I would deffinjitly consider buying one of these but in conparison to the early 1990's Cavalier its not much more economic. There saying its good for 25 city mpg and 37 highway but if you look back to the review in the 92 Cavalier there were sayin that was good for 25 city and 36 highway and that was 17 years before this and the Cavaliers shape was boxy. I didnt catch the sticker price for this Cobalt but you could get a Cavalier for as low as $8900 back then.
Do you realize that Most of these imports are paint by number "Assembly" plants meaning that the parts are made in Japan Korea Germany and only put together here? Many American part suppliers are locked out as you employ Japanese workers not to mention most of the money goes back to Japan Korea Germany how is that going to help the good ol USA?
Wow... I thought these people knew how to drive. I get a combined city/hwy 44.3 mpg U.S. out of my 08 Cobalt XFE. I do not consider myself a pro driver, but even I know not to drive a car meant for economy like it was a sports car.
My 2009 LT sedan gets around 40 MPG on the freeway. That's driving at constant 75 MPH for about 45 minutes. Before you tell a company that their car is an economy car from the last century and they need to improve. Improve how you drive first...
Not to mention Edmunds' has always been extremely biased towards foreign cars.
Local Chevy lot has one of these on sale for 11,700, and I'm REALLY tempted to trade in my beater in on it. Seems to be a great commuter car, and at that price, you can't hardly go wrong.

ya that's bull. I get 42mpg highway and like 32 city easy. Sounds like a pretty biased review to me. I am pretty impartial, as gas mileage was not the main reason I bought the car in the first place.
I am stuck with a GM car too and very happy with it. My last car was a Toyota after having it towed twice I guess its reliability was the big issue. My GM car gets 28-31 mpgs 105,000 miles and it has been a very nice car. The bad GM cars are no longer made in fact American quality is on the rise and Japanese has been falling in recent years according to statistics.
turd eh?....do yourself a favor inbred...and simply type in at google "most reliable cars"....don't be shocked when you see "honda accord" as the no.1 car.....tell your sister i said hi ;)
btw...i guess you have never heard of re-sale value?...thats something american car's do not have...you must be an american....fat, and think you know all about everything.
wow...you people need to read a lil bit...... i said off the line .....i never said anything about the part where it was 2 cars ahead of me by the time we got to the other side of the intersection.....you people are dense...... and if you had 2.2 s/c must be slow and ragged out if you cant punch a slowstang off the line...go read a book ya fuckin noob...
Last century? Ya right you can save $10,000 by buying this car. I would say that is more important in this century and you can give an American worker in Ohio a job. I think that trumps buying any import in this century.
10,000?....lol ok?...compared to what?...my 94 accord gets about the same figures as this turd does..and my car is fully loaded...instead of a bare bones crappy car like this ..oh did i mention i paid 4k for the car?...not w/e this turds msrp is? LOL
hey..i got one...and ill tell you what....damn thing is pretty peppy for for a 4 banger...no rev or speed limiter..... and belive it or not..it spanked a 05 cobra off the line..and i averange 32 to 37 on mpg..all around best 16k i ever psent...mods are to come soon....
lets be honest here. i drive a fully bolted and tuned 06 cobalt 2.2 and there is no way in HELL that you even got close to spanking a cobra off the line.
unless of course it was only running on 4 cylinders. but even then. no way.
That's the biggest crock of shit I've ever heard, 1st the rev limiter kicks in at 6700 RPM 200rpm after redline, and the speed limiter cuts it off at 115mph. And yeah I'm sure with that 8.5 0-60 you smoke cobras all the time.
The XFE is 155hp and mine and my brother's Cobalts, we both get over 29.5MPG avg inner city and highway and we do NOT have the XFE model. A 100% highway trip I get a little over 37mpg. The XFE should be getting better numbers especially since both our 07 Cobalts have automatics and this XFE is manual. Again, they never get specs right.
