  • 3 dislikes... How anyone could dislike this gorgeous and moving music is far beyond my comprehension. Even if it is from a video game people might not like, this music is awe inspiring and beautiful.

  • ;_;

  • this game will not be forgotten.

  • If the hero becomes the fire, the same fate as Gwyn. sorry terrible english.

  • @re3rd

You either continue the cycle and burn as fuel for the First Flame like Gwyn, or break the cycle and bring in the Age of Dark, yeah.

  • 主人公も火を継げばグウィンと同じ末路

  • So satisfying when I finally beat Gwyn. I felt proud of myself after beating this game, which considering how easy games are now, is something I don't say often

  • I like how deep and compelling all the top rated comments are for this video!

  • I beat him with nitos sword +5, I beat his ass up, I hated him for putting me through all of the death and sorrow. This music fit it perfectly. >:D The brutalness of my actions will not be forgotten!

  • This song reminds me of Majora's Mask for some reason.

Oh, and this song is kinda amazing and stuff.

  • @haotshy the music brings me back to Ikana canyon.

"Tell them the war has ended..."

  • The funny thing is, I don't like the game very much, but I could listen to the music all day

  • all i remember of this song was the first few second cause every time i tried to fight gwyn i would get raped to oblivion until i finally tried to parry cause i never knew that worked XD, i guess im a noob but hell i beat this game

  • Perfect music for the last boss

  • I beat this guy on NG+ just rolling and attacking when he went for the grab. Easy once you memorize his moves.

  • I feel so sorry for gwyn every time i play (btw i havent got the dark ending/trueending yet but im going for it wish me luck)

  • @ldude500 there isnt a "true" ending its supposed to be

Sacrifice your self and the world is lit by the light of the fires

    or

King of all darkness and rule the world aka be a dick

  • @link4585 Or is it?

Kindle the fires and prolong the waning power of the few? Or ut an end to the cycle and allow the world to begin anew? There is no true 'good' or 'evil' ending. Hence the reason you get maybe a 30 second cut scene for either option.

  • @Level85HumanStoner you're bashing rpgs and yet your username has a level, race, and class. That concept was started in an RPG you hypocrite

  • (destroys Level85HumanStoner with a Great Sunlight Spear) PRAISE THE SUN!

  • Orstein and smough is the best boss fight of dark souls , but this music is amazing

  • @envy2vivr Ik this is a month old lol but IMO the Four Kings was THE best fight. U have to dump a ring slot to fight'em and switch to gear u dont even like to wear to make the win easier or to not get one-shotted by'em.

Four Kings is the most blood pumping fight i've ever fought. Ornstein and Smough is just unfair, ur getting tag teamed by Fat Albert and Chuck Norris.

  • @TJD005 Four kings is really, really, really easy.

You may think its not, but the fight is just a DPS race. Equip Stone armor, use a big weapon, slap on an enchant and just mash R1. It doesnt matter how "good" you are, the fight just says "You NEED to do this much damage or you wont win, have fun". There is no actual skill involved in it.

  • @TJD005 Oh man , your comparision made my day xD

  • I hope the next game in the souls series has a decent boss fight...

King allant..and now this guy. King allant was an absolute joke of a final boss. The one you fight at the end of world 1 was a better final boss. Gwyn wasn't too bad,but there was so many more powerful bosses in the game.

    :/ oh well

  • Solaire i felt sorry for why was he the one who had to go through so much trouble just trying to find his sun, Solaire fought with me till the very end, on my first playthrough when i found him taken over by the Sunlight Maggots i shed a tear because i had to kill him, And please has anyone else got the feeling he's connected to Gwyn? but Alas i shall say Praise The Sun!

  • @TheXXL4DmAsTeRsXx

Fucking get laid you fucking loser. All of you wtf read what you are actually writing. ultimate omega virgins

  • @Level85HumanStoner its called rping lol it makes the game even more epic even if its on some ost on youtube leave us nerds be

  • @Level85HumanStoner

    compensation much? hahahaha

  • @Level85HumanStoner Aww if you don't like it then Fuck off cause i cba with asshole's like you who think there all high and mighty do US ALL a favor and GTFO.

