  • i found him on the billboard chart back in 1957 n' luv him cuz of his stunnin' voice XD ! .

  • What a velvet voice. This was my moms favorite male singer. He's black and he's gay. SO WHAT!! People always seem to want to try to bring someone down because of their own inferiority complex. Why can't we just accept people for who they are, and love the gifts that they share with us? Great voice, Johnny. Thanks for the memories of my dear departed mom, smiling and playing your music on her old phonograph player.

  • lindo de viver, curtir curtir suas músicas!

  • @noalittleaboutlot but i never said nothing offensive about him or his music i just said hes gay that's it another thing is that people find the word gay offensive when it's not even the case I'm just saying people need to fix their definition of words if they don't know but you could say gay people hi jacket the word from happy but still i wasn't trying to offend ok

  • that high aahhhhhhhhhhn my own is crazy..I've never heard a person's voice ever do anything like that.

  • this song puts a smile on my face. i always imagine a couple dancing and looking at each other's eyes while this song is being played...

  • My darling departed first husband fell even more in love every time we heard Johnny mathis.

  • it is always great to smile and this songs does just that...thanks johnny

  • can't help but listen to this song over and over and over..

  • hes gayyyy ;3

  • @rudycorona1 tarado escucha la esencia, y no critiques lo que no te consta, esto es musica.................

  • @rudycorona1 Yeah, not a secret. Most people knew he was. That doesn't negate the fact that this man had one of the most beautiful voices ever.

  • When I hear this song I think of the movie "Play Misty For Me",with Clint Eastwood (with Polly Bergen (?). Wonderful Johnnie as usual. Thank you.

  • No gadgets, no techno lighting, no fancy camera shots, no dancers, no audience shouting whoo whoo!

Just Mr Mathis singing...because that's all that is needed !!

  • This is definitely in my top 5 favorite songs. This mans voice evokes an emotional response. If it doesn't, y'all need to check your pulse.

  • I just watched an episode of goodtimes and keith jus sung it!!!!! Love it

  • I had to play this for my 8th grade jazz band. Almost the entire song was just me playing with the band backing me up. I didn't realize how much I liked this song, or the times I performed it, until I saw this again.

  • I had tears in my eyes listening to this.

I'm 37 but remember when I was a little kid , listening to this on my mums massive 2 speakers vinyl sideboard player.

    Loved it :)

  • he's black and will always be black. i don't think he cares either which way. Nor do I he can sing for me anytime.

  • I don't care what color he is. His music moves me greatly and fills me with emotion.

  • Hermosa la voz d este hombre tantas melodias bellas que tiene, pero esa voz woooooow hermosa de oirla

  • Crazy GREAT!!!!

  • É tanta névoa que eu não vejo cor nenhuma!

  • I saw him at the Coconut Grove in Hollywood in 1960. Brings back high school memories!

  • No effort, just pure Johnny Mathis, legend, classic, beautiful !

  • the best!!!!!! beatifull voice!!!!!

  • I saw him, here in Philly,@ The opening season of The Kimmel Center. There was a row of women ,with big hair, swaying side to side, in front of me. I tapped one on the shoulder, when the show was over, and told them I enjoyed watching them enjoying Johnny,. They told me they never miss a show. That was my first time experencing him. Loved him since my childhood.

  • timeless! the voice itself gives me goosebumps

  • I love the song but I keep looking over my shoulder for Jessica Walter...!

  • @pastrami1945: lol yes I agree with you

  • I grew up listening to Johnny. Every time I hear him sing Misty I think of my life-he will always be my favorite male singer.

  • in my opinion, the greatest male vocalist ever......:)

  • As a kid growing up I loved the song and the memories of this song is deeply imbedded in my heart and mind. So thought provoking, the mellow and soothing sounds of the violins and clarinet and of course Mr. Mathis blessed with such a tranquil voice. May I soon be blessed to see him in concert with my wife.

  • Smooth

  • play misty for me

  • The most beautiful man and voice in the world

  • This is the kind of music that that are in romantic comedies today, project that fifty years down the road and the movies will have rap????? I don't think so.

  • Love you Johnny, yesterday, today and forever. I loved you when I met you in 1959 at the Copa when I was 14 and you still transport me to another world. Thank you Johnny and thank you for posting.