1. cover ur mouth with ur hands 2. make a wish into it 3. close ur hands into a fist 4. hold ur fist to ur heart for 5 sec 5. send dis to 3 more videos 6 .tomorrow will be ur best day eve
If you're living near Butler, PA, you should go by Mike Kelly Chevrolet Cadillac for a great deal on a 2009 Chevy Cobalt... I just went with my friend and we got a killer deal for just under $15k... Car dealerships are really starting to get desperate because they have some low, looooow prices! haha
I saw the XFE model advertised for $9995 today....the price of a Hyundai Accent. I think I would rather have the Cobalt. More car, more power and even better mileage on the highway.
You can get an XFE LT model that has power windows/locks/mirrors and keyless entry standard.
What they forgot to mention is that you get a Driver's Information Center, XM radio, automatic lighting and OnStar standard on the base $15,660 model while none of that is even available $19,975 Civic EX. Oh, and Chevy gives you a 5 year/100,000 mile warranty too.
I agree that ABS should be standard, but it's a $400 option that includes traction control.
the civic is a safer and slightly heaver car with better aerodyniamics. And also holds better rep for reliability and much higher resale value. I am tired of saying this (nothing related to you or not intending to bash on your comment). But its true. The civic is a better run for the money and is actually cheaper owning over time with low cost maintenance. Not intending to sound like a poster boy. But its true. Cobalt needs a new gen. Its kinda dated now.
How is maintenance cheaper on the Honda? The Cobalt needs nothing but oil, oil filters and air filters in 100,000 miles. The Cobalt also gives you an oil life monitor that tells you when you need to change your oil so you can go longer on changes saving money and resources.
The Civic does hold it's value much better, but that's because of a perception gap. Some of the materials used in the Cobalt are horrible, but they are reliable.
As for safety, both cars are rated 'Good' by the IIHS for frontal impacts but the Civic barely beats the Cobalt in side impact testing as both recorded possible injury for the driver during a side impact. In the real word I wouldn't feel safer in either car over the other.
Wrong. Ive looked at the test results. The cobalt gets 4. Not bad but doesn't surpass the civic in side impact. They also designed the civic to be less harsh on pedestrians for frontal impacts. Notice the front slope in the car.
Are you speaking of the NHTSA results? The old school NHTSA tests are useless. The offset and side impact tests the IIHS uses are much closer to reality, but no test is really usable to measure real life performance.
Pedestrian safety? You can't tell how well a car performs bu just looking at the exterior design. We don't test this in America so who knows, and honestly, who cares.
Honda its self tested it for pedestrain safety. Although i think this is important for the NHTSA to start dooing tests like this. They sadly do not. Basically honda threw in something as an extra that others didnt even think of. They really do care about the people driving them. You also need to hit the reply buttion so i know.
The only reason the Civic might have a better pedestrian safety rating (who knows if it does since the Cobalt hasn't been tested) is because they sell the Civic Hybrid sedan in Europe where EuroNCAP actually test it. Honda wouldn't throw in a happy bonus feature just to be considerate if it weren't required somewhere. Engineering pedestrian safety costs money.
I did hit reply, that's why it's in the indented column.
I looked at the european civic. I thought they looked really good at first. But the designers over in Europe did a horrible layout of the car. The engine is excellent do doubt but the suspension and interior wasn't as good of quality as of what you'd find over here.
Was he trying to crash in that slalom test?. . Sheesh, that's all Edmunds do is just bash American cars, I don't think they even try to give a fair review anymore. . .
Fuck your shit civic si you should be proud if your si beatin a cobalt xfe that has no sport to it and it is made to save gas and dont get me started on the 2009 cobalt ss which will destroy your car.
yeah u are wrong my cousins have both the cobalt ss and a civic si both stock with manufacturing preformance packages and the cobalt has won each time and not by a little but really put a spankin on the civic which sucks fro me since i like imports
for one dumb ass its not a import and chevy cobalt has more hp then civic corolla and all the other shit cars.. this maybe one of the weak cobalts but thats why i went turbo ss and still get over 30mpg
The Cobalt seems to do everything fine, but those low-resistance tires seem to be more trouble than the the extra 1-2 reduction in fuel consumption they bring. That 60-0 stopping distance is horrendous (that's with ABS)! An Aveo without ABS has a better stopping distance. Buying the Cobalt 2LT (w/regular 16 inch tires) would be a safer bet. Even though it costs more than the LSXFE, it would still be within the price range of its import competitor's base models.
