salvia is a plant that grows from the ground, you need nothing to grow it.

Salvia D. is actually believed to be domesticated, making it only tens of thousands of years old. Hoffman did popularize it though. He was the first to isolate salvinorin a, the active chemical. However, when you buy salvia its not actually made by a recipe. You might be thinking of extraction. When you buy 40x salvia, that means all the salvinorin a has been taken out of 40 big leaves, and put onto a gram of salvia leaves. And, its not legal everywhere, its been illegal in my state for 2 years.

Actually scientists and botanists have been debating on its origin.. it is not known. Earliest record of its use was by the Mayans for a medicine to cure a number of minor problems.

It was first taken from south american regions in the 1930's by Jean Basset Johnson..

It wasnt made popular until the 1990's when an american study put out its psychoactive properties.

Hoffman didnt have much or really anything to do with the popularity or use of Salvia.

It was Hoffman who researched it much more conclusively, ie isolating its active chemical. 40x would mean that, let say a gram, is 40 times stronger than normal. They take 40 grams, not leaves, and put the salivnorin a into 1 gram. Otherwise 40x could be potentially as powerful as 50x, or as weak as 30x.

Theres actually no rule to it. I'm sure some "40x" salvia is ten times stronger then others. Even legitimate ones do it different ways. Some do 40 grams, some do 40 leaves (they actually come out to be about the same in that case.)

Yes, Hofmann's first trip is basically a spiritual hero's journey. He ended up taking 250 ug, thinking it was a very small dose. And ended up having a very bad trip, which is totally understandable. If someone has a bad trip today, they can at least be comforted by the knowledge that it wont kill them, or last for ever, Hofmann didn't even have that. Hours into his trip, he decided to stop fighting it, and calm down, and he ended up having a spiritual breakthrough.

In the 60s, one hit of acid supposedly equaled about 250 ug, but today the average content of a hit is much lower. A typical hit of blotter will contain about 50 ug, which in terms of acid is a low dose, which is why so many people will take multiple hits. Sugar cubes, gell tabs, etc, tend to have more acid, about 100 ug. if you have good connections you can get liquid lsd, which is generally more than 250 ug per drop. My dealer gets liquid and will put how ever much I want on a sugar cube.

The last acid I did was Albert Hofmann memorial acid at last year Gathering. There was definitely a a connection between LSD and all the great music of the 60s and early 70s. Rest in peace Dr. Hofmann, you were a true pioneer.

Yeah, seriously, dosing the world would be very beneficial. In the 60s the government would give LSD to soldiers and most of them ended up leaving the military. If you gave leaders LSD, they wouldn't want to go to war. Leary also gave LSD to people who just got out of prison, and they never went back. Alcoholics would take LSD and never drink again. Its literally the perfect drug.
