory House. Nothing bad about this video. :)

  • actually gregory house is based on sherlock holmes and his friend wilson is his watson....

  • You must know that TV productions have more of a 'real feel' and are on a much more strict budget. I think that Brett makes a better Maxim de Winter than Olivier. This scene is far superior to the 1940 version - you can cut the tension with a knife.

  • Jeremy Brett is great! And this actress, it seems that she played Mrs Gardiner in "Pride & Prejudice" series.

  • And Alice Munro in BBC's "The Last of the Mohicans" =)

  • I think Brett studied with Olivier, which is oddly fitting since Olivier was so brilliant in this role....I'm glad he's not trying to copy Olivier. He's more harsh, less sympathetic, but almost as appealing.

  • thank you so very very much for this. Jeremy Brett is such a wonderful actor.

Alright, this may be a stupid question, but I've made an account on the the box and I've found Rebecca, I just don't know how to download it properly. I click on the link but nothing happens. Do I need to download a torrent program?

  • @shulien229 I am huge fan of the Hitchcock version and of the book but have to say this scene with Jeremy Brett is sublime. This is so close to the book and also wonderfully romantic and subtle.

  • This is such a wonderful scene. I love how it's drained of colour so that your eye is drawn to the tangerines on the table (read this scene in the book and you'll realise the symbolism of the tangerines). The actors play it with great subtlety too.

  • He is really beautiful here! But, by God, that moustache annoys me!!!

  • "I'm asking you to marry me you little fool" that just made me giggle

  • All 4 episodes are available for downloading at the torrent site The Box now! Speed is slow so please be patient.

    Enjoy!

  • To all JB fans who are dying to see Rebecca: with some help from a fellow fan I'm going to upload all 4 episodes on the (free) torrent site The Box soon.

  • I just discovered this site. I am one of the fans dying to see all 4 episodes. These clips are so tantalizing! Is there some way to see them?

  • The whole series will be up for downloading on The Box somewhere this weekend or next week. If you can't join I can send you an invite. Just pm me.

  • OMG! OMG! When? When?? Please, I beg you, tell us when?!

  • Watched the whole thing now and Joanna David's character did grow on me eventually. JB is absolutely stunning in this, I think this is the best I've seen him act apart from SH. He owns this part, moustache and all :)

  • I'm at ep 2 now and Joanna David is annoying the h*ll out of me. She looks and acts like a 12-year old schoolgirl... JB is very handsome though, like a romantic version of SH who knows just the right thing to say to a lady.

    *dramatic swoon* :)

  • I'm watching it right now, in 4 parts as it was aired back then. JB looks great (and I normally HATE moustaches! :)

  • Seriously! First time I've *ever* found an actor attractive w/ a moustache!

(Where did you find "Rebecca?" I can't seem to find it anywhere!)

  • Shame he lost the 007 audition to George Lazenby...I bet he wouldn't have packed it in after one film like Lazenby did either.

(fun fact: Brett was beaten again by Roger Moore at the next audition).

  • " I NEVER joke at breakfast time!"

It has always amazed me how J.B. can make the strangest of lines sound perfectly natural. If anyone else had said that, I would have burst out laughing, but with him I was just staring in silent awe.

  • Just delicious!.. One of our countries most innately talented (& oh too sadly late) actors. Gorgeous (&, I'm not gay), and deeply inclined to his part, whatever it asked. He hated Holmes, (such an insular character), but my!, how how he made him sing!.. Dearly dearly missed... Jrx

  • This is the 5th time I've watched this. I just love it!

  • oh... my O_O wow. im pretty new to JB, and the only thing ive seen him in has been Sherlock Holmes (which, of course, rules :D), but this has an all new facet of his abilities. i love it! holy green coffee beans, where can i find the rest of this?!?!

  • This is fantastic! I'd be eternally grateful if we could see the whole thing!

  • Why oh Why is this not available on DVD - I had this on VHS - Jeremy Brett is divine as Maxim - totally superior to the later offering - Joanna David far superior to her daughter Emilia Fox

  • *does a double take at the view count*

Does that say 13059?!?! Wow, people do want more of J.B.'s Maxim! This video should stand as proof that we MUST release the J.B. films!

  • Completely agree with you!! ^_^

  • I think I'm starting to love Jeremy Brett. I want MORE of his Maxim. MORE!!!

  • is it going to be released anytime soon?

  • Not as far as I know : (

  • I really like this! Is there anywhere that the dvd is available?