I think cars without ABS stop quicker because brake lock will bring about the greater tire friction with the road. I've been disappointed with ABS-equipped cars over the years. My 1986 Volvo had better brakes and stopped faster than my father's Grand Cherokee with ABS.
When it comes to stopping a vehicle, friction is something that needs to be at a minimum. ABS reduces the amount of friction by rapidly unlocking the wheels to reassert traction. If the Cherokee had no ABS, the stopping distance would be longer. Likewise, if the Volvo had ABS the stopping distance would be shorter.
truthfully, this isn't a bad car for the money. You're not going to pay anywhere near sticker, and as the saying goes, you get what you paid for.
It's not as good as a Civic, Corolla, or a Jetta, but it's a halfway decent car for people who just want basic transprotation.
I used to sell them, and most of my customers had no major problems, that said most of my customers were middle aged. Young people really weren't into the plainer Cobalts, and they're the people you have to target
Why am I not surprised that it only got 25 mpg in real-world mixed driving...there are so many better cars you can get for less, if not equal, money...even domestics...
I feel sorry for you , you dont even know that civic being a foreign car is assembled in Canada , only difference is my 1992 civic has 322000 kms on it and my friends cobalt blew its starter at 30000 kms
I know all about where the cars come from. The coupe is built in Ohio. Hell, lots of the parts are sourced from North America. I'm just smart enough to know that the country a which a corporation is based is where the profits end up.
You might also want to learn about the ways the Japanese government protects it's global corporations to keep themselves profitable so the tax dollars (Yen) keep rolling in.
at the same time their government is pretty harsh on them as well. Engines smog and emission standards (still bullshit to me) are incredibly tough over there. In the higher end engines for sports versions even. They had to be creative to find a system in the motor to crank out more power without a supercharger causing a higher % of tax or something like this. That is were V-tec came in. Or VVT. You have to give honda credit for that technology as they were technically the first to pioneer it.
The Japanese government is much less strict on emissions than the EPA. They tax on engine displacement and rely on turbos to make up for it. VTEC is simply a variable timing system, a system that goes back to steam locomotives in the 19th century. An Italian designed the automotive application in the '60s and GM patented a version of VVT in 1975. Honda first used it on a 400cc. motorcycle engine in 1983 and started using VTEC in JDM cars in 1988.
Very interesting. But to me Vtec still seems a little different in the layout . Especially I-Vec. The form of technology has rapidly improved over the years. Mine is a 1.6 (non vtec) and gets supposedly 35 mpg highway which it doesnt. and i think has either a little under 100hp or a little over (to lazy to look it up) and now they have a 1.8 with I-Vtec cranks out 140hp.
This IS a very good car, IF you get the optional ABS brakes. They are a real lifesaver, they certainly saved my life when a car came out of a side street right in front of me!!!
I think the test driver didn't use the right technique in the quarter mile. A car 2800 lbs. car with 155 hp shouldn't chirp the wheels in second gear. Car&Driver's tested the same car (with the same trim level, features, body style, etc.) and recorded the quarter a full second ahead of this one.
You guys love to agree on bullshit, don't you? Keep spouting the same ol' shit while your fellow countrymen get flushed down the toilet and the government takes over private industry.
Who cares, cobalts are PURE trash, cheaply built, shitty cheapo suspension which isnt even independant in the rear. The interior is gastly, and the car just looks cheasy. What I find odd about this review is that they claim it is even in the same league as the civic hybrid, its not even close Edmunds them selves got over 40mpg in mixed driving, let alone being much better built, WAY better interior.
Actually, the Cobalt employs high-strength steel in its Delta chassis; MacPherson struts are used in the front suspension, and the rear has a semi-independent torsion beam. The New York Times says the suspension is "better than most cars in this class," and the car has been given great reviews by a variety of news outlets (Edmunds, US News, etc.).
