It's a song about a break up or a fight in a relationship. He's singing about sleeping alone but still imagining the other one being there, but he messed up somehow and was selfish--hence being a dagger that was "too numb to feel her pain" but ultimately he's sorry and he realizes he made a mistake; "I am your world / I am your wound."

"I didn't really lose you / I just lost it for a while" -- taking responsibility for messing things up.

I'm 17, and I listen to a huge variety of music from punk and shoegaze to grunge, folk and classic rock, and even rap on occasion (though its rap from the "golden age" of rap rather than today's rap). I think its unfair to generalize and say that all of todays music is garbage, or that all of the music kids listen to is garbage. There is in fact alot of great music today, it just happens to be buried in a sea of crap.
