  • I am a homeschool mom who is doing a Robotics unit with my son. It is amazing how this arm is made from plastic!

  • You can't speak until you have the "talking egg". Should the "talking egg" break, all must remain silent.

  • doc ock! shall be real!!!

  • ich find den voll putzig...ich will auch einen <3

  • how much cost? ?

  • Robot apocalypse, here we come.

  • Really amazing thing, but i think, that material is not very strong, like a Doctor Octopus claws.

  • Holy Shit Doctor Octopus claws. He have to make sure Alfred Molina stays at least 20 yards away from one of these at all times for our own safety. Or put him and 4 of them in the same room together and see what happens for our own pleasure.

  • These Festo guys watched too much Spider-man 2.

    Dr. Octopus would be proud.

  • awesome, but i find more interesting the airic's arm.

  • die Beispiele sind ja wohl schwach

  • Thats a big egg. Tell me more about the egg

  • ostrich

  • cool it can only pass eggs around

  • @5:36 "He will..."

Seems appropriate that the tentacle robot is a "HE".

  • nice but very technological and a bit poor on possible implementations examples

  • @zever not very technical. The entire arm is basically just tough balloons, i'm sure similar simple designs could be made with injection moulding instead of the (expensive) rapid prototyping machine they used to make this one.

The complex bit is the valves and the control electronics/software, but luckily the valves are all kept in a single compact box.

The software will be the best part, as it can be continually updated and improved. With such a new bot, i'm sure there's be a lot of that.

  • @roidroid I wouldn't say the cost of rapid prototype is much more expensive vs injection molding if you factor in the probability*cost of wanting to change the design slightly or be able to print a task specific design.

  • @walterjennings True. i never thought of it like that.

But can rapid prototyping ramp up to the mass production scales that are generally required (afaik) to make production economical/profitable?

  • What I wouldn't give to work at Festo's R&D department.

  • if all the nurses are like that then sindelfingen is where i wanna go when i get sick

  • its Doctor Octopus arm!

  • @2bpilot

    you bet

  • lol at 4:07 its trying to grab her boob

  • i bet that would give a nice handjob