  • There is no official DVD available, which is a complete shame!

  • That was one of the most romantic scenes of TV fiction i've seen in ages. Bret was one handsome quick witted gent.

  • It's a lovely scene, isn't it? I completely agree with you.

  • I really liked the book 'Rebecca', but when I found out J.B. starred as Max in this film version, I liked it even more! P.s. That tash isn't real, is it???

  • Same here, I enjoyed the book even more after seeing JB's Maxim, Not sure about the tash, whether it's real or not : )

  • What a beautiful man he was!

  • Indeed, Sherlocksweetonme!

    Inside and out. ^_^

    Thank you...

  • Oh My God - could this man be any more beautiful?

  • @MrsWilliamTheBloody. Quite addicitve too. I have just caught myself watching this YET again. :-)

  • Jeremy is very addictive indeed...so welcome, he is the best addiction going. ^_^

  • Totally agree!!!

Thank you for saying so. ^_^

  • Oh, I am so much happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've got the whole version of this movie from USA!!!!!

In English, what's the most important, because I study it.

Now I have 3 movies "Rebecca":))))

  • Hi would you please tell me where you got your copy of this adaption of Rebecca. I simply love Jeremy Brett.

  • Hi! I found one USA fan of it in Internet, and bought his version. He just sent it to me in return for money. Sorry for my mistakes, I am not native speaker:). But after I got it I found out that someone was saling the same version on DVD on Ebay. You should try to look for it there:)))

  • believe I just messaged you...LOL

    Shall have to check.

We love him to, so I understand. ^_^

  • Ooh love his interpretation of Maxim.

  • Very happy you enjoyed it, LaFeeVerte1209.

I shall pm you, in case you would like to see more... ^_^

  • This is a great find. I have read so much about this version and have to say - just based on the two clips - that I can see why people love it so much. Thanks so much for posting this. I wish I could watch the whole thing. :-)

  • I just sent you a pm. :)

Thank you very much for such a lovely comment, chislehurstbat.

We love Jeremy in it, simply love him! ^_^

  • LOL. I think it's so funny that everyone here (including myself) is a fangirl lol!

  • AkiraChan24..LOL...Yes, it is, but at least we are all together sharing our little (or big), Jeremy love shall we say. ^_^

  • "Will you marry me?"

Oh, yes-yes-yes!!!Just kiss me because I can't stand waiting any more!

Your 42 doesn't seem too old for my 20!!! We would be an extremely happy couple if we got married... I really would like to be on her place! I had to be!

  • HappyChild1989, we totally understand where you are coming from and agree. :)

Happy you enjoyed him so much and thank you!

    ^_^

  • Beautiful.. wish I could see the whole thing. I met him once - he called me "Carol"... I was only 15 - he was huge!

  • OMG! Sorry for taking so long to respond.

You are one of the lucky people to have met him. :)

    He was tall, wasn't he?!

Please tell us more if you remember.

I shall message you re where to find Rebecca. ^_^

Thanks so much for the comment.

  • How did you meet him? :)

  • He and Edward Hardwicke were on stage in London for a Sherlock Holmes run - my mum got tickets through her company to meet the cast. Edward Hardwicke had a bad cold so we couldnt meet him, but Jeremy was there. He kissed my mum and me! Hugely powerful terrifying man!

  • lol you're very lucky :)I'm betting he was very tall

  • Lucky indeed! ^_^

    Oh, the thought of it!

  • OMG! Faint! LOL

Heaven, positively heaven, to have met and kissed our fabulous man.

Thank you for sharing with us! ^_^

  • Jeremy Brett is wonderful in this scene. Thanks JBrettsgirl for posting this. Too bad I can't find the entire thing :(

  • We are really happy you enjoyed it! :)

I shall message you re where you can find the entire thing. ^_^

    Thanks, huckleberryfinn01!

  • He's so wonderful in this role - could you please tell me where to find the entire thing, too? I'd be so grateful! Thanks for uploading. ;)

  • You are absolutely right! He is Mr. DeWinter! I don't understand why this is not out on DVD.

  • messaging you now... :)

  • Much easier to see in this version how they are a terrible match... how she truly isn't cut out for him or his world. With Joan Fontaine, the "girl" is so much less a finished character, for most of the film you think she'll grow into her role, just fine.

With Brett, the proposal has a sadist touch... with Olivier just a wistful, earnest one.