  • @Level85HumanStoner And and by the way go and be an angry little troll somewhere else cuz m8 nobody want's u around if your gunna have little 2 year old anger rants then go somewhere else.

  • @Level85HumanStoner Oh, shut the fuck up would you? Nobody asked for your opinion, and nobody cares. We're huge fans of Dark Souls, but that doesn't mean you can act like a stupid prick and start bitching. If this is how you waste your time, then I pity you. I really do. And instead of telling peope to get laid, how about you get sober? If this idiotic comment isn't a result of excessive drinking, then I REALLY pity you. Fuck off and bother someone else, asshole.

  • @theninjamandude Don't lost your time with him....He's already a hollow....

  • @LeKetur71 That explains it.....then there's only one thing to do for the poor, senseless man. *draws my halberd*

  • @LeKetur71 You sir just earned a like.

  • @Level85HumanStoner I'm not mad. I'm disgusted that people like you think you're so much better than other people, just because of your different interests. Why don't you just let us be? You don't see us bitching at you because you like something. You don't like the little fanfics people write? then don't read them. But don't go around trying to prove something by acting like a dick. You need to grow up, man.

  • @theninjamandude

Dude, don't bother. He's a Brony and a troll. Any argument he makes is invalid.

  • @IcaraelTheWanderer Woah woah, calm down. Bronies don't want him either, and yeah, he's retarded. Leave him to waste his time posting pointless shit for some false sense of accomplishment.

  • @IcaraelTheWanderer Uhm......I happen to be a Brony myself.

  • @Level85HumanStoner why do you care? Do you realy have to be an asshole to other people to feel acomplished yourself? You really went to the video of the soundtrack of a "nerd-game" to piss people off, and calling random people virgins? Thats pathetic.

Or you simply are a nerd yourself, trying to be cool, by mocking other people.

I feel sorry for you... Hollow

  • i killed solaire, in the lost izalith cause he tried killing me, it was so creepy and disturbing since hes mumbling words the whole fight , and then when you defeat him he says hes finally found his sun, but it is so dark, so very dark.

  • Gywn was the perfect boss. Grounded enough to feel like you could beat him, but powerful enough to fear his every move...the music kinda demonstrates the final epicenter of the player's toils...all the fighting....all the dieing....all the sacrifice...leading up to this one final obstacle.

  • @IsaacShadow11 been a while seeing these kind

  • @IsaacShadow11 Coulden´t have expressed it better my self...

  • In contrast to all those epic over-the-top soundtracks with choirs chanting for mah death, I get this piece that's insanely tranquil.

I guess it makes sense, its 6am, 13th time in, and all I got is this hobo with a gigantic flaming baseball bat beating mah skull in.

  • Strange how relaxing this song is now when in the actual fight every note was timed with my heartbeat. Barely a sliver of HP left with only my Black Knight shield defending me from Gwyn's crazed swings...

  • To be honest, I found the music much more fitting when you use the parrying trick. Because seeing Gwyn's attacks constantly thwarted and him being stabbed and kicked to the ground by the player....it really creates a sense of brutal succession, even of a coup, especially if you are going for the Dark Ending. It shows that this battle is not a glorious or epic dance of swords, but a sad, dismal necessity. Something that simply must be done. A hired hit for an old man afraid of the future. :/

  • @SunflashTehMace Or if you use iron skin so every time he hits you it does little to nothing while he is ironically burned up by the fires of his enemy.

  • @SunflashTehMace Epic....Epic Name Bro????

  • @SunflashTehMace Well written my friend.

  • @SunflashTehMace God: Are you serious? It's just a piece of trash blowing in the wind!! Do you know how complicated the nervous system is???

  • @SunflashTehMace This comment made me cry a little bit.. so much epicness when you read it and think about it.. bravo my friend...bravo

  • You stand at a crossroad, Chosen Undead... will you prolong the reign of the Gods, and extend the Age of Fire? Or will you let the light go out, beginning the Age of Dark,...giving the power to mankind, and allowing the world to begin again? All that stands before you....is one...last...enemy...

  • probably the only video game boss i ever respected.

