@TheDardanianKnight Nope, not directly. This anime's based on the game Super Robot Wars Original Generation 2, which is a collection of all the original characters and mechs from the main SRW series without any of the licensed characters and mechs (Which includes Gundam)

@Stealthwilde The only relationship SRW OG has with gundam is that the R-series are homages to Gundams. R-1 is a reference to Zeta Gundam, R-2 is the Guncannon, and R-3 is that giant flower themed mobile weapon thingy. Also the Huckebeins(which are absent in the anime) are designed by the same person who designs most of the gundams making it very Gundamy in design, retaining the famous V crest.

I'm glad I picked this game for my GBA emulator! Fucking awesome game, Super Robot EPICNESS! Alteisien and Weissrietter are my favorite mechs, but I put Sanger's Grungust Type O at #1.

Super Robot Wars is pretty much all about awesome attack animations, character development, and having your favorite mechas fight together. It doesn't even need a good plot as example of the first Super Robot Wars game, but still, it has good plots.

@fha64 I guess it's kind of symbolic. The one piloting the Dygenguard and the pilot of the Aussenseiter are really good friends, so I assume it has something to do with that. Warriors on horseback were also something to be feared on the battlefield, but the most important factor is probably that it looks badass. :P

@entaer 1st? XD Technically, the "1st" OG unit with boobs was Valcione which first appeared around SRW3 or 4, I think. And even then, Valcione wasn't the first robot ever with boobs, Aphrodite A from Mazinger Z was the first one ever, circa 1972. And her breasts were first cannons then missles. ;) As for the robot in this opening, Angelg, it's breasts don't do anything special. However, the model that it's based off of, the Suimarg Splendid, had laser cannons in them. :)

You typed this 7 months, but whatever. Gurren Lagann is just one giant homage to super robot anime so that ain't helping your argument about "copies" (though it is a favorite of mine). Not sure what his deal with Gundam and this is though. Outside G Gundam and Turn A Gundam the franchise is strictly real robot as far as I know. UC especially, so it's not even comparable. @EOCB The Mecha you're reffering to, the Alteisen, is bulky, like VERY bulky. EVAs on the other hand are tall, thin and lanky. Even the head designs are vastly different, as the EVA was designed to be more organic and beat-like for obvious reasons. With all that in mind, how'd you get EVA-ripoff from that?

Also, EVA did not invent glowing robot eyes, and I doubt it invented the specific camera angle, either. Next thing I know you're going to say that TTGL is original and revolutionary.

@SockHyren I agree. Whoever calls Alteisen an EVA is fucking dumb. Evangalion was mediocre at best as an anime anyway. It's overrated as fuck. It's an insult to Alteisen to say he's any way related to EVA.

And yeah, TTGL may not be unique or revolutionary, but it was made as a homage to Super Robot classics. I like the lack of originality. It brings some nosalgia along with a shit ton of badass memories of it's own. Still my favorite anime along with GaoGaiGar, s-CRY-ed, New Getter, etc.

@TetraVaalBioSecurity Its very good much better then SRW OG Divine Wars tv series and the ova's since they relied too heavily on 3D computer graphics for the mechs which made it look like cheap production, the animation in general for the characters were just ok but at times were a bit out of place, this is just an opinion.

SRW Taisen OG The Inspector in terms of art/animations is far superior to the older series so what you see here for the opening is what you will get when watching episodes.

@KennyMallory Actually, the difference is that if you choose Kyosuke, you only get to used the combined SRX for 1 mission as a scripted event, then you can't use it anymore. If you choose Ryusei, you can combine anytime after the event where you first get it. I don't know what the perk for picking Kyosuke is.

@Moredeathex Well, picking Kyosuke's route has a few, less obvious perks. Sanger and Elzam join earlier than they do in Ryusei's route, you keep Kai as an active pilot, the beginning stages are a little harder than Ryusei's but pay off since the final battles are much easier compared to R Gun Rivale and Judecca fights back to back.

Beginning of this season totally differs from game (OG2),it will be interesting if there will be another ending :)

You'll appreciate the story if you watch/play previous anime/OG game, or you can read a summary of what happened before.