The torsion bar is cheap, its the same when chevrolet desided to shorten the piston skirts in their 3000 series engines and ended up with an engine that didnt last for shit, because the cylinders went out of round quickly, and you litterally had a piston battering around in the cylinder. I mean if you boys want to compare your best to the civics best, go on, go against the mugen rr which is anything but a watered down si.
slow down there champ first off as far comparing civic to chevy i like civic but in reality cobalt has way more balls and much quicker on take off if you look in motor trend march i think the cobalt put the civic, impreza wrx, gti, mazdaspeed three, all to shame in every aspect of a touring race and off the line and braking the mini was the only one in one part of the race to beat the cobalt and one more thing between all the cars civic came in last place check fro your self
That's just terrific, but really...who the Hell is buying any of the aforementioned cars to participate in races? I actually like the Cobalt...shows that GM is at least thinking a little about selling cars consumers want to buy. One big problem though as I see it...in 4 years this Cobalt's resale value will be nothing...just like their predecesser the Cavalier. That's assuming GM is still around. Civic has this car dominated in resale, reliability,quality...just about everything else.
Well, all cheap basic cars have terrible resale values. Most people with these cars have them because they're cheap, and are planning to put a lot of miles on them.
I bought an 08 Cobalt LT, way nicer then this, Power windows, locks, mirrors, Keyless entry, cruise, ABS, traction control etc.. it is not XFE, but is still rated at 22 city and 31 HWY... however i get mixed 28 MPG Driving, and around 40 on the hwy. So i would buy this car again.... THe LT is more pricerier, but its worth it.
Wow that's the worst braking i've ever seen, my 1976 chevy el camino has a V8 weighs 4500 pounds and it out accelerates, out brakes and does 25MPG freeway
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Wow that is one shitty car. Who wouldn't get antilock brakes? Some comments are complaining about styling. IMO if my car was that shitty I would want it to blend in. If I wanted one of the shitty GM cars I'd get the Astra, although its a little more money.
Hey guys, i worked for a company which requires a lot of driving, and these are the cars we get, i personally drives these cars for the days that i worked. in my opinion i wouldn't
buy of these! i feel like a person with no style in this car lolz. i prefer my S2000 and MDX
I bought a 2008 xfe cobalt lt coupe 5 months ago.. The car rocks in the gas mileage ... And so does the xm radio... COOL CAR .... RED with a rear spoiler..
a 2009 Honda Civic LX with an automatic transmission also gets 25/36 city/highway ratings for fuel economy. The cobalt is cheaper, but the Civic is well worth it

Hard to believe a 2009 car not having power locks, power windows, and even with ABS that braking distance is awful for a small car. I'd rather get a used Corolla.
The car you drive is most certainly not representitive of how much money you have. For example, I know of a local building contractor who drives a Bentley. I also know of a professor who has over three million dollars in assets, yet lives in a small run down house and drives a 15 year old Audi. You really, truly cannot judge a person's assets based on their car.
yeah and i know 1 billion people who drive a car that is within their economic bracket. you can give me as much anecdotal evidence as you want, but i will always be right.
Well, since your comment has about -5 points, I would say that much more people agree with me than agree with you. The only acception in our country may be Beverly Hills or Los Angeles or something like that, where there is a history of "showing your money." You cannot ignore your <-5 review. Obviously you have a skewed viewpoint.
the only 'exception' to your lame duck riposte is that you have no concept of reality and you have the gall to base the veracity of your comments by the number of thumbs you get from 'youtubers'. you sir, are a mental midget.
A mental midget? Boy, that sure makes you sound smart. I am sure you could have found a better descriptor than that. And, yes! I would determine the infallibility of your comment by the general reactions of the people reading it! In reality, though, it is your original comment that makes you sound ignorant. Clearly, CLEARLY, people do not always buy cars that are in their budget, or at the tip of their budjet. Ever heard of a bank reposessing a car? Or a person inheriting millions in stocks?
im certainly not going to try to reason with a mental midget like you. i would have a better time talking to an empty cardboard box. let it be known there's not an iota of truth in your ramblings, and you possess not a drop of common sense. be gone, retardo.