  • Where can I get this masterpiece? Gwyn was one of those bosses that just kicked my ass over and over. As I started growing more and more used to the fight and adapting to his moves I started to appreciate this fight more and more. He was really one of the only bosses that seemed to come at it with all they had. Every time I go back to this fight it's hard to bring myself to actually fight him like a boss. I can't think of another boss that compares to Gwyn, he is quite the character.

  • @stevo6728 I'm just going to point at False King Allant when I hold up the standard of final bosses, while Gwyn had this amazing build up as well as an epic fight. Allant was that one boss you constantly backed away from because if you made one wrong move, you were dead.

  • Unlike many people here, I only shed a tear because Gwyn's old ass kept killing me. Respect your elders indeed

  • King Allant disliked this

  • @MrAdvisablecone250 Uh, I think he planned on winning.

  • Number of wipes: 90878978567669. I walk in 1 last time, instantly: You died. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

  • the song has the feeling of regret because lord Gwyn knows that he has failed. He denied the dark age of man and instead insisted to pursue the continuance of the age of fire, even though it was nothing more than a cinder at that point. Lord Gwyn wants one last chance to die honorably and atone for his sins.

  • 1 dislike huh? Sorry man, this is better than rap.

  • @ErnestoBarbicha Solaire was also Gwyn's firstborn son.

  • Thx for the playlist

  • This song has the sound of regret. At least, that's the feeling I get from it.

  • >related videos

    >NYAN FART

what is this goddamn fucking retarded bullshit in my beautiful dark souls OST

  • To me this battle felt like a final test. You were to success Lord Gwyn, but before you could do so you had to take him on in one final duel to prove to him that you are the chosen one who would link the fire. He is dying, so he wants to be put out of his misery. However before he dies, he wants find a successor so that the world can finally live in peace. That is why, Lord Gwyn is easily the best final boss ever.

  • gwyn may have relentless aggressive fearless attack.and with greaat sword.but old KING allant has multiple speed combo attack and his soulbrand strike wind magic from far away.also allant NUL ALL element.allant attack can't parry.what if king allant charge us with gwyn like relentless attack.0_Ooh crap.PRAISE THE SUN AND BOLETARIAAAAaaaa.

  • I entered this room with a feeling of accomplishment, I felt like I was about to change the world around me. What I got was a frail old king Scared of Darkness fighting to survive, that is when I truly felt like the unexpurgated evil that destroyed Lordran and Anor londo My emotions were the final boss. No game is history has been able to make me feel this way This is why dark souls is an absolute masterpiece.

  • @runescapeaqown old yes... frail noooooooo.

  • @Kaous10 He was angered by his frail figure and ashamed of it thats why he created gwyndolin.

  • @TheVideoMenace1 no Gwyndolin was ashamed of his frail figure so he created gwynavere.

  • Probably the best OST in the game.. yet we can only hear it so little... Next time I'm gonna go fist only and make the fight last forever! D:<

  • This + Great Grey Wolf Sif = Manly Tears To Be Shed

  • I have ventured through a castle filled with undead, to reach their church. I have been far down below, in a place called the Blighttown. I have overcome the traps and dangers of Sen's Fortress, to reach Anor Londo. Here I conquered the City of Gods to retrieve the Lordvessel, a mysterious grail craving the Souls of the Lords...

And so I did, slaying the four lords granted accsess to the realm of the Lord of Cinder, Gwyn. A God deprived of his power, fearing his inevitable death. This is it!

  • When I killed Gwyn, I cried.

It was all over, all of it was over.

However I did not cry from joy, I shed my tears in realization that I would never be able to fight a man like that again.

Until I found that there was ng+...

  • @IceIfrit666 that's funny

    LOL

  • this song worth the entere limited edition...

  • I'd write a deep and meaningful comment about the Dark Souls mythos, but I'd rather just listen to this song.

  • for Gwyn.to an old king left alone in the dark,to a great enemy,to a great boss fight that i dont want to take part in..

  • If you play this song while also putting up rainymood(dot)com, it becomes about 10x more dramatic.

    T_T

  • @BaconBall8 Wow, that does work...

  • @BaconBall8

Now I'm wishing the Gwyn battle was set somewhere high outside, in the midst of a violent thunder storm. Water floods the stone floor, lightning in the background and raindrops turning to steam as they hit Gwyn's flaming sword.

  • @SenorRu

I think that would have made this battle the BEST battle of like...all time.