  • Johnny and Misty....born and written to stay together !! Only Johnny sings this song that way...incomparable !!!

  • I guess after reading so many posts on this sight we have gotten away from the greatness of this individual and the many, many memories his songs bring back. Trashing someone else's comment here doesn't dignify this individual. Listen to his music and think about the many loves you had when he was signing them for your pleasure. I saw him live only once, and I couldn't believe the greatness in his performance.

  • asian american sing misty more please take a look

  • the perfect serenade

  • All human beings are beautiful because God made us to His perfection. We have only one race, human! And this site is not about anything but a sensational man,Johnny Mathis, who has been gifted to sing with the most wonderful voice in this world! And thanks to the generosity of the member who shared this with us! That's it.

  • I am glad you did nit have the opportunity to make a statement like that to Mr. Mathis, I understand the cultural implications.... but I know that if you had, Mr. Mathis would have handled your comment with grace and dignity that is a benchmark of his beauty. He is beautiful, inside and out. The color of his skin has nothing to do with the timeless joy and gracious gentility that is him. he has talent that is immeasurable , a gift that he has shared with the world unselfishly God Bless

  • What a beautiful gift this man gave to us. We are sooo lucky to have his gift from him!!!!!!!

  • im only 17 and really love this song and Johnny Mathis :)) love u mom !

  • Makes me think of my daddy. He used to like johnny Mathis.

  • Too bad he's black??? My Lord, would he have the same beautiful voice if he wasn't? Who are you to make that kind of statetmen? He was a beautiful person, skin, voice, style, Etc!!!!

  • @OkieDokie306 OMG, someone actually said that? He was in the class - and I do mean CLASS - of the great Nat King Cole! This is such a soothing song which is forever a gift to listen to!

  • Hm, very reminiscent of the Bee Gees.

  • The voice of an angel...pure magic.

  • In memory of my beautiful Grandmama Julia, this was her favorite song. My husband and I danced to this for our first dance as a married couple at our wedding. I love and miss you so much Mom. I will see you again one day, guaranteed.

  • No its a shame you think the way you do.

  • If black is beautiful why is it bad to call a person blackfellow and why did jackson try to bleach his skin white.

  • @stutzbulldog WHO IN THE HELL SAYS 'BLACKFELLOW' ? I HAVEN'T HEARD THAT SINCE 1961 WHEN THE JIM CROW LAWS WERE TAKEN DOWN , OMG YOU ARE NOT FUNNY AND WITTY AT ALL

  • Its a shame hes black

  • @stutzbulldog wow, you got a lot of croakies....black is beautiful....the blacker the better

  • @stutzbulldog Its a shame people still think the way you do!

  • @stutzbulldog Well Jackson was mentally disabled...so that explains him bleaching his skin

why do millions of whites tan their skin?

  • @stutzbulldog You have a real problem.

  • Johnny Mathis --- One of the Great Immortal Voices. His music, just like that of Nat Cole, Sam Cooke, Frank Sinatra, Brook Benton... would forever live on.

  • little paws...

  • The best jazz/pop balladeers and crooners are black.

Nat king cole, Johnny Mathis,Johnny Hartman,Billy Eckstein , Mills Brothers,Joe Williams, louis armstrong, etc etc

  • mabee if u grew up back in the day you would be no i mean such n assole

  • Who cares what color this great man is. God sent him to us to delight us with that fantastic voice of his and insert some romance into human lives that sometimes are nothing but a foolish rush into nowhere. God Bless Johnny.

  • @VIRIATO1942 color ? what color ? he's transparent!

  • Love the song...love Johnny Mathis! The quality of his voice is super!

  • His voice is a love vibration, personified.

  • Beautiful! Thanks for posting.

  • i love it!

  • My wife sings this to me in the morning. It always wakes me up... because she's a TERRIBLE singer!

  • I just recorded this song, a cappelle, come take a look

  • ok, he is brown so what's his story? black, latin, what else?