What the hell are you, like five? It is pretty clear that you used the thesaurus for that last comment, as this makess no sense. "I posses not a drop of common sense." You clearly do not speak English very well, either! It is clearly the consensous of all here that you are the one who 'posses not a drop of common sense.' You are the most arrogant person I have ever come across here!
i like how they don't mention the Focus...with it's Sync, amazing safety, power windows, locks, and abs standard...for 20,000...still a steal over this.
If I have properly deciphered that, what you are saying still makes absolutley no sense. He says, "Direct competitors like the Ford Focus and Honda Civic." I do not know what video you are watching, nor do I know what car you are looking at. The Focus, according to Car and Driver, is at the bottom of the pack.
true...but the focus is not near a competitor for a stripped down Colbalt...the base focus gets a great 35 mpg and can easily reach 41 mpg if cared for...for the colbalt and all that it lacks...its not worth it
JUNK!!!! STOP COMPARING THIS TO A HYBRID. I CAN GET AN ECONOMY CAR WITH MORE FEATURES THAT THIS CHEESY COBALT NO POWER OPTIONS WTF. TERRIBLE HANDLING NO THANKS.. GM CAN'T BUILD CARS WITH SHIT ANYMORE.

My GM car gets 28-31 mpgs 105,000 miles and it has been a very nice car. The bad GM cars are no longer made in fact American quality is on the rise and Japanese has been falling in recent years according to statistics.

Last century? Ya right you can save $10,000 by buying this car. I would say that is more important in this century and you can give an American worker in Ohio a job. I think that trumps buying any import in this century.

Do they "ever" get the MPG or specs right?
The XFE is 155hp and mine and my brother's Cobalts, we both get over 29.5MPG avg inner city and highway and we do NOT have the XFE model. A 100% highway trip I get a little over 37mpg. The XFE should be getting better numbers especially since both our 07 Cobalts have automatics and this XFE is manual. Again, they never get specs right.

If you're living near Butler, PA, you should go by Mike Kelly Chevrolet Cadillac for a great deal on a 2009 Chevy Cobalt... I just went with my friend and we got a killer deal for just under $15k... Car dealerships are really starting to get desperate because they have some low, looooow prices! haha
autofusion333 2 years ago
You call that a great deal? lol This car is selling for $12250 on the road here in Canada.
porksniffer 2 years ago
I saw the XFE model advertised for $9995 today....the price of a Hyundai Accent. I think I would rather have the Cobalt. More car, more power and even better mileage on the highway.
Sean1086 2 years ago
You can get an XFE LT model that has power windows/locks/mirrors and keyless entry standard.
What they forgot to mention is that you get a Driver's Information Center, XM radio, automatic lighting and OnStar standard on the base $15,660 model while none of that is even available $19,975 Civic EX. Oh, and Chevy gives you a 5 year/100,000 mile warranty too.
I agree that ABS should be standard, but it's a $400 option that includes traction control.
F41Driver 2 years ago 5
the civic is a safer and slightly heaver car with better aerodyniamics.
EpiDemic117 2 years ago
How is maintenance cheaper on the Honda? The Cobalt needs nothing but oil, oil filters and air filters in 100,000 miles. The Cobalt also gives you an oil life monitor that tells you when you need to change your oil so you can go longer on changes saving money and resources.
The Civic does hold it's value much better, but that's because of a perception gap. Some of the materials used in the Cobalt are horrible, but they are reliable.
F41Driver 2 years ago
As for safety, both cars are rated 'Good' by the IIHS for frontal impacts but the Civic barely beats the Cobalt in side impact testing as both recorded possible injury for the driver during a side impact. In the real word I wouldn't feel safer in either car over the other.