  • @SenorRu ...What you just said reminds me of Devil May Cry 3.

  • this epic song just made me feel like Gwyn knew about the end of his reign, and had to fight back for keeping it going, and every counter/stab i made, i looked his face telling "it's not over" with this song, sad as his end

  • i wanted Solaire to be with me when i killed Gwyn ;W; he never found his own sun...i was forced to kill him ;__; Since he turns...well hollow-ish...I'm sorry Sun Bro ; O ;

    Jolly Co-Operation forever

  • Such a Hollow Victory. All that time and effort killing Demon spawn from the depths of hell, Witches, Dragons, The Undead and countless Abominations. Only to build up to killing a lonely old man, Who was simply scared to be left in the Darkness.

    Such a hollow, Empty victory.

  • @iPotatos That's touching, thank you for that. =(

My friends kept building up this fight as if it were going to be the most difficult battle in the game. But he was no giant ogre or creature. He was just a man, so scared he attacked without so much as an opening scene.

  • They always do this :/ Same thing happened with Demon's souls.

All you had to fight at the end of the game after all that crap was a poor, poor excuse for a living being, who had given the lives of his countrymen for power. All he got in return was becoming a sickening blob.

I kinda like that though. Its part of what makes the games unique. They have endings like this, but I don't think any of us were ever in it for the ending itself, but the journey to it.

  • I guess this would have been an epic fight, but the sun bro I was with just blasted him with crystal soul mass a few times :|

  • Now that I beat it NG+ feels hollow. Although I am trying to cover any angles that I missed not sure I can keep playing. I have to admit after finishing this I am simply yearning for more. I want new bosses, new challenges, new areas to explore. I have never been so frustrated yet so addicted to a game such as this. I guess I shall patiently await the next addition

  • the best boss theme i have ever heard.

  • When i heard this song while fighting Gwyn, flashbacks came through my head. All the times i have died and my long journey that was soon to end.

I have NEVER played a game with an ending that leaves you thinking in the end.

  • man i was so fucking busy trying not to get hit by this asshole i didnt even listened to the music lol

  • I went in with Solaire, not because I needed him but because he deserved to be there. After searching for so long and failing to find his own sun, I couldn't just leave him like that, alone and forgotten. He had helped me many times before with my quest, gaining nothing in return, so this was not just my fight. He deserved to be there, to watch the beginning of a new world So we fought Gwyn, together as brothers. One final act of heroism.

    Our swan song.

    ...

    I'm so gay for Solaire.

  • @ErnestoBarbicha wow man that was a very heartfelt text

  • @ErnestoBarbicha Solaire helps you kill his own father, lol.

  • @Ziserain Except Gwyn isn't Brolaire's father.

  • @kdreadnought

    yes he is.

  • @Fantabanubbus No, he isn't, give me evidence of Solaire, or anyone else, claiming that he is Gwy 's son, I'll start be giving you evidence he isn't.

He can be summoned via the White soapsign, only undead can do this.

He implies he had just arrived in Lordran, meaning he had never been there before.

Gwyn had 3 known children, The god of war, Gwynevere, and Gwyndolin.

    Your turn.

  • @kdreadnought

Solaire IS the god of war, silly :P or he was anyways, read the sunlight medal description and the sunlight blade description.

  • @Fantabanubbus Just because he dresses like the God of War doesn't mean he is, and besides, He's undead, he can't be Gwyn's Fistborn if he is Undead, it means he is decended from the Pigmy.

  • @kdreadnought no he lost his deity status he was gywns son but he defied him so they took his powers away and he isnt undead and he never hollows he just goes crazy

  • @30SECONDSREMAINING Then how can you summon him?

Only undead can be summoned, and if he can be summoned, he's not Gwyn's son. I'm not angry or anything, i'm just enjoying a good internet argument :).

  • @kdreadnought humans cant only be summond and if he is lord gwyns son it would explain why when he is summond he is gold

  • Comment removed

  • @30SECONDSREMAINING He is Gold because he is part of the Warriors of Sunlight, Sunbros in other words.

Oh, and just to Clarify, i use the word undead as a stereotype for all the NPCs in the game, you can 'look' human, but you are still undead.

