Girugamesh is a band that should continue to be looked down upon. Those guys are the epitomy of trash. They don't even resemble the band that I saw last year at AB. They look like Green Day wannabes and their music is still crap. Disband soon plz. They have NOTHING to bring to J-rock. Good lord.
As an avid Girugamesh fan, I have slowly been more dissapointed ever since COLOR because of the weakness that has been showing but Inochi no Ki and Destiny were good but they still lacked some punch and when GO came along I was really disappointed. But it's true that Girugamesh are always trying different things, you only have to look at the major differences in the albums prior to this to see that, so hopefully we may seem some golden Giru one again !
all this "ooh they have to grow to evolve their sound bla bla" makes me fucking sick. girugamesh neither grow or evolve with their sound/concept, nor are they in some "experimental phase". they first simply can't really decide what exactly they want to do for music, second they smelled the scent of commercialism. no band has to change their concept in order to "grow". for some bands like dir en grey it may work, but generally a band should continue to stand for what they want to express.
@donttttt Cannot agree more. It really sucks when a kickass rock band that you listen for about 3 years suddenly becomes a bunch of lady-boy pussies. I'd never expect to say this, but.... Fuck Girugamesh! This band is oficially dead to me. They should adopt another name, at least -_-
what to think? the album has no trace of girugamesh. They've strayed and lost it only to fit in what's POPular. Sad because they were one of the few good bands out there.
After the first couple plays of the album I was pretty disappointed, the songs sounded similar and their was nothing that really grabbed my attention. The album does grow on you though and its not all as bad as I thought. I wonder where the band will head now, will they carry on with this new sound, or will they listen to the backlash and maybe take a step back? This album isn't bad, I enjoyed Destiny and Saikai most, but it doesn't compare to their previous work for me.
The album is enjoyable a friend of mine really like it in my case i don't like it but didn't hate it about people saying "more of old stuff' has a fan of Girugamesh my opinion they are growing up has band
This is how a review should be (for me). You explained your view on the album really nice and clear and I don't get this "hate" feeling I have while reading the shoutbox on last.fm.
I don't know what kind of music you normally listen to, but maybe you'll give NICO Touches the Walls or 8otto a listen (when they release their new stuff) :) I'd absolutely watch your reviews :)
I didn't like GO but i didn't hate it either. It was kind of a let down for sure but it's still an okay album. I liked Desitny and Mission Code the most. I didn't like the album because the songs all sound alike to me. They're not that original and there isn't that "wow vibe" i get when i hear Girugamesh's new single/album.
Nice reviews! I am not really into GO, when I heard it it failed to get my attention but I will give it a second try. I loved NOW and I was kind of disconected with their single releases so this new musical approach got me with my guard down.
You said you want to review something more mainstream on the GEMINI vide right? I don't know if it's on iTunes or aviable for download in any other service allready but I really would like to hear your thoughts on Loveless, More Loveless.
"There cannot be deep disappointment if there isn't deep love".
Girugamesh is a band I hold very close to my heart. Their old style was darker and, in my opinion, more visual, even like a cry from pain or anger sometimes.
Therefore, it was easy to relate to it. Even if you don't understand Japanese, it doesn't matter. They translated their words into their music.
Aimai na Mikaku is the perfect example for this. That song paints such a complex picture, even without words.
@TH3JROCKFAN I can't grow tired of listening to it,
for every time I do, it brings me other images.
On to GO again.
I must admit that at first I didn't like the album as a whole. Colour stood out to me, but other than that, I missed that signature dark sound.
Girugamesh has always been a band that liked techno influences, that's not my problem. Sometimes I just feel like a tiny bit of... let's say An Cafe slipped in which

is not a good match with this band.

@TH3JROCKFAN When I listened to GO more often, the songs grew on me. However, the "old" Girugamesh and "new" Girugamesh were very different to me.
Of course, we still had the amazing vocals and brilliant instrumental work, but the message was so different that it didn't speak to me at first.

@TH3JROCKFAN
I really like how you pointed out that the titles of the album and of the individual tracks could be part of a story, and adventure perhaps.
That's what I think this album is, an adventure. Some say it's more of an identity crisis, but I don't agree.
The more I listen to this album, the more I realise there's no such thing as old and new Girugamesh.
xxshekinahxx 1 year ago
@TH3JROCKFAN I still recognise the band, and I do understand that on a new album a band has to display progress, to show they have grown.
"More of the old stuff!!" is something a lot of fans are saying, but I don't necessarily agree with that.
Overall, I have grown to like this album. Not their best work, but the songs are enjoyable.
I'm very curious to see what they come up with next!
I hope this made some sense, English is not my first language x I'm not great at wording stuff =)

I love NOW ... GO lacks so much intensity and Metal in general, is more like rock :(
