who the hell makes their own version of a song ( take a little piece of my heart) and sings another version at their concert? ( why'd she sing janis' version?)
I personally like the real original of 'piece of my heart' better than the common Janis Joplin version- I think it was written by Erma Franklin, and it sounds more like Faith than Janis to me.
i like Faith's cover because it is beautifully sung. i like Janis, but I do not like her voice. she sounds like she swallowed a handfull of rocks after smoking a carton of Benson & Hedges.

No doubt faith is great, but this cover sucks. It lacks all the gut wrenching emotion that Janis Joplin put behind it. Not to mention wah-wah on the bass was a stupid idea. God it's a disgrace to Janis Joplin herself! If you've never seen Janis' version then you really should because this is nothing compared to that
Well... I respect your point of view yet I don't agree with it. The problem there is with covers is that fans of the 'original' artist always think the cover sucks. I am a huge Faith Hill fan and so I guess my reason is clouded my admiration to her, however I HAVE heard Janis' version and I don't like it. But I understand what you mean. If some young artist covered one of Faith's songs I know I would be like: "Ooooh, nooooo!!!!!!!!!". Anyway: everyone to their own tastes. :)
You know, I'm immensly glad that you took such a polite approach. I regret saying this cover sucks but I stand by it, what I mean is that as a song this is quite pleasant but because it's a cover it's not very good. The reason it isn't a good cover is because it doesn't covney the message of the song, I don't feel her pain in anyway, she sings without emotion but with skill. If you would like to make a rebutalle I would be glad to hear it :)

But I totally understand your point of view, it's absolutey normal to prefer the original version over the cover. An example: I love Carrie Underwood and Martina McBride to death, yet when Carrie covered Martina's "Independence day" I didn't like it because I was so used to Martina's version that I found Carrie's version weak.
The thing with Faith is that I absolutely LOVE every shingle song she sings because I love her voice and the emotion she puts into every single word she sings (yet I respect and uderstand people who think she sings emotionless). Well of course, but there are some keys elements that need to remain no matter who covers it. You can't take a sad song and give it a happy beat, it ruins the mood. Same with this blues piece turned country.
