I'd tune in every week...to watch Randy sing this theme song. Then I'd switch to whatever else was on. I think this torpedoed Bochko's career, didn't it?
@WesMantooth73 Yes it was! This song was pretty cool though. That was probably the only positive was the intro. I really don't understand what the Hell they were thinking though. It was pretty bad!
As strange as it may sound, but I actually ENJOYED the show. I remember I recorded the episodes on VHS when it was broadcasted back then especially the songs. Wish it was released on DVD now though.
Under the sun. Under the doors. Under the doooooooooooooooor. When you see some darkened beer. & I had to sign a Coke for everyone. In the audit, on the stair. You called it out, we'll be there. When no one else seems to care, 59 doodoo Conan. Under the door. Under the door. 59 doodoo Conan.
After watching that intro, I have no f'ing clue what the hell this show is about!?! What were they thinking?! And the only words that I understood from Randy's mouth was under the gun.
now i know why i never watched this show...could NOT get past the awfully nauseating opening song. damn, they had a gem beneath this garbage. too bad...
@ruterger That is Mike Post...the guy who composed "Law & Order", "Hill Street Blues", "LA Law", "NYPD Blue", "The Rockford Files", "The A-Team", "Quantum Leap" and other themes.
I think what happened is they put all the talent and good songs in the first couple episdes. Then they had nothing left. I think a movie, or may just one song or so for each episode would have worked out better. The showe was strange, but there are a few really good songs in it.
Funny, a large number of people had to give this show the OK before it aired in TV. People had to pitch the idea and somebody accepted it. A team of writers and producers had to get together and come up with a pilot show. A group of executives critqued it, talked about it, compared it to other pilot shows, and then decided that this show would be a success and put it on TV. And I remeber this show was heavily promoted. Amazing that so many people had to believe in this show to get it on the air

It sure was nice of the producers and actors to let that man with Downs Syndrome play the piano for them.

Who is this?! My parents and their friends from the pot luck wanting to be rockers while embarrassed looking actors pretend to be into it?
I know who Randy Newman was, but this is bad even for him, and I'm 42.......

@seanellio Yes. Just too much to expect good songs in a weekly series.
Even Paul McCartney couldn't provide tunes that fast.

Theme song composer Mike Post appears at 0:21. Hill Street Blues as a musical...the acting was good...the singing was just strange.
