  • They say only the good die young. Fred and Gene disprove that

  • Until they mentioned travelling with style I was thinking "What do dancers have to do with Western Airlines?"

  • would've been nice if they mentioned to each other the babbitt and the bromide. XD

  • wow, it's kind of breaking my heart to seem 'em old. Why do the good die so wonderful!!!!

  • Wow...never saw this. If this was 1985, Mr. Astaire was nearly 86 at filming and two years away from immortality....a wonderful and stylish coda for both him and Mr. Kelly.

  • Will the world ever again be on the receiving end of so very much beauty and grace?

Every child should have to watch their films until the age of 15. That would be enough culture for a lifetime.

  • lol, best commercial ever

  • bawwww D:

  • This makes me so sad b/c they were so awesome and both are gone now

  • @bmaze94 Yes, I felt tugging on my heartstings when I think about those two and all the wonderful entertainment they gave us! RIP guys you are missed.

  • What a contrast, eh, when you think about it... From the 1930's to the 1980's... Worlds apart...

Mind you, with the depression looming, we might be going back to visit the30's. :) I hope Fred and Ginger are there!

  • Two unsurpassed Masters in the Autumn of their lives ..... utterly charming. We will probably never see their likes again.

  • love love LOVE Gene and Fred!!!

  • "It's the only way to fly"... To me, their dancing was a hundred times more flying! They were amazing.

  • I remember this!

  • what characters! Both were truly fantastic stars!

  • adorable.

  • When I was little, I thought Fred said "not bad for a hooker on the road."

Haven't seen this in 20+ years. I love YouTube.

  • R.I.P. .... :(

  • dos grandes del baile de verdad nadie como ellos..sus musicales son los mejores ..dos artistas dignos de admiracion.

viviran siempre en los recuerdos de las nuevas generaciones que de verdad le den un caracter genial a el baile.

  • Gene Kelly can pull of "old" better than Fred Astaire... even though Fred Astaire is ancient compared to Kelly

  • oh how i wish i was alive in 1985 to see this.

  • @MrFunnyhair Oh how i wish i was alive in the 40s and 50s sometimes to witness that golden age of Hollywood

I'm only 4/5 decades too late though..

  • Gosh were they not utterly fabulous people? I hope Western Airlines (now defunct) paid them millions they are worth every penny. God bless em!

  • so cute!!!

  • surely the two greatest?

  • Love Love LOVE Fred Astaire!

  • Ahhhhh! :)

  • Isn't this a year before Fred passed?

He seems so frail, God love 'im.

  • @JM4EDR 2 years actually. He was 86 in this video.

  • @JM4EDR This was made in 1985. Fred left us 2 years later; Gene was around until 1996. Two of the best!!

  • god i love Fred Astaire, no matter what age. There's just something about his...idk the way he comes across, and he was such a modest man. Love him. I'm 23 and when i have kids i'll make sure they know who he is. Unlike ppl my age or even younger, in fact even older ppl. It's funny my family smiles at me when I'm watching classic movies, i enjoy them tremendously.

  • @lovejenie, God bless you.

  • @lovejenie It,s the only way people really never die and be forgotten because WE remember them. So tnx for passing it on to your children. If they not enjoy it so be it but at least you showed them ther,s more out there then modern music, etc ;-)

  • @Choefoe Very well said! This was great for youtube to post this & the PTSD training film. Awesome!

  • I love Gene!

  • How precious!

  • this is so sweet! :P

  • gene kelly still has that same smile ♥

  • Comment removed

  • ha ha, I bet he thought he'd never be working with Fred Astaire again! Stupendous!

  • I had never seen this... but this 30 seconds is better than some entire movies...

  • @tuxguys I agree, that just warmed my heart, don't movies take too long to get to the point?

  • This is brilliant! I lovve it!

Gene still looks great, as does Fred! :D

  • I remember flying by western in the 70'S and 80'S from Mexico city to LA .

    the big DC-10 .

    Memories..

  • my two favorites=)

  • awww this is one of the loveliest things i've ever seen

    i adore them

  • Even when they were older, they both were so cute!

  • the two gods of dance

  • Cute ad, but "travel in style?" On a dinky 737? Puh-leeze!

  • now this is nice

  • Great to see two legends together, but I have to say, I was more amazed at the SIZE of those seats! They were enormous! Was there ever a time when plane seats were THAT big? I've certainly never had the pleasure of sitting in any that size!

  • such charming men. they always have been. i love them :)<3

  • such charming men. they always have been. i love them :)<3

  • can you say adorable?? hahaha.

  • That was really strange...

  • smooth

  • Uhhnnn... they did not dance...

  • @jerryaltman with what in their age? walkers?

  • ...SO COOL!!...and they look the same...just a little bit more grey...

  • This is great, I just love them ; )

  • Omg this is too too cute!

  • :DDDDDDDD Thank you, thank you, thank you for this!!!! They were too cute together for words, even when they were older.

  • That's awesome!

  • This is GREAT!!!

love both of them. They still looked so great in 1985! Isn't that Marvelous? I love their language, so amiable.

  • Oh my goodness, that was adorable lol I love it when old timers retain some of their outdated lingo: "fella," "kid," "hoofer."

  • @yellowsummerdress Hello, we still say "fella" (especially in rap lyrics)& "kid", but may be not "hoofer"! But I agree, hella-cute, for real.

  • @hellasexy22 Haha woops, that's true, but they meant something different back then, you know? The use and context changed. Like "kid": here, it's a term of endearment, but now it's more often used as an informal synonym for "child." :) All the same, Gene and Fred were adorable ^_^

  • I don't think that airline flew in my part of the country, so I never saw it. Cute!

  • I never knew of this.

  • I never knew these two did a commercial together!

  • I wish someone posted on YouTube 1950's/1960's/1970's Western Airlines commercials with the WALLY mascot.