  • This is our favorite version, not only because we are huge Jeremy lovers, but also because it shows more human weakness, characteristics, etc,. The moodiness of Max is brought out so well by Jeremy. He was perfect in our opinion. :)

  • Im 28 and your 42 is not old at all for me Mr.Brett...we love u and thank you so much JBrettsgirl for posting this!

  • Thank you, colossusrising. :)

He is wonderful in it and of course looks fab as well. ^_^

  • What a coincidence - mother and daughter in the same role! Joanna David playing the second Mrs. de Winter in this adaptation and Emilia Fox in 1997.

I would love to see more of this though. What a pity it has not been released on DVD.

  • wonderful Jeremy, of course, but if someone asked me to marry them, then told me, in so many words, that one day they would have to remind me that I did once love them (what he said after she spoke of crying all night), I would have to think twice. True, that sly smile might just make me say yes, but what a horrid proposal....I would be terrified of him.

  • I love the title of this video "Jeremy Brett - Rebecca - Proposal scene". *pictures a proposal from Jeremy* ;)

  • Yes, isn't that a beautiful thought, my friend? *Faint* ^_^

  • Joanna David is not a bad actress!!! She is one of the best! How could you say such a thing???!!!

  • this woman is such a bad actress...what a shame!

  • Please post more scenes from this movie. It's absolutely wonderful!

  • We are happy you enjoyed it, thank you. :) Jeremy was so wonderful in it. We can't push our luck by posting too much. Have already run into a problem on another. :(

  • ooooh Venice, Ravenna, Ragusa, Petra, Athens, Salonika, Adrianople, Istanbul, Smyrna, Bodrum, Tarsus, Ephesus, Antioch, Aleppo,

Homs, Hama, Tripoli, Beirut, Damascus, Sidon, Haifa, Ashkelon, Yerushalem, Jericho, Petra,

Sinai, Alexandria, Gaza, Thebes, Luxor. That would the ultimate Honey Moon Voyage!

  • Thank-you, thank-you for that scene!! I knew about the series but have never seen anything from it, it was amazing, Jeremy Brett was just so amazing!! fingers crossed for the dvd to be released at somepoint!! where did you get the clip from?? thanks again!!!

  • Unfortunately, a dvd release is not likely. There are problems with the copyright for some reason, at least that is what they say. However, I will message you with some info that might help you. I couldn't agree with you more, Jeremy was simply amazing! :)

  • **Thank you** for posting this scene! This is the first time I've seen *any* of this series, although I've been searching for it for ages (and I've loved the book for years and years). Why on earth isn't this version available on DVD?!

  • You are welcome. :) I have just messaged you with info and I hope it helps. Copyright problems (at least that is what has been claimed), is the supposed reason for no new release of this gem. Thanks so much and we are happy you enjoyed it. :)

  • As always, Jeremy's performance sends shivers up my spine...

  • He does ours as well. :) Take care...

  • wouldn't Jeremy have made a wonderful Gatsby?

  • Yes he would have. Also, a perfect Mr. Darcy and the best Phantom of the Opera. Well, I could go on and on..believe me. LOL

  • I bet he made a great DeWinter. Is this available on dvd? I just love Jeremy Brett! My daughter and I saw the 1940 version of rebecca on TCM a little while ago and would love to see this one also. I bought The Good Soldier from Borders but they don't seem to have this one. That was good, by the way. Dark and sad, but a good story. Thanks for posting these clips for us!

  • I just messaged you with the info. :) Oh, I LOVE the Good Soldier! Brettilicious!!!! In Rebecca, Jeremy and all his Brettishness shine through perfectly. You will love it. Take care, and thank you. :)

  • It's fantastic!!!

Rebecca is one of my favorite books and I love the film from Hitchcock an the musical was amazing too.

Can you me please tell, where I can find the full movie?

  • I just messaged you with the info. :)

Yes, Jeremy was a fantastic Maxim. The very best in my opinion. Happy you enjoyed it. Thank you!

  • Yes, he's very good in this part--only a bit warmer and more likable than the Maxim of either the book or the original movie.

  • You forgot something, the most handsome ever! :) LOL I love to add that, but of course, that is the way I feel. :)

  • can i get hte info of the full version too? pleeeaaseee?

  • I just messaged you the info, sweetie. :)

  • hi this looks amazing. rebecca is one of my favourite books!

pleeeaze tell me how to get. pleeaaze i've got to watch this!

