Tarja was fired from the band around October/November 2005 and I guess they brought Anette in a few months later. Tarja had problems with the band and management not being professional enough with booking, promotion, etc. and providing the things she needed, like rest, water, a place to change, etc. to sound and look her best on stage. The band interpreted this as her being a "diva" and being "corrupted by money."

Tarja tried to resolve her problems with the band but finally decided they weren't going to ever be fixed so she told the band she planned to leave in 2007 to concentrate on solo career after recording the next album and touring for it. However the band waited until the end of the 2005 tour and then fired her. Nightwish's Wikipedia entry is a good source of info on all of this.
