  • Pretty sure this is the same exact clinic where Jason played the arpeggios from Serena which is quite famous on youtube.

  • Very good. Very exciting. 80's!

  • while very impressive, the later material is way deeper. WHen he started singing that soul .... yeah man too much.

  • He recorded this first album when he was 18. Sick.

  • He is a way more better with Ibanez.....but why with fender?

  • @MasYoNo25 He matured and became a less exciting fret maniac LOL

  • @McMinnManiac your right. It's as if when he came out with his first album he was "in your face" with some rediculous stuff in an effort to grab peoples attention and then kinda started doing other more "tasteful" things. Heck I miss the old stuff. It's still one of my favs.

  • Man I can tell the crowd is blown away. That's why they not saying anything. they just want to listen every bit of the song.

  • @shadowknight132 The crowd is a buch of stoned hippies trying to read the stickers on the body of his guitar LOL

  • need some tabs!!!!! this guy is awsome!

  • @megatallicadeth See what i mean , this guy needs some tabs LOL will he play Star Spangled banner , Hunh

  • Luv this album, think is one of the best!!.. maybe da best one ^^

  • the first kotzen album is an amazing guitar album

reminds me of some of the satch stuff but tons more shred and techniques

plus i just like the music better too

  • love the song !

  • "Squeeze Play" from his first album

  • sorry i didnt see the title

  • what video is this from?

  • i want more from this clinic!!!!

  • what the hell? Atlanta institute of music? i thought he was from pennsylavia

  • a lot of people have had clinics at aim, paul gilbert and jason becker have a good bit

  • he isn't allowed to play in atlanta??

    :)

  • @Vinniemoore89 His parents must have drove him there at recess LOL

  • great guitarrist!

  • Hey, he loves it, why not.

  • I had this song come into my head when I went to cook just then. I like the sonic theatrics he should have kept that up and just tone down the posing. He went a completely different direction after this I think.

  • You can tell he was hanging out with Jason Becker a lot in those days. Jason kind of made him what he was on his debut before he started doing his own thang. I'm kind of glad, because we got albums like Electric Joy. But there's a lack of good creative and fun type shred these days, it's all fusion and heavy neoclassical it seems.

  • THIS GUY CAN PLAY ANY TIME OF MUSIC.From hardcore Shredding to slow melodic music he can do it all is what puts him infront of all guitarst now.

  • looks like hes fukin

  • Really good sounds from that first album .

That ripping kind of playingwould fit in well with Dio . Richie did really well on the "LA Blues authority" CD def changed up his tone scince this 88 footage

  • People keep on about becker and richie kotzen but they dont have the same style of playing at all!!!Kotzen is a great player and becker was too,as is steve vai and Joe Satriani who had songs on Surfing With The Alien that are second to none.

  • HEARHEAR-well said mate

  • man this is awesome...maybe lacking a teency little bit of melody...but even though i love this dudes whammy bar work its really tasty

  • im a big Richie.K Fan

but to tell you the truth i dont like his first album

really wish i could see some Electric Joy stuff around here

    why can't there be a MF,RK,PG and GH G3(4)?

if jason was able to play again i think the world would stop spinning again, war would stop, people would all come together and just be happy...or maybe not but at lest he'll be able to move again Godbless you jason

  • less facial expressions, more playing,

    dont get me wrong

i like his playing very much, but why those

"i am star" movements and B.B King faces???

after all this supposed to be guitar clinic

    not a gig

  • gig or no gig you can feel the music

    can't help but move..you know....show expressions

  • Fever Dream is one of my favourite albums, this track is taken from his first album where his tone isn't great.

  • I must say, Richie's first two (and maybe his 3rd) are some of my favourite all time guitar albums. The sounds that man could coax out of his Ibanez's are just insane. His new stuff is pretty good too and it's been pretty neat to listen to him evolve with every disc but at the same time keep pieces of his old style with his new mature approach. Richie's just plain awesome regardless ... 'nuff said! :)

  • Whoever said that Kotzen is a better player than Becker are obviously not players themselves. Kotzen is probalby better all round, his singing is awesome.

  • lol funny cuz richie is one of the only people who was able to smoke jason on guitar come on man richie kotzen is a great guy

i had the chance to talk to him at a show back in 06 hes still an awsome guitarist

Electric Joy is like a must have album of richie theres so much this guy can do

  • richie will never be a becker

  • i didnt say he was a Becker

but yeah i understand what your saying

  • and becker when he played couldnt have been a richie

  • no, he's a richie kotzen, paul gilbert is a paul gilbert, steve vai is an steve vai and apple will never be pears.

  • nor windows ;)

  • Thank god for that! lol

  • i agree 100%

  • i have to say richie kotzen is damn awesome with incredible chops. BUT if you've heard his first album i thought his guitar sound and the production, even tho it was done by becker, is pretty crappy. i was quite shocked by it but it still had some sick leads and songs

  • Kotzen was'nt a better shredder, but he took jasons sweeping to the next level, and of course this very song was constructed by both richie and jason becker on the album 'richie kotzen' for shrapnel. Becker was the producer.

  • in a way, kotzen is better than jason. Go to jason's website...jason himself admitted that. His technique..and playing style is different. nevertheless..jason is great too..

  • can anyone tell me why turned into such a faggot now he use to be really cool b4

  • it's called maturing.. as a mature musician he believes that vocal outlet is a better outlet. he still plays guitar like mad at his shows though.

  • How i wish ritchie still play his old or first instrumental like what paul gilbert did now,can see the audients drop jaw and forget to clap their hands..

  • D+! grande ícone da guitarra instrumental!

  • I think he gets better with age. He's such a romantic man....his lyrics for the most recent years are so filled with love and lost love...I'm soooo glad he's singing now.

  • by the way, kotzen used to tap like a warrior, it's a shame he did not include it in his modern style, even though i prefer his style now...maybe it was not really appropriated to what he does currently

  • haha what a style

  • As Greg Howe and few others, he's one of these guitarists who have upgraded electric guitar on instrumental music at the end of the 80's...a lot of respect for this dude!

  • i would like to say with all due respect at 1;13 he makes a little gay dance or shifts his hips n stuff lol

  • Looks like he was using some kind of an old Peavey in this clip. Anyone know what it was? I have to say, I prefer his Cornford tone, but he does sound good here.

  • its an ibanez bingy

  • The amp I mean....

  • srry bingooo

  • suban mas yeah

  • wonderfull job man!

richie is so funny when he was young and shred!

  • He only performs 2 songs on this clinic. The rest is 40 mins of talking and playing examples.

  • Could you upload it?

  • I second this request :)

  • Yes pleeeeese upload the rest!

  • UPLOAD PLEASE

  • @hangingmonkey123 plewase can you upload the 40 mins of talking and examples? or can i purchase it from you? i can pay via pay pal and you can just upload it to mega upload, easy money :P
