Cheap old fabric capo, but the web tells everyone to spend loads on clumpy metal, adjustable shiny capos for +$20. Just get a $4 capo and spend time with the guitar, not guitar forums,
İ dont agree wit you. you should not think that way . because rock masters are rock masters. flemenco masters are flamenco masters are flemenco masters. you cant compare them . can you compare a rally driver and a F1 driver ??
@undertowist call rock nascar, and call flamenco F1, and you've got yourself a comparison. Listen to friday night in SF, fusion opened the doors for comparisons between the genres.
Awww, don't feel that way - not everybody can be this talented. Your comment made me laugh out loud, though. I do understand where you're coming from, though, b/c I play piano and I totally realize what a rank amateur I am when I watch concert pianists. However, I still get much joy from being able to play. I know you were probably joiking - well, at least, I hope you were !
@4vengedsevenfold I did not vote on it but the fact it ends so abruptely and also proving the picture might not be fitting the soundtrack could explain this.
Also, a blues book I read years ago says to only look at sheet music a couple of times to get the idea, then put it away and play what you think sounds right.
Country/delta bluesmen had an amazing rhythm and could change at the drop of a hat, but they didn't count beats which is the standard way to handle rhythm in rock/modern-blues/jazz. Just let the flow go where it wants.
The talk about learning music, I assume you mean reading music and music theory. Reading music might be essential in classical and theory in Jazz, but for the most part they aren't in other music. Some think it stifles creativity.
I've found they can augment any music to some degree. I say learn them, but don't rely on them. Learning to improvise is #1 in my books. About theory, do what sounds good then use music theory to figure-out what you did so you can do it somewhere else.
you know...I am a diehard rock/heavy metal fan but when people start to argue who the best guitar players are I always say the flamenco dudes...there is no comparisson with anything on this planet
@davekeays yeah man Jose is amazing too, and one of th ebst things about him is that he can play literally any kind of music flamenco, rock, classical, you name it

@Ibakecookiess I agree! as much time as the day allows with getting adequate rest and 100% focus to the guitar and this level is reachable in that about that time. Videos of paco at 16 and he is amazing, although he had been playing guitar his whole life... believe that his serious study/practice started at age 12. do the math 4 yrs of 12 hours a day and I'm sure the right mind can do it.
@kaditano86 he didnt say "in my case". Actually most of your translation is pretty off. This is correct: "I've asked great musicians if I must learn music and they've told me 'No, its not necessary.'"
generally i don't say "the best" for any guitarist. again i won't say. but when i should say something about classical guitar or flamenco, only one name appears on my mind...

Did you know that Andres Segovia said that Paco was not a guitarist? I have to say that the old Maestro was sorely mistaken with that comment. Paco is a Flamenco player, not a Classical player, and as such he is the best there is and opened the door for many new artists. If I have to choose between a a Buleria and a Sarabande...
@UncleTito72 Segovia was an ass to say that of Paco. As a rule great musicians don't bad mouth another. Doesn't matter. I listen to Paco and never Andres... In fact I don't listen to much of anybody else. :-)
@kencc4791 I think that Segovia simply didn't want to acknowledge that such a young musician had such great talent. I don't know if it relates, but in my family my grandparents were really old fashioned and expected me to do poorly at something that they would teach me, and when I would do good, they would say I did it wrong. So I would think that Segovia thought the old fashioned way and was kind of in denial of Paco's talent.
OMG. Its as if God came down just to play flamenco guitar for us, what a treat. Now, I dont really know if there is a God but the sound of this mans playing is very divine.

Absolutely amazing. His fingers are dancing all across the neck. As a Flamenco guitar player watching something like this it leaves me with a large smile by how amazing and well he can play.
My feeling is that it puts the key in keys like Db maj ( if played in C position) or the pay key of Bb minor......
or in the key of Eb maj / C min id played out of D position....