F41Driver 2 years ago
Wrong. Ive looked at the test results. The cobalt gets 4. Not bad but doesn't surpass the civic in side impact. They also designed the civic to be less harsh on pedestrians for frontal impacts. Notice the front slope in the car.
EpiDemic117 2 years ago
Are you speaking of the NHTSA results? The old school NHTSA tests are useless. The offset and side impact tests the IIHS uses are much closer to reality, but no test is really usable to measure real life performance.
Pedestrian safety? You can't tell how well a car performs bu just looking at the exterior design. We don't test this in America so who knows, and honestly, who cares.
F41Driver 2 years ago
Honda its self tested it for pedestrain safety. Although i think this is important for the NHTSA to start dooing tests like this. They sadly do not. Basically honda threw in something as an extra that others didnt even think of. They really do care about the people driving them. You also need to hit the reply buttion so i know.
EpiDemic117 2 years ago
The only reason the Civic might have a better pedestrian safety rating (who knows if it does since the Cobalt hasn't been tested) is because they sell the Civic Hybrid sedan in Europe where EuroNCAP actually test it. Honda wouldn't throw in a happy bonus feature just to be considerate if it weren't required somewhere. Engineering pedestrian safety costs money.
I did hit reply, that's why it's in the indented column.
F41Driver 2 years ago
I looked at the european civic. I thought they looked really good at first. But the designers over in Europe did a horrible layout of the car. The engine is excellent do doubt but the suspension and interior wasn't as good of quality as of what you'd find over here.
EpiDemic117 2 years ago

for one dumb ass its not a import and chevy cobalt has more hp then civic corolla and all the other shit cars.. this maybe one of the weak cobalts but thats why i went turbo ss and still get over 30mpg
jannelli2686 3 years ago
The Cobalt seems to do everything fine, but those low-resistance tires seem to be more trouble than the the extra 1-2 reduction in fuel consumption they bring. That 60-0 stopping distance is horrendous (that's with ABS)! An Aveo without ABS has a better stopping distance. Buying the Cobalt 2LT (w/regular 16 inch tires) would be a safer bet. Even though it costs more than the LSXFE, it would still be within the price range of its import competitor's base models.
redgoldbluephantom 3 years ago
I think cars without ABS stop quicker because brake lock will bring about the greater tire friction with the road. I've been disappointed with ABS-equipped cars over the years. My 1986 Volvo had better brakes and stopped faster than my father's Grand Cherokee with ABS.
Luzern76 3 years ago
When it comes to stopping a vehicle, friction is something that needs to be at a minimum. ABS reduces the amount of friction by rapidly unlocking the wheels to reassert traction. If the Cherokee had no ABS, the stopping distance would be longer. Likewise, if the Volvo had ABS the stopping distance would be shorter.
redgoldbluephantom 3 years ago
ABS suck i get off my ABS on my car i hate that
estidecrissdemarde 3 years ago
truthfully, this isn't a bad car for the money.
Young people really weren't into the plainer Cobalts, and they're the people you have to target

vicsaggu 2 years ago
I know all about where the cars come from. The coupe is built in Ohio. Hell, lots of the parts are sourced from North America. I'm just smart enough to know that the country a which a corporation is based is where the profits end up.
You might also want to learn about the ways the Japanese government protects it's global corporations to keep themselves profitable so the tax dollars (Yen) keep rolling in.
F41Driver 2 years ago
at the same time their government is pretty harsh on them as well.
EpiDemic117 2 years ago
The Japanese government is much less strict on emissions than the EPA. They tax on engine displacement and rely on turbos to make up for it. VTEC is simply a variable timing system, a system that goes back to steam locomotives in the 19th century. An Italian designed the automotive application in the '60s and GM patented a version of VVT in 1975. Honda first used it on a 400cc. motorcycle engine in 1983 and started using VTEC in JDM cars in 1988.
F41Driver 2 years ago
Very interesting. But to me Vtec still seems a little different in the layout . Especially I-Vec. The form of technology has rapidly improved over the years. Mine is a 1.6 (non vtec) and gets supposedly 35 mpg highway which it doesnt. and i think has either a little under 100hp or a little over (to lazy to look it up) and now they have a 1.8 with I-Vtec cranks out 140hp.
