This is a typical "news" from foreign reporters in Japan. They are always looking for strange news or things that they can make fun of Japan. As to this joke by Hatoyama's wife, most Japanese don't take it seriously because we know their characters and that Hatoyamas are "aliens" hahaha. From Japanese view, it's quite strange to see that foreign media, including CNN, is always exaggerating trifle matters or sending biased report on Japan on purpose.
