u dont necessarily need fly and u dont need tht guy in front of that tunnel, all u need is abra-alakasam to teleport but u will need tht youngster with the slowpoke, all u have to do is walk in front of somebody and teleport...than its basically the same process

Judging by the name, I feel like that name renders the game's code to get a Mew. I may be wrong, but meh, I dunno. :o

This isn't a glitch or a hack. It's a way of tricking the game's code into "activating" the mew special event. The code retains information from the last pokemon fought, and letting the gambler see you but then flying away makes the random appearance section of the game code borrow from the last pokemon fought. One of the Slowpoke's stats carries over and influences the game to spawn a mew.

my sister got our mew this exact way about 8 years ago.  I was speechless when it worked and ive been utterly confused ever since.

here are some tips for doing the mew glitch:

1. save before you start the glitch

2. don't talk to any trainers or walk on the space right infront of them. your game will freeze.

3. you can change the mew's level by using growl or any other move that will change the other pokemon's attack stat.

4. using this glitch, you can run into missingno. which will give you 128 of your 6th item (the quantity should appear as a random shape and a number)

Anybody who thinks this is a bug is idiotic. If they didn't know about it why would there be some sort of secret sequence to get to it. It's not like when they were programming it there were wild pokemon running around their software. It is all scripted.

Mew was a registered pokémon in-game when they brought the game out. He could only be caught by winning a contest created by nintendo and sending your game cartridge to them. But they didn't know about people being able to manipulate the game buffer by escaping from an already ongoing (for the system that is) fight.

After battling with the other guy, the buffer has been messed up to contain the same code as nintendo would have used to give you a mew. The pausing is a mere side effect from the glitch, you would be able to catch a mew by running through grasses after the last fight. The teleporting is needed so the buffer won't reset itself.

This glitch in the game can only be done in pokemon red, blue, and yellow. An emulator isn't necessary but for recording purposes, its easier with it than filming a gameboy screen.
