  • The way they ended with the 'n' consonant was really beautiful and unlike most of the other recordings on YouTube!

  • This is the best SATB arrangement of Ave Maria I have ever heard. I love the blend, especially the ladies at the top of their range. The men also have a really rich tone. Truly a great performance. You guys and Chanticleer do Biebl like no one else!

  • @smoverstreet1 I totally concur. This is beautifully performed.

  • Lovely,lovely!

  • This would be a perfect song to play in the background as the world & humanity are undergoing Global Ascension in 2012!...yes, get enlightened o humanity!!

  • hermoso, impresionante! Bendiciones!!!

  • anyone hear the pipe organ playing around 2:26?

  • @Banaramahama that's our school bell :))

  • bbeautiful

  • Utterly beautiful performance.

  • I love the biebl arrangement

  • So amazing.

  • uuuu que bonito ^^

  • this was very nice :) especially if they're only an 18 person size group

  • Absolutely amazing. This was perfect. :)

  • Absolutely wonderful =)

  • bellisimoooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

  • We sang this version at my spring choir concert my senior year 7 years ago. I still tear up everytime I hear it. We sang the verision with first Soprano, first Alto, and first Tenor singing the Choir 1 part, and second Soprano, second Alto, second Tenor, and Bass singing the Choir 2 part.

  • We sang this version at my spring choir concert my senior year 7 years ago. I still tear up everytime I hear it.

  • wonderful!

  • stupenda... davvero bravi

  • so full of power

  • Amazing ...

  • This song is so gorgeous. The women's tone in this song gives me the imagery of stained glass, so beautiful.

  • Yes, PERFECT!!!!! :-)

  • sang this song in Jr High chior...blew everyone away and I can still remember the words and chords for the second bass. That was in 1992 , thats the mark of a good song.

  • omg my high school is singing that song and it so happens that our school name is the same! go lshs lancers in socal!

  • Wow. Goosebumps. Fantastic!

  • the highest woman's voice is AMAZING!!! So pure, beautiful, what I want to sound like! Great job guys!!

  • hey were singing this in my choir!!!

  • Joy Rising!

  • Amazing!!! This is the way this song was meant to be performed.

  • The elegance of this performance--- the shimmering effect of the women's voices is beauty beyond description, and lays to rest--- in my mind--- the notion that this piece must only be performed by men's choruses. Thank you.

  • @joanlitman This performance is magnificent. I've sung this with Mens

Chorus and also would have thought the piece could only be performed all male...not so!.. Superb phrasing, dynamics and pacing...Bravo!!

  • This is really impressive. But i still like the sound of all men doing it. But this is definitely in my top list

  • Agreed...

  • wow this is a hs choir??

  • No, at the time of the recording the singers were still with the university as college students. Perhaps you have mistaken this group with the Tualatin HS choir, this video was posted in response to their video.

  • This was indeed a celestially beautiful interpretation! I am proud to have been a member of the DLSU Chorale, batch 1995, as Bass Two. For those interested, some of the alumni of DLSU Chorale have banded together to form Coro Animo -- I recommend that you check out their 2009 performance of "Give Me Jesus" and "Magsiawit Kayo Sa Panginoon" (Sing To The Lord). The current DLSU Chorale will be holding a concert this September 18 -- looking forward to their future European / Asian / US tours!

  • The combined 2007 Notre Dame and Michigan men's Glee Clubs rendition is outstanding.

  • i agree wholeheartedly!

  • This is my absolute favorite version of the piece (men singing first choir, women singing the second choir part). Thanks for posting!

  • hasslehorse ang school bell hazzdt!

    but i love, love, love!

  • I have sung this piece and know how HARD it is ... this group deserves MASS appaluse for doing such an excellent job

  • This is a very challenging piece...particually because it is double choir...them inner parts are killer. I thought that this group did a beautiful performance of ths piece and I was really inspired...thank you very much. Like the slower, dragged out tempo too, beautiful interpretation.

  • if it's not too much, can I have a copy (just 1) of this piece? even in PDF format or whatever... Finale would be great...

  • I first heard the Chanticleer version, and then started 'touring' the others... there was a lovely all-women's version, and then this one...

there was another with poorer quality sound, which was a pity... but the piece is absolutely stunning! I'm so glad someone sent it to me! I just want to levitate!!

  • how can i have its piece???

  • It's Ave Maria, by Franz Biebl. It's also been recorded by Chanticleer. We sang it at the Baha'i House of Worship in Wilmette years ago, which is where I came to love it myself.

  • very nice sopranos and male section guys!!

  • I have to agree with DrMalPracktiss and others below. I've always been partial to the all-male arrangements of this piece, but this was gorgeous! Wiping away unexpected tears!

  • I don't think I can shed another tear over this piece, and BAM! - someone comes along and presents another interpretation of it, with all their own nuance, and there I go again.

    Gorgeous - thanks for posting.