  • @macheteromoreno I'm not sure the reason for this comment, but if you know his history you know "his story". He is a beautifully gifted gentleman who has for all intensive purposes shared his gift with the world better than 60 years, and is still paying it forward. I saw him april1, 2011 and he was wonderful. Just as he was when I saw him 20 and 30 yrs ago. Beauty like that comes from the heart...and he has a giving, gentle, nature.unassuming nature. God Bless you Johnny, and thank you

  • Superbe chansons

  • love the song very much...much more when it become the background music in the movie PLAY MISTY FOR ME.ah will never forget the nude shower scene of a very young CLINT EASTWOOD with the song is played....

  • Johnny Mathis não se discute, se ouve ! Sua voz é divina !! Poucos no mundo chegam no mesmo patamar.

  • Comment removed

  • I made my comment without the use of offensive language and I showed no disrespect. I know Mr. Mathis and he more than cares what his fan base thinks. You have every right to voice an opinion but there is no need to be rude to a perfect stranger. Of all comments I have read this is one of the most unnecessary and immature. Never call me a "poor Baby"You do not know me. I did not slam you...what you said reflects on you. I hope you have made a contribution to the world of some worth..

  • I generally don't respond at random to comments. Today for some reason I am. To the mention of the 23 dislikes....to each his own. I could not count the many different venues and times in the last 60 plus years that Johnny has sung this his signature song. Each time is more beautiful than the last. Secondly, I don't understand the need to allude to someone's private life choices....irregardless of what they are. It hurts me to read it. How must it hurt the person. ....Think please.

  • @Heart2Heart76 oh you poor baby. don't take it so hard. I don't think Johnny gives a rats ass what we think of his singing.

  • johnny was SEXXXXXXY i dont know his past but do know hes gay..i bet some old queens can tell u some stories haha love u mr.mathis

  • @RomanRoyale

Totally unnesserary comment. Have some class man.

  • Someone does not like this voice? Twenty three people? Something is wrong here.

  • In the 1960's I listened to Baffalo

springfield and Johnny Manthis. In the 70's I listened to Led Zeplin and Johnny Manthis and on and on to this day. This guy is was fantastic.

  • so beautiful - this man can sing - gives me chills

  • @celtica99 I Love this song! I always listened to the vinyl record from my aunt...now I see the man Himself...I have goose-bumps!!! Great !! I agree with you!! Love xxxx

  • Beautiful :)

  • toute ses chansons

  • He makes this look effortless!

  • OMG! Johnny Mathis in the1960's and for decades and decades afterwards was THE singer of love ballads! Sinatra was absolutely fantastic, but the "mellow soft romantic" sound of Mathis was unique! Johnny is still the one of a kind performer of love ballads!

"Misty" is one of his greatest songs!

  • Can't believe people used the comment board of this song to discuss racial tenseness... terrible

  • beautiful wow feels like he is singing to me amazing

  • To the 23 people who don't care for this, CAN U SING BETTER ? I think not.

  • WOW ! best male singer EVER !

  • See the thing about music these days, is that it sold its soul.

  • You don 't have to be "stoned" to listen to the beautiful music of Johnny Mathis...He should make you "high" just listening to him....

  • 4fourdogs You mention your grandson. My oldest is 17 and he has been singing /listening to Johnny since he was born!! I can still remember him singing Christmas "tapes" etc.....we would try to out sing the other. To this day if we are out and Johnny comes over the music system he will nudge me and say "do you hear him Nana"? Still tickles me! Thank you for bringing that memory back. Sweet!!!!!

  • Wundenbach, musik sehr gut. HerrBezerra

  • Johnny Mathis is truly the best singer, I have been listening to his songs since I was at a very young age and enjoy it everytime. He has this special magic voice that is perfect for love songs. It make me feel this world is much lovelier and beautiful than it is actually. Thank you so much for posting his songs.

  • Música boa quando estou na fossa

  • I went to see Jonny Mathis in the seventies he sang a song called 99 miles to LA you could have heard a pin drop he was so good to bad my 21 yr old granson has never heard of him

  • @SesauuHannaea586 no twe entiendo

  • Wonderful song and version by Johnny's magical voice! And to think it had taken so many many years for this song to grow on me, before i began to like it! Now I absolutely adore it !

  • six foot.....What is also true...these things he sings...when the love of our lives come along....we feel.....might not be able to say...but...we feel.....

  • Is he crying? great version.

