How can you believe in God and Buddha at the same time? By definition, if you believe in one religion, you must be an unbeliever in all the others. Obviously, they can not all be true.

@Derukugi2 Buddha was never a god. He was a man. You can "believe" in Buddha as easily as you can "believe" in Thomas Edison. The belief in a God - or lack thereof - does not prevent one from being a Buddhist or practicing the Buddha's teachings.

Doesn´t matter if you consider Buddha "god". The point is that Buddha teaches some things, and any number of gods teach completely different things.

Buddha considered matters of gods, after-life, etc to be outside the scope of his teachings which were, simply, to teach people a way to relieve human suffering ... by understanding the nature of the experience of being a human being. Many buddhist practitioners consider Buddhism not to be a religion at all but rather a philosophical/psychological teaching.

I gathered ('Windows onto the Faith #8') that God sent (sends) messengers throughout time, each with their own message, restricted to a certain people and period. Certain principles were stressed in those messages. Moreover, God bestowed special favors on each Prophet and community according to the dictates of the time. For example, Noah was steadfast and persevering. Jesus was distinguished with patience, tolerance and compassion. I can't help but wonder about the Buddha.

@Gandarufu There are no pre-defined breathing spots. When chanting in a group each indivudal breathes when he runs out of breath and rejoins the group after breathing. Since not everyone breathes at the same time one can hardly hear any "holes". If you listen closely you will hear that some voices momentrily disappear while they breathe. In this video, concentrate on the one female voice.

No, the language isn't Korean; it's "sino-Japanese". The text is written in Chinese characters (translated and adapted/abridged from the original, much longer, Sanskrit "mahaprajnaparamita" sutra, and chanted in a stylised Japanese pronunciation of those Characters.

The mantra at the end ("Gate gate Pāragate Pārasamgate Bodhi svāhā") is Sanskrit, but again chanted in sino-japanese.

As far as i know , indeed you are right about the excessive rubbin gof the beads .

But i know that reciting the heart sutra is acompanied by the wooden fish shaped figure . using it to keep the pace in the sutra ,whether you like it or not , its part of the formalities .