  • @kdreadnought i know tht ( i thought it sounded cool though) and besides if a god is stripped of his staus he must turn into a form of human it only makes sense if sunbro is the first born

  • @30SECONDSREMAINING Yes, but then he won't be undead, he'll be a human, and never get the darksign, because he is Lord Gwyn's son, thus, not being able to be summoned, oh, and another thing, in Anor Londo, you can find him 'Resting' by a bonfire, a very 'undead' thing to do.

    Your turn. :D

  • @kdreadnought well he could just be sitting down after all if he is resting at a bonfire all npc's would have responded sun bro is the son he just lost his statues ( and damn i hate going all the way down to find your comment lets switch to pm)

  • @30SECONDSREMAINING Only undead rest at the bonfires :).

  • @kdreadnought he is not resting he is merely admiring the view

  • @30SECONDSREMAINING The view of the Bonfire, which he is staring at, while sitting down in the exact fashion that outher undeads do.

  • @kdreadnought

Also I just arrived at my house an hour ago after work, but that doesn't mean I've never been here before.

  • @ErnestoBarbicha Solaire does deserve to see gwyn...even in that state

  • Comment removed

  • @ErnestoBarbicha rofl - what the hell did I just read

  • @ErnestoBarbicha that would have been hella dope if they said that in the game

  • @ErnestoBarbicha I'm speechless. Thank you so much for your comment. Thumbs up, up, up...

  • @ErnestoBarbicha Dude, everyone's gay for Solaire.

  • @ErnestoBarbicha Praise the Sun Brotha praise the Sun.

  • This piece fits Gwyn perfectly

He was a mighty ruler, one of the founders of fire, and a hero who fought against the Dragons. But realizing that the fires were fading, and with most of his fellow lords either growing weak or gone completely insane, he set off alone and abonened everything to rekindle the flames that gave life. Alas, his powers while great were not enough, and still the fire slowly died...thus making his sacrifice and pain only pointless.

beating him was a mercy kill imo.

  • This sounds exactly like a track from Eternal Sonata.

  • @richierich49er

Yeah, I got him around the third fight with Iron flesh + 2 handed fire Iato R1 spam.

  • @1GODOFWAR1 -lol it took me like 30 times but I did it the hard way. No parry, no magic, no armor, no poise, no fire. also I had 25 endurance and 28 strength which isnt great either. my highest was 30 vitality.

  • The greatest final boss theme ever and I've been playing games since 1988.

  • Every time you try to flask up this bastard jumps clear across the map.

  • @1GODOFWAR1- you should wait until after he tries to grab you, or is behind a rock

  • Well my first experience of this fight was Gwyn force-feeding me that sword of his.

Unlike the Old King, Gwyn doesn't take shit from anyone.

  • dude this fight was really hard at the beginning cuz i didnt know how to counter him.. I then realised that he will be stunned like for one second if you hit him really fast.. I used quelaag's fury sword with 6 humanity bonus or so.. the key is to have around 15 estus flask and wolf ring equipped.. dodge one atack and hit him mercyless dont be afraid if he hits you back a couple of hits he WILL be stuned like for 1 second.. then you can either recover stamina and keep attacking or consume estus

  • Gahawd damn knights be fucking my shit up all day OH light mmk final boss OH this music is pret- OH FUCK ITS THE BOSS AND HIS SWORD IS ON FIRE OH GOD dodgedodge FUCK FIRE runrunrunrunrunrun GAWD DAMNIT runrunrunrunrun BALLSACK runrunrunrunrunrun

    >Learn to parry

    YOU AINT SHIT, FINAL BOSS

    WOO

    >New Game +

Well stick me in a dress and call me Sally.

  • @Shadoweddusk Hi Sally.

  • as i found out u can parry his attackes i changed my shield into artorias (shield +10 and soul of sif) cause its a greatshield and u cant parry with it... i wanted to win this fight without parrying

  • Comment removed

  • sorry gwyn, but someone has to stop this.

    unleash the darkness

  • I favor this tune a lot because unlike Demon Souls, well for one it was a freaking hard boss. two well, it has beautiful final fantasy-ish music! unlike some overpowereing opera-ish vocalization while fighting a...deformed....king in the form of a...salamander? That goes...two ways maybe? (hahahaha!!!!) ahaha... and for three, i could do ballerina to it ;)

  • I felt very bad when i killed him with 3 Crystal-Soulspears. I was paniced by his attacks, since i would have been dead with 2 hits. (I am Mage)

But the ~30 seconds i heard of this song made me open youtube as fast as possible after the credits.

