you are right Buddha was never a god nor should any one be outcatsed from there own just beause the belief they have in Buddha ... i beleave in the enlightenment nof all persons ..
How can you believe in God and Buddha at the same time? By definition, if you believe in one religion, you must be an unbeliever in all the others. Obviously, they can not all be true.
@Derukugi2 Buddha was never a god. He was a man. You can "believe" in Buddha as easily as you can "believe" in Thomas Edison. The belief in a God - or lack thereof - does not prevent one from being a Buddhist or practicing the Buddha's teachings.
Doesn´t matter if you consider Buddha "god". The point is that Buddha teaches some things, and any number of gods teach completely different things.
By definition, this whole concept finding "all religions beautiful" is fuzzy-wuzzy nonsense. If you find any number of contradictory beliefs equally beautiful, you really denigrate them all.
the phrase "all religion's beautiful" sounds like something buddha would say. Form is emptiness right? Religions are forms right? I agree with you. I don't agree with you. what does it matter what i think. what i think matters to nothing
@100Frederick001 We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts we make the world. Speak or act with an impure mind And trouble will follow you As the wheel follows the ox that draws the cart. We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts we make the world. Speak or act with a pure mind And happiness will follow you As your shadow, unshakable. - Dhammapada (sayings of the Buddha), Choices
@TrueFreek Completely true, Derukugi ... buddhism is non-theistic. Buddha considered matters of gods, after-life, etc to be outside the scope of his teachings which were, simply, to teach people a way to relieve human suffering ... by understanding the nature of the experience of being a human being. Many buddhist practitioners consider Buddhism not to be a religion at all but rather a philosophical/psychological teaching.
@TrueFreek Is it wrong of me to kind of think that Budda's ascension is kind of like how a god typically does in fantasy games like Skyrim and Baldur's Gate and Dungeons & Dragons? Because it works the same way for those avatars and gods. They were once human or even something lowly like insects but has since ascended.
@Derukugi2 I once read that religion is not unlike an eternal flame burning inside a multicolored lantern. No matter through which color pane one views the flame, the flame itself (the essence) remains the same.
Well, "I once read" all sorts of things. Naturally I assumed that this quote which you "once read" actually sounded meaningful to you. Otherwise, why post it?
@Derukugi2 Hehe. Seriously dude. What kind of milk are you drinking? If "essence" means to adhere to moral and ethical principles, like being kind and compassionate, honest and righteous, then where's the fault? I wasn't talking about religions that do not adhere to these principles. I guess I should have made that clear.
I gathered ('Windows onto the Faith #8') that God sent (sends) messengers throughout time, each with their own message, restricted to a certain people and period. Certain principles were stressed in those messages. Moreover, God bestowed special favors on each Prophet and community according to the dictates of the time. For example, Noah was steadfast and persevering. Jesus was distinguished with patience, tolerance and compassion. I can't help but wonder about the Buddha.
Does it matter what sect in buddhism you follow to listen to this .... and if some of you guys tell me what is the meaning of SUTRAS in general (why do them ) . As you notice I have very little knowledge in the subject so it will be much appreciated if you could guide me

There is a Zen story - Someone gave a Zen hermit a picture of the Amida Buddha. He accepted it and put it in his hut, but he wrote this on it: Dear Amida Buddha, I don't mind giving your picture a home, but please don't think I'm asking to be reborn in your heaven. (No offense intended to Amidha Buddhists!)
This is a standard Zen recitation of hannya shingyou. After the chanting the abbot dedicates the merit generated to Buddha, Dogen, Keizan, and bodhisattvas. The final chant is for the same cause, and the final bells indicate the head monks are leaving.
No, the language isn't Korean; it's "sino-Japanese". The text is written in Chinese characters (translated and adapted/abridged from the original, much longer, Sanskrit "mahaprajnaparamita" sutra, and chanted in a stylised Japanese pronunciation of those Characters.
The mantra at the end ("Gate gate Pāragate Pārasamgate Bodhi svāhā") is Sanskrit, but again chanted in sino-japanese.
When a sincere truth seeker attains the wisdom of enlightenment, he realizes that all the five senses are empty and he transcends every suffering.
Listen: All things are no different from emptiness; emptiness is not different from all things. Form is emptiness; emptiness is form. Feelings, perceptions, impulses, consciousness are also like this.
@holzpusher thumb up for you. I like it in Sanskrit , but they are all uploaded with back round music, If you or anyone find one chanted in Sanskrit WITHOUT music back round, please inform me. Thanks much
No I'm absolutely serious. They chose the wrong person to lead that's all - and the bastard is beating on that wooden thing too much. sometimes people will rub their beads together too excessively. This is not true worship it's only distracting. So, tell that bastard to KNOCK IT OFF!!!!!!!!!!!
As far as i know , indeed you are right about the excessive rubbin gof the beads .
But i know that reciting the heart sutra is acompanied by the wooden fish shaped figure . using it to keep the pace in the sutra ,whether you like it or not , its part of the formalities .

There are also some religions that are very ugly. I don´t think Buddha would say something so stupid.
Anyway, my point is that by slapping the label "religion" on a belief system, it does not automatically become beautiful.

Hi Sophie2503 -
No, the language isn't Korean; it's "sino-Japanese".

It is good to have translation. Empty. Falling... No falling.

No I'm absolutely serious. They chose the wrong person to lead that's all - and the bastard is beating on that wooden thing too much. sometimes people will rub their beads together too excessively. This is not true worship it's only distracting. So, tell that bastard to KNOCK IT OFF!!!!!!!!!!!
buzzclark 2 years ago
As far as i know , indeed you are right about the excessive rubbin gof the beads .
But i know that reciting the heart sutra is acompanied by the wooden fish shaped figure . using it to keep the pace in the sutra ,whether you like it or not , its part of the formalities .
Not to annoy you personally though .
Niether do i wish to offend anyone else :)

一緒に唱えましょう・これが札所での読経そのものです。自分の息継ぎが周りに釣られて出来なくなります。息継ぎ箇所をしっかり決めておかないと息切れしてしまいます。
