  • Ha, I disagree with everyone here, your comments show how much you don't know. This guy is obviously a master with advance skills. You think his punches and blocks lack power and speed, but the truth is they would devastate you. His whole body is behind each one, I don't know who this guy is but he is very good and your comments show how novice you really are. He is very relax which allows you to transfer the power from your hips into your strikes.

  • It's always good to see how other people move. I would not wish to disrespect a master in the art, but some people enjoy doing form more than others. Those that care to dig in and constantly improve their form will benefit as fighters. Those that do it out of duty...well... it's apparent when watching.

  • I'm sorry, but those were horrible forms.

    Clardy's a badass, but come on.....the forms...

  • Other than the exceptional forms ability of a Forms International Champion like San Soo Master Michael Rockwell, Daryl Clardy is about as proficient at San Soo Forms as the first generation guys ever got. (Mike was second generation Master from Master Jack Sera.)

  • San Soo forms are for helping to develop balance, timing and coordination vis a vis fighting technique. San Soo forms are not "pretty" in the traditional sense used by mainstream American martial artists.

But to a streetfighter of San Soo, they good pretty darn good.

    Ditto to "streeteffective and "NextGenKFSS08.

  • ..and developing power. You forgot power. lol

  • Crap!!.. San Soo guys coulda been form champions?! Wish I'd of known that.. coulda been a contender! And anybody who saw us kids at Master Larry Dusatko's school in the late 80's would probaby agree. But, i did get to do a hand form & 2 weapons forms for Jimmy once when a was a green belt.. and the nod of aproval i got from him after was worth more then any medal or trophy.

  • San Soo is so devasting, but man the forms are aweful.

  • I agree. Forms suck.

  • dude.. i grew up on San Soo forms & it helped out in every aspect of my San Soo training. But i never would done one for the talent show or anything. lol. Although i did hatva do them at after school daycare programs in my area were there were kids from my school.. but they were in daycare, so they couldn't say jack. lol

  • Wow, never thought I would see Daryl on here. He was my first instructor and I was his very first student.

  • nice, but do you do anything for multiple attackers when they both attack at the same time?

  • If you're Ron Gatewood, and teach your students to stay in the middle; then you get hit, eat a punch, get your teeth knocked out when multiple opponents attack at the same time. The correct answer is to take out the nearest threat, or the one holding a weapon, and try to direct his momentum into the next opponent, thereby using opponent #1 as a barrier against opponent #2.

  • In Ron Gatewood's book, "Kung Fu San Soo: Secret Art of the Fighting Monks," he has a chapter on fighting multiple opponents. The diagram that he uses to illustrate how he teaches others to fight multiple opponents has the defender going right up the middle; taking on all three opponents at the same time.

  • The correct answer is to go to your escape route (choosing one side over another); and directing the momentum of opponent #1 against the other two opponents (hopefully); and using opponent #1 as a barrier against opponents #2 & #3. Thereby, avoiding being surrounded on all sides.

  • Ron Gatewood's disingenuous, flippant answer (to this obvious extremely poor choice in tactics); was that it was the publishers fault, and not Ron Gatewood's. Really? The publisher is/was "Wal-Gate" publishing. An acronym for (Barbara) Wallace - (Ron) Gatewood. (Trying to achieve brand recognition by closely copying the name of "Wal-Mart.") The responsibility for the poor illustration example lies squarely on the shoulders of Ron Gatewood.