EpiDemic117 2 years ago
This IS a very good car, IF you get the optional ABS brakes. They are a real lifesaver, they certainly saved my life when a car came out of a side street right in front of me!!!
spritz0 3 years ago
I think the test driver didn't use the right technique in the quarter mile. A car 2800 lbs. car with 155 hp shouldn't chirp the wheels in second gear. Car&Driver's tested the same car (with the same trim level, features, body style, etc.) and recorded the quarter a full second ahead of this one.

blockdotjn 3 years ago
Who cares, cobalts are PURE trash, cheaply built, shitty cheapo suspension which isnt even independant in the rear. The interior is gastly, and the car just looks cheasy. What I find odd about this review is that they claim it is even in the same league as the civic hybrid, its not even close Edmunds them selves got over 40mpg in mixed driving, let alone being much better built, WAY better interior.
Mikew995 3 years ago
Actually, the Cobalt employs high-strength steel in its Delta chassis; MacPherson struts are used in the front suspension, and the rear has a semi-independent torsion beam. The New York Times says the suspension is "better than most cars in this class," and the car has been given great reviews by a variety of news outlets (Edmunds, US News, etc.).
blockdotjn 3 years ago 2
The torsion bar is cheap, its the same when chevrolet desided to shorten the piston skirts in their 3000 series engines and ended up with an engine that didnt last for shit, because the cylinders went out of round quickly, and you litterally had a piston battering around in the cylinder. I mean if you boys want to compare your best to the civics best, go on, go against the mugen rr which is anything but a watered down si.
Mikew995 3 years ago
slow down there champ first off as far comparing civic to chevy i like civic but in reality cobalt has way more balls and much quicker on take off if you look in motor trend march i think the cobalt put the civic, impreza wrx, gti, mazdaspeed three, all to shame in every aspect of a touring race and off the line and braking the mini was the only one in one part of the race to beat the cobalt and one more thing between all the cars civic came in last place check fro your self
TINYSSHOP 2 years ago
That's just terrific, but really...who the Hell is buying any of the aforementioned cars to participate in races? I actually like the Cobalt...shows that GM is at least thinking a little about selling cars consumers want to buy. One big problem though as I see it...in 4 years this Cobalt's resale value will be nothing...just like their predecesser the Cavalier. That's assuming GM is still around. Civic has this car dominated in resale, reliability,quality...just about everything else.
74VDC 2 years ago
Well, all cheap basic cars have terrible resale values. Most people with these cars have them because they're cheap, and are planning to put a lot of miles on them.

The car you drive is most certainly not representitive of how much money you have. For example, I know of a local building contractor who drives a Bentley. I also know of a professor who has over three million dollars in assets, yet lives in a small run down house and drives a 15 year old Audi. You really, truly cannot judge a person's assets based on their car.
bg1379 3 years ago
yeah and i know 1 billion people who drive a car that is within their economic bracket. you can give me as much anecdotal evidence as you want, but i will always be right.
ironchopsticks 3 years ago
Well, since your comment has about -5 points, I would say that much more people agree with me than agree with you. The only acception in our country may be Beverly Hills or Los Angeles or something like that, where there is a history of "showing your money." You cannot ignore your <-5 review. Obviously you have a skewed viewpoint.

ironchopsticks 3 years ago
A mental midget? Boy, that sure makes you sound smart. I am sure you could have found a better descriptor than that. And, yes! I would determine the infallibility of your comment by the general reactions of the people reading it! In reality, though, it is your original comment that makes you sound ignorant. Clearly, CLEARLY, people do not always buy cars that are in their budget, or at the tip of their budjet. Ever heard of a bank reposessing a car? Or a person inheriting millions in stocks?
bg1379 3 years ago
im certainly not going to try to reason with a mental midget like you. i would have a better time talking to an empty cardboard box. let it be known there's not an iota of truth in your ramblings, and you possess not a drop of common sense. be gone, retardo.
