  • More fascinating commentary by this goofy duo can be heard by watching this clip: no movie tonight aka the burnside bummer. In producing OUTDOOR MOOVIES, it was always a challenge to entertain...these scripted idiotic segments represent what we considered attempted comedy.

  • Fascinating commentary.

  • @monster4josh An attept at comedy is all. You are, as you know, a You Tube trail;blaiser. Thank you.

  • that second comentator sounds like strong bad from home star runner lol

but seriously though, the driveins are disappering fast its not right but luckaly we still have one in our town. and its still nice ecept for all the bugs.

  • To jdstarlt: No, there was not a SOUTHSIDE in the area. The Lansing area consisted of:

    M-78 Meridian Twnship

    LANSING First to open

CREST Okemos Adult in the end

    STAR LITE an empty lot

    NORTHSIDE Dewitt

  • Roger Moore again? Nice drive In!

  • I'd pay admission to roam around one of these abandoned sites, and, if I won a million dollars I'd reopen one. OPENING NIGHT: Dusk til Dawn James Bond...ALL Roger Moore! Then, I'd start showing first run movies.

  • wAS THERE A southside DRIVE IN IN THE AREA?

  • There was a drive-in on the southside of Lansing. It was the Lansing Drive-In located at Cedar and Jolly. It operated from 1948 to 1981. I'm VERY interested in finding any photos or videos of it.

  • To bigg 3469: Sounds like you had a nice collection of drive ins!

  • Buck night sounds like it was fun. Wierd audio track but I guess it was comedy? You should add a laugh track!

  • Sure miss the NORTHSIDE! Now, it's just a stinking empty lot!

  • To bigg 3469: Here's a couple ideas: Maybe you could talk the manager of the WALMART into putting up a frammed photograph of the HI WAY 39 DRIVE IN THEATER on the wall of the store? It's worth a try, isn't it? Then every time you went shopping there you could look up and see it. Also, since the SANTA FE SPRINGS is still in tact, maybe we could all pitch in and reopen it. I hate taft - are you with us? Caption Decisions? How about it? Too many drive ins are being lost. Save the Santa Fe S !

  • I enjoyed the Goofy Sanford and Son audio again. The Northside looked like a pretty cool drive in. To Caption Deisions - those Spanish Horror Fests sound like they were fun! To gasman 396: Congrats on the PG13 sign! I just watched a video of the M78 snack bar and I share your sadness that they tore it down. At least when they are still standing there is always the chance that they could reopen, maybe even the ALBION? It'd be cool to have that NORTHSIDE sign but where could you put it?

  • What makes it worse is watching all the fun intermission ads then watching footage like this! Bowling alleys, coffee shops - no places for dissidents to congregate during the takeover of America!

  • Kind of sad seeing a lot of drive ins being desrtoyed insted of people trying to save them. here's a list of 5 drive ins that iI remembered in my youth & what they are now

    (5) Lincoln drive in Buena Park...Townhomes,

    (4) Hi Way 39 drive in Huntington Beach...Wal*mart,

    (3) Los Altos.. Drive in Long Beach...car dealership & K mart,

    (2) Orange drive in Orange...shopping center &

    (1) Santa Fe Springs Drive in Santa Fe Springs...swap meet (but still intact!)

    SAVE THE REMAINING DRIVE INS!

  • They just tore down the M-78. I was lucky to go through it before it went down. I got a whole roll of tickets and letters from the marqee that spell my name that are now in my garage and a PG-13 sign. They tear them down because of the liability of someone getting hurt in them.

  • If they were really worried about liability, I don't think it would sat abandoned since 1992. I know a guy who slashed his leg open on one of the broken windows there. We call that the M-78 scar!

  • Do you remember when it burned down? I've been trying to pin down the date.

  • The NORTHSIDE had Tuesday Buck Night for years. In the early 70's, it was briefly an adult drive in. This was when the CREST across town was being sued and was showing family movies again. For a whole season, the NORTHSIDE had a 94 cent admission charge (radio promotion) and all season they played English dubbed Spanish Horror films. It's 10 min. intermission often ran for 20. The old screen tower burnt down with the stored fireworks ignited. Quite a show. 3 screens in the end. Great video!

  • What's worse is when they tear down a drive-in and then do NOTHING with the property; such as the Northside, Starlite and M-78 drive-ins in Lansing.

  • Tell me about it. They tear the drive-in down, the lot sits there for years and weeds over. I wish that drive-ins would make a come back.

  • you're soooooo right about that

  • John M. Gilbert, I am in 100% total agreement with you. Drive-In demolishing is SACRILEGE, especially when a shopping center or Wal-Mart is put up in its place. BOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

  • It should be against the law to demolish a drive-in

  • amen th that!

  • cool video

  • I grew up right down the street from the Northside and this brought back alot of memories.I can remember that they used to have firworks there sometimes. Cool video.