  • I just messaged you with the info. Jeremy was amazing. :)

  • I too would live to find the entire movie. Jeremy as Maxim seems just as good as Olivier. Please post any info you can get us on the entire movie.

  • I just messaged you with info. :)

  • I haven't ever seen the entire thing before, do you know where I could find it? Thank you! I have always liked Jeremy Brett in Sherlock Holmes, and I was excited to find him in this as well.

  • Sorry for the late reply. Yes, I will message you re where to find it. He was wonderful as Maxim. Have you seen 'Pitt'? He was amazing in that as well. Of course, he was an amazing man period. :)

  • JBrettsgirl - I'd be grateful if you would send me the information about where to find the whole production too. He was perfect for the part - better than Olivier by miles.

  • I just messaged you with the info. :)

Thank you, I agree with you 100%.

    Jeremy rules! :)

  • I'm so glad I found this - he's so perfect for this role, so dashing!

  • We think he is perfect as well. :) Thank you very much for the lovely comment.

  • If anyone is interested in getting a VERY affordable copy of this production of "Rebecca," send me a private message.

  • bgb310547, I have just messaged you. :)

Many thanks for you lovely comment, we appreciate it very much. Follow the links to our websites that I provided for more Jeremy.

    Thanks again! :)

  • What a great job you have made of your webpage, have you considered setting up a website to honour Jeremy Brett.

And may I ask where can you purchase REBECCA from I have searched for the DVD for several years now but have never been successful.

  • OMG!!! I saw this on PBS many years ago, and I've searched for it for years, and here it is

on youtube, right under my nose! DVD info, please?! He is the ultimate Maxim.

  • Yes, he is the ultimate... "period". :)

I have messaged you with info.

We are happy you enjoyed the clip and thank you for the lovely comment. :)

  • Thanks for these Rebecca videos. I never saw this version, but I really love Jeremy Brett as Max !!! Can't you post a few others videos of this 'Rebecca' ?

  • Jeremy rules as Max and everything else. :) LOL We are happy you enjoyed them, thank you.

  • I was 16 when I first saw this and wrote to PBS. I received a letter from Mr Brett himself and a signed photograph. I still have it today. I wish they would release this Mystery Series! Thanks for the memories!

  • That is lovely that you received a signed photograph of our dear man and even better that you still have it. :) Great! Yes, wouldn't that be fantastic if they released it again?! Happy to share the memories with you. :) Thank you.

  • I LOVE this story and have been looking for this film for years! It was a joy to see the clip! Please, please upload more sometime!

  • We love it as well. Very happy you enjoyed it, thank you. :)

  • Hi, JBrettsgirl! Thanks for posting this clip of a lovely, haunting tale, done so well by JB, a lovely, haunted man. It's as though someone got inside my head and filmed my dream of who Maxim de Winter should be. JB beautifully portrays his despair (on the hotel terrace, a tear tracing his cheek) hidden in a shell of insensitivity. In the post, the play of emotion is a wonder: fear, hope, relief, love. Only then is the vulnerable, sweet man inside the shell seen. Is the DVD anywhere for sale?

  • You are welcome, Bonnielupine. :) This is one of our favorites and we believe JB was perfect in it. Thank you, lovely to see you feel Jeremy fit it perfectly as well. I will have to message you about the dvd. I will get back to you soon. Many thanks... :)

  • Thanks so much!

  • Hi JBrettsgirl! Thank you for this fantastic video! I am a very great Jeremy Brett fan from Hungary :-) I very like the "Rebecca" in book, but de film with Jeremy...it's sooo amazing! But unfortunately I saw only those scenes in the YouTube :-( But this film so much interests me! Jeremy is playing so well in it! And he is soooo sweet in this scene!!!

    Thank you very much!!! :-)

  • Happy you enjoyed it, Lulufluflu. :) Thank you for the lovely comment. Yes, he was splendid as Maxim as he was in his many other roles. He looked especially handsome in this as well. A beautiful man inside and out. What a fantastic smile he had, melts my heart every time. Many thanks again. :)

  • This is just words can't explain I was 13 years old when I first aw this series and fell in love JB and Maxim. I read the book at least once year and always see JB when doing so. Here's hoping one day the BBC will release it on dvd or VHS. you've made A 40 YEAR OLD VERY HAPPY THANKS

  • Beautiful comment, my dear. Thank you! :)

Jeremy also makes us very happy as well. A stunning man and wonderful in so many ways.

