all these manuevers can be pulled at high speed and good in combat, most of the sukhoi planes require it go slow for it tricks............stopping mid air with a sam on your ass to do a little flip isnt gonna save you LOOL
So is the vapor created when the jet is going trans-sonic? Thats crazy to be going that fast and then pull those crazy maneuvers. I wonder what the can do when is going over mach 2.
I wish they would show the real speed of these jets.
@Rc1honda: The vapor you see when the plane is maneuvering is actually the result of the water vapor condensing in the airflow over the high angle of attack surfaces. The high AOA means very low air pressure, resulting in the condensation.
When you see the 'cone' around the aircraft at high speed, it's a similar effect. Only in that instance the water vapor condenses thanks to the transonic shock wave.
F-22 is too expensive and to important to risk in formation stunt flying like the T-Birds do. My guess would be that the Thunderbirds next plane will be the F-35A
These days any aircraft has been on the drawing boards for 15 years or more befor it see's service. and the F-22A is a much different aircraft than the YF-22 Prototype built back then
Alot of people don't realize how much design and development goes into a fighter design befor it is finalized. For example the F-16A entered USAF service in 1980, but the prototype YF-16 was built in 1972 and was based on design proposals from the mid 1960's
I think I just jizzed in my pants. The F-22 is truly a revolutionary craft that is impeccable in design. If you have ever seen one up close, every angle and characteristic is immaculate. Lockheed Martin in coordination with the Boeing has really pushed the envelope with the creation of this lethal monster exceeding the requirement for U.S. Air Dominance.
I saw one in San francisco. When its coming at you, you hear absolutely nothing, I mean its totally silent. Its earry. Once it passes you or the enemy is toast it roars like a lion basically.
Yeah they are similar yet so different. I went up in a Mig 15 when I was 17 for a birthday present. The mig 15 is an old jet and that even packed a decent punch. Was put through 7.5-8 G's. I was sick as a dog when we were through. We went low through canyons at high speed then up into a verticle climb. We did it all!
Awesome video. We had a demo up here in Alaska a couple days ago. It was awesome. Btw, Very good camera work. Did you use a tripod or was that all hand?