  • This is so heavenly! It's the most beautiful song I've ever heard in my life. Ave Maria Gratia plena Dominus tecum Benedicta tu in mulieribus Et benedictus fructus ventris Tui, Iesus Sancta Maria Mater Dei Ora pro nobis peccatoribus Nunc et in hora mortis nostrae Amen.
  • wow. the blend achieved by the group is magnificent. I never thought I'd like to hear this song performed with men and women, but they sold me.

  • This is the best I've seen on U2B. The chord on nostrae is my favorite. As a note though, i wouldn't be able to tell what they are saying if i didn't know the song.

  • The men sound better than the women on this particular recording I think, but still excellent all round!

  • This is great. I didn't think it'd be this good. :) Great job. Amazing. :')

    Asians. <3

  • Why didn't you think it would be so good?

Anyway, it's interesting to hear choral performances by a single ethnic group. Together, they have a kind of 'averaged' accent which gives the performance a unique flavor. Compare this (great) rendition with the Follesø Mannskor (Norwegian) rendition also hosted on YouTube to see what I mean.

  • this is the most amazing thing i've ever heard. It's heavenly

  • BEAUTIFUL

  • This is wonderful! I used to be such a fan of the men's version with trio soloists (I was the Tenor 1 so I was biased perhaps) and didn't like the SATB version when I performed it again with a different choir because it got so overwhelming with the higher octave...or so I thought. This is exactly perfect...heavenly! You guys sound GREAT!

  • Wow. Absolutely beautiful. Fantastic control in the Sopranos' upper register. Thank you!

  • excellent.....

  • this sounds hot as hell

  • thank you for posting this. i prefer sopranos and altos for this piece, instead of all male. boo!

  • One of my favorite YouTube renditions of this piece. Wish I could've been there. And I too am disappointed that it was abbreviated.

  • the best

  • Visit the Chorus CSD in Youtube!!!

  • it's a nice change from the ttbb arrangement that chanticleer made so famous. regardless of anyone's preference, this is a superb choir.

  • Sung with much reverence. Beautiful.

  • this version is excellent! our choir just performed this piece on sundaay with a slightly different arrangement (SATB with SAT trio) but this arrangement is certainly beautiful as well!

  • I will also say I think this is the best version of the Bieble Ave Maria on YouTibe: beautiful full tone, appropriate tempo for the size of the group and the phrasing is just right. I wish we could hear all the verses.

  • I think DLSU sang this song very well. Though I was expecting more from the sopranos. Overall BRAVO!

  • True music. Absolutely beautiful.

  • this is amazing!

biebl's version is by far the best

  • wow,,,,,,,,heavenly

  • Our choir is men and women, and we all did it. I had the solo chant at the beginning.

  • Beautifully Done!!!!!

  • Celestial interpretation. Keep up the excellent work. Where is this group performing now?

  • Eh, Its better TTTBBB.

    Still nicely done.

  • hai.... i love this piece.. my choir group sang this is in our concert... hope i can also post the video of this piece...

  • I'm a serious Chanticleer fan, and they nail it every time they perform this music. But after listening to this performance, I am tingling. Wonderful to hear it sung in a new key and with fresh interpretation.

    MARVELOUS.

  • Masterful!!!

  • I have listened to most of the Ave Maria by Biebl on You Tube. I think this is the best one.

  • I respectfully disagree (Chanticleer is my favorite), but it is nice to hear a female timbre rather than a male's. I also wish they would have sung the 2nd verse, but this group did it well!

  • I have shivers! You guys took it so slow that it let the beautiful chords resonate and really reach the audience. Wonderful job.

I just performed this last night. I am the Alto in the Trio. :)

  • Awesome recording. Heavenly.

  • that was simply fantastic....wished you had not abbreviated it. You have some powerful voices yet an incredible blend!!!

  • i have never seen this sung as SSATTBB... only TTTBBBB

  • Just beautiful!! That's such a difficult piece to sing. Their pitches were amazing!

  • Wow, amazing!

  • Uau!

Estão de parabéns! Que sonoridade linda!

    Perfeito.

  • Obregado.

  • Very Nice!! The Pacifica Chorale in Orange County does a fantastic men only version sung around the audience...pure magic!

  • Yes. I sang that with John Alexander.

  • This performance was conducted by the De La Salle Univeristy Chorale conductor Prof. Rodolfo Delarmente

  • wow.. smashing.. who's conducting?

  • What group is this?

  • The group who performed is De La Salle University Chorale. The batch performing have already graduated and formed a new group called Coro Animo.

  • One of the best arrangements I've heard. It must of made Our Lady very happy!

  • beautiful! yum, wow Great Dynamics! I had to comment after hearing the whole thing...!

  • great tone, lush, would have liked a rounder "i" sound of Maria instead of the "ee" sound, it sticks out... great blend otherwise for a SATB group...

  • I love the spirit by which this was sung. The interpretation is excellent. I tend to like the All male arrangement the best of the piece, but I loved the way this mixed choir did it!