Lovely to meet another Jeremy lover. :)

We must get everyone to sign the petition to release Jeremy's footage. Petition address can be found on our home page here. Thanks again!

  • See this is what happens when my mother steal my account ¬¬ lol

but still she's rubbed off on me ^^ 16 and already mad about Brett!

Love him as Sherlock Holmes and would love to see him in Rebecca but it seems i may have to read the book, since Mother is begging me too anyway :)

    xx

  • LOL, so your mom got on your account did she? Well she has wonderful taste and so do you, my dear. Happy to meet another JB fan. I wish I would have know about him at 16. Good heavens. Lovely to meet you. :)

  • You'll enjoy it Mikomi91 trust me I certainly did. As soon as you start you'll won't want to stop reading til its done. (A bit of a warning though you'll most likely want ring the heroine's neck because of her hestation with Maxim and other characters that are in the book before you're through!)I did lol! Enjoy it its qute a ride!

  • JBrettsgirl do you mean that this version of Rebecca is NOT on dvd or vhs? Rats! JB is the reason I put Rebecca on my Christmas list!

  • "Big Sigh" Now every time I read Rebecca the only person I see as Maxim IS JB! Thank you!

(And that goes SH as well!)

  • Wonderful! Glad to hear that Jeremy has mesmerized you as well. He was fabulous and thanks so much for the lovely comment. Much appreciated. :) Oh yes, he IS the ONLY Sherlock, period.

  • exquisite!!really really thankful to u for such a beautiful collection.

"JBrettsgirl" U said that u know people who know here to get d DVD.. plz gimme pointers to them.

    Thanks again:)

  • "I'm asking you to marry me, you little fool."

That is one of the best lines in a movie ever, spoken by one of the best actors ever. JBrettgirl - thank you for posting the Rebecca clips, it is impossible to find this DVD - I would love to see the whole thing one day. Do they make men like JB anymore? He carries himself and moves so well, so very sexy. My, my, an amazing man. Thank you so much!

  • Such a beautiful comment, my dear. :) Thank you and we must agree with you 100% about our divine JB. No, they don't I'm sorry to say. He was one of a kind in so many ways. A fabulous man indeed and we miss him. I can put you in touch with someone if you would like a copy, just message me sweetie. Many thanks again! :)

  • JBrettsgirl - I would love to find out how to get a Rebecca DVD copy, but I am new to the Youtube system, is there a specific way I should be contacting you other than these posts? So sorry to sound ignorant...

  • I'm sorry, I just saw your comment.

Hit JBrettsgirl which will take you to our homepage here. Then click send message. Truly, very sorry to take so long to get back with you. Have you checked out LiveJournal? Search Jeremy Brett and go to the community of the same name. Lovely posts and tributes there. :)

  • Oh to have a man like that in one's life!

  • Sigh.....good heavens, can you imagine? :) Thank you, sweetie.

  • How completely and utterley wonderful! where did you get your copy? I havve been desperately seeking it and cannot find any!

  • Sorry I am so long in responding. Write/message me darling, and I will give you some names of people who have it. :)

  • Okay no contest! Jeremy Brett is Hottest Man Ever even when he's beening somewhat brooding. And the voice-a voice like his should be outlawed.

  • :) We must agree with completely, SSacha1. Stunning, simply stunning, isn't he?! Crazy about JB we are indeed. Lovely to see you are as well. :)

  • I just put this clip on my favorites you can see it by clicking my screen name.

  • This is definitely the best version& JB's performance is exceptional, but disagree about Joanna David,I think her performance is also beautifully judged, there's a lot going on behind her glances. She captures The Girl's shock at the proposal v well-it's a full 5 seconds before she even blinks&she completely conveys her staggered reaction from the novel-'It was though the King asked one'.The balance between both their performances is fine-I wish we could see the whole series again,Brushgang4

  • We are so happy that everyone loves JB so much! :)Lovely to read your discussions. We think JB is the best Maxim, needless to say. Thank you brushgang4 & Verified1.

  • Yes, we do! Thank you very much for this putting up this clip especially JBrettsgirl; it's the only way I could have seen this series & I'm so happy to be able to see my favourite of all JB's performances again! Brushgang4

  • Still the best recorded performance of Rebecca, IMO. I love to watch it for JB of course, but Joanna David's performance is so often android-like with those catatonic stares she inserts from time to time. I assume these are meant to portray awkward innocence, but