  • I have to say this fitting for a final boss. That being a fallen hero fighting what he feared most. a human trying to take his thrown. The fate of the world on the line.

This song epic for the atmosphere of the fight.

  • I just beat him tonite. Had to die 4 times to get the hang of his attack patterns... But after u memorize what to expect from the monster and bosses it becomes much easier :/.

I was at a stalemate. Had no flasks with a pinch of life, he had a pinch of life also on the last round. and he grabed twice in a row. That gave me time to swap for my crystal shield for an energy toss at him for the final blow xD. He dodged the 1st toss and my heart fell but he grabed the 2nd time and I finished'em

  • @stuntman7000 You can't cry to music, not even manly tears? laughinggirls.jpeg.tiff

It was the atmosphere, on the way to his abode, there was nothing but silence along with the occasional knight. Even the boss stage had a niche of loneliness to it, even if he was "BIGBADGUY."

  • best part 1:00 - 1:25

  • @beserkman47

I like that part best to, wish i could play instruments as good as this D:

  • @DestructiveNoodle We all do TT_TT

  • The darkness of the room is constantly being lit by his giant firesword. When I first fought him, it was like a 15 minute trance, I was hypnotized by his sword, and I had to watch it closely to figure out when to block and when to let my stamina regenerate. I didn't cheese him with iron flesh + havel armor like some people. It truly felt like an epic dance with fire. The lighting of the room changed dynamically with each of his sword sweeps. To call it "epic" does not do this battle justice.

  • @sleepyzealot Especially when you walk through the fog, Gwyn waiting for you as you and he slowly walk towards each other for a few moments before breaking into a sprint then leaping at each other. Simply too awesome of a way to start a battle with the final boss of a notoriously hard game.

The battle was even better if you were going for the Dark Lord ending, as Gwyn would be the final line of defence of the first flame that you were going to extinguish. This surpassed Ocarina of Time...for me

  • @sleepyzealot Though I like the music, I honestly hate Gwyn boss fight because of the drawn out, repetitive, and cheap nature of it. I found the most effective non-cheap way of beating him is either you die enough to a point where you learn all his repertoire and start parrying or just turtle up with a flame retardant shield and armor and keep running backwards with your shield up and strike the moment he finishes his grab, kick, or jump. Old King Allant boss fight is much better than this.

  • @d2tazdev Yeah, but The Old King Allant was not hard what so ever.

  • @d2tazdev True enough, I haven't attempted any other ways to beat him other than massive backpedaling and waiting for him to whiff on a grab or kick to strike, and the true difficulty in that method is paying attention to his sword and trying not to get held up on stalagmites or wander into a corner and get shredded. As for Allant, that fight, too, was very intense, especially with the dragon shaking the screen. However, Allant left himself open at times as well, such as his shockwave charge-up.

  • @d2tazdev I stopped reading after "repetitive nature."

  • @d2tazdev dude, just parry him.

  • @sleepyzealot Lucky you, when I fought him the first time I dodged his charge and then 4 crystal soul spears +1HCM killed him and he was stagger locked, was such a let down fight for me especially after coming off of 4 kings.

  • Reminds me of myself begging to Gwyn, telling him to stay still for one second while I drink my flask, but no, he kept coming.

  • I entered, expecting an introduction, him brandishing his sword or approaching you or something. The song and him leaping towards you threw me off, and I'm pretty sure that was their intention.

Still pretty fitting considering you're killing what is essentially the previous hero, bringing your hellish quest to an end, finally.

  • @BlastedToitles

Gwyn was no hero. He is but a sad god who fear that men would one day rise again him and end his age. He attempted to cage all of them into the Undead Asylum you started at. If you got the Kaathe ending, you would know that you are actually the dark lord of men(Decendant of the furtive pygmy) that Gwyn feared, and the usherer of the Age of Dark(Men).

Gwyn tried to postphone the rise by
