this is fucking siiiiicccckckkkkkkkkk..!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this one of a kind motha fucka...
thats so wierd... ive never really listened to this guy before and people kept telling me my music sounds like his... now i see that their all right... fuccckkkkkkkk back to the drawing board..
The effect is a Digitech Whammy pedal. Tom Morello of RATM and Doug Wimbush of Living Colour use them a lot too.
Most electronic music is pretty dull to me too but I like how Squarepusher brings a high level of musicianship to the genre. He inspired me to create my own form of electronica incorporating "real" instruments. Though I did see him in Melbourne years ago and was disappointed as there was no bass playing and just painful industrial noises for over 2 hours.
Well I guess that's the shallowest way of putting it...
And come to think of it - stuff like that matters. Think of how many words are used incorrectly and then imagine how much more subjective and complicated our (social) world becomes because of small things like that.

it looks like a larry graham style slap, although he throws some nice double-thumbing in there, as well

I don't think it's a Whammy pedal. Sounds more like a ring modulator or some sort of granular processing.

One small remark - Squarepusher doesn't write "songs"...

A song is a musical piece that has singing in it. These are musical pieces with no singing, so they are considered to be tracks or simply - pieces.
