was the bomb. 31 million light years away, means what we are seeing happened 31 million years ago. might not be there now.

If a star 31million light years away explodes right now, it will look to us as if nothing happend untill 31million years down the track.

Then we will see it.

@wharbio a lightyear isnt equal to one earth year dude. its equal to 1trillion years. but lightyears is a measure of distance so how would that make sense?

@hotdogs9and9milk a light year is the distance that a light beam passes across in the time span of 1 earth year, which is equal to (9460730472.58 km), the dude was talking right, if this supernova happened 31 million light years away, that means it took the light 31 million year to reach us, which means, it actually happened 31 million years in the past.