  • @KhanShin naw! he's just emoting the song. ;)

  • when over at her house on fri or sat nite ...Johnny was always there to make sure things went in the right direction.....thanks johnny

  • Well even though I was joking its very true that a large percentage of men do not express such feelings, its just the way life is.

  • JM is actually not a human, of course. No human can sing like that. Neither is Orbison or Pitney. Think aliens !!!

  • i want this song to be played on my very first dance with my wife someday... such a wonderful piece...

  • c'est un pur bonheur de l'entendre chanter ,quelle VOIX sensuelle enveloppante ondulante ……...

  • Geez, I never knew men had such emotions, lol

  • @sixfootlady Thats quite offensively sexist.

  • I was a very young man when I saw this man walk down the steps of the Rex Hotel in Sydney Australia. Black men were exotic in Australia at the time and I thought that he was the most beautiful man that I had ever seen. I will always regret that u never had the courage to just walk up to him and tell him so. Believe me folks he was more than beautiful, whatever that is!

  • @peterppeterp2006 more than beautiful = wonderful!

  • @peterppeterp2006 Black men were exotic in Australia at the time? Australia was a black continent before white settlers came.

  • I Adore him I'm just 49 and I like the oldies.

  • I was 17 at the time, 1955 thru 1959 was the great "Rock and Roll" era. These Johnny Mathis songs were recorded In a Astoria Queens NY sound studio! They included, " Look at me", Wonderful Wonderful", The Twelveth of Never", "Misty" and others! The quality of these sounds, then, and now are timeless.

  • Best makeout music ever!

  • My all time favorite song, by my all time favorite singer..No one can match the voice, on any song. Thank you, Suzi, what a nice birthday gift..

  • I remember listening to this on forces favourites on Sunday mornings 9-12 while mam was cooking Sunday dinner :) takes me right back. :) love it. Thanx

  • Play Misty for me!!!!!!

  • is it just me or does johnny Mathis look like a black Conway Twitty?

  • @themariobros45 lol..he really does! WoW!

  • @themariobros45 Why the comparison? Or why not just say that he looks like Conway Twitty? Why bring race into this?

  • @catholicpriest1 I dunno

  • @themariobros45 he reminds me of a black tony curtis!

  • @themariobros45 i believe that was the point

  • Comment removed

  • my all time favourite

  • i just been playing this on guitar no one sings this lovely song like johnny mathis

  • 20 people have no idea what good music is!

  • Pure Magic!!!!!

  • @kate285 So true, Kate, pure magic!!

  • NOBODY does it BETTER.

  • @BlacknesUnforgivable

by saying they made a huge mistake implies they had a choice.

  • @BlacknesUnforgivable - AND "YOU" THINK WHITES ARE RACIST???? MY FAMILY "NEVER" HAD SLAVES...WE WERE FROM OHIO..WHICH HELPED TO GET 'YOURS' OUT OF THE SOUTH & 'FREE' YOUR PEOPLE (WHICH SHOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED IF YOUR 'OWN PEOPLE' WOULD HAVE NOT SOLD YOU INTO SLAVERY IN THE FIRST PLACE) ..WE HAVE OUR CULTURE, I AM OF SCOTTISH HERITAGE & WE HAVE A "VERY PROUD CULTURE"...AND OUR FAMILIES ARE STILL THERE & HERE...JUST LIKE YOURS. WE OBVIOUSLY MADE A HUGE MISTAKE BY TRUSTING THOSE LIKE YOU.

  • @BETSYSUEU We never read comments that are all in caps, sorry

  • My favorite male vocalist forever! No one will ever touch him. He is a rare God given talent and his voice is his instrument. Saw him live years ago. He always gave extra performances for his fans. Very shy, humble, human being.

  • I want to know how old is he now. He is a great singer and I admire him so much. I'm from Brasil.

  • He still got it after all these years.

  • faultless

  • Pure heaven....When love could be misty...

  • @Belgarathroc

I too think Johnny Mathis is one of the best at performing this song. I love jazz ballads, which is the reason I recorded my sax solo of "Misty" and added the lyrics as written by Johnny Burke, and which Johnny Mathis uses when he performs it. Click on my user name or search YouTube for "AltoSax250 Misty sax solo with Lyrics" Let me know what you think of it.

  • Johnny Mathis' vocals are simply AWESOME!
