I have a question, and hope anyone here could help me figure out what the answer is : Is this instrumental a traditional one or not ? Cause on their album, the corrs did not mentioned whether it was the case or not, and on some site it is trad, and on some other they say the contrary.

I'm pretty sure the liner notes for 'Talk on Corners' say that it's traditional. And even if the Corrs composed the tune, its structure is that of an Irish reel. Sound just like one. New tunes are being added to the tradition all the time :)

Okay, apparently I made the mistake of assuming you knew the first thing about violin playing when I made that comment.

I am well aware that as far as note speed goes, there are much, MUCH faster songs out there. It's about the slurs. This song uses only one note per bow stroke. Which means that she has to move her arm up and down for each note. Take it from someone who actually knows what he's talking about, it is tiring. Sharon's a goddess.

Her interpretation of the tune uses one bow stroke. She's using classical violin bowing for a fiddle tune which always sounds stupid. Fiddling has different bow patterns than classical technique. This is what mostly distinguishes violin from fiddle styles despite being the same instrument.. I play several instruments and have been playing Irish and Celtic music for over a decade. I actively gig and have recorded. I don't think you really have any idea what good music is.

Okay, no matter how long you've played:

Saying that classical violin bowing means using one note per stroke = wrong

Just like saying that fiddle bowing means using many notes per stroke. The problem with people who get really good at instruments is that some of them forget what makes a song good. They become fans of the videos where the players only show off on how fast they can play and the techniques they can use instead of giving you a nice song.

What makes a player good is not his ability to play a thousand notes per second or using billions of techniques. It's his ability to play a melody that's beautiful to listen to. And this is something Sharon excels at.

I didn't say either of those things about bowing. I pointed out her poor interpretation. You have to be able to play to interpret. Also, this is not a "song", it's a "tune". Proof once again you have no knowledge of the music at hand. The problem with newbies is that they think they know how to play cuz mommy says so, when in fact they suck! Aw, and lay off the "knowing this name makes me better than you" technicalities. Tunes, jigs, reels, whatever you wanna call them, at the end of the day, they're all songs.

You should also note that not once did I say I was a good player. I just said that unlike you, I know how to appreciate music for how enjoyable the melody is, and not for how big a show-off the player is.
