@AndysGuitarSolos this is not an authentic gibson or ephiphone but i think in a general extent this golden guitar can resemble much of the special characteristics that set a les paul model apart from a stratocaster model, which are the presence of hambucking pickups, and the body shape, but specially the pickups. Just hear the audio, the two tonal qualities of these pickups are like opposite worlds. Even with cheap guitars you can demonstratwe that, and this was the purposehere
Strats are the coolest looking guitars. Need a humbucker ? Throw in a hotrails. Go to the fender site and look at the American deluxe in the pewter color with a maple neck . SEXY ! Or look at the 50's road worn...or the 50's classic. Les Pauls are just starting to look dated . Sound ? With all the modeling technology you can make a strat sound like a zakk wylde LP with EMG's. Nice jam.
I think it depends on what sound you want to emulate... strat is best to start with though because it is good for just about everything.... then you switch to les paul if you found that your style calls for one, same goes for jazz hollow bodies and semi hollowbodies and just any type of guitar.... start with a strat, which is like grade school, then when you graduate you go to college and get the guitar your major (style) calls for

Both axes are totally different, I love both. I use Strats for more bluesy playing mainly and then my LP for when I feel like kicking ass. However, you could kick ass on Strats too. Happy shredding:)

Hate strat necks but love the sustain and seems their tension is a lot lower. Pretty sweet for blues or bend based solos (like David Gilmour). But I like the single coils for certain playing.IMO,LP's have the fastest necks and the humbuckers can growl and scream about anything your heart desires. I think if you want more versatility, then go for the Strat, but just because it can do more doesn't mean it can do it better. Gibson is my favorite, but they're each better suited for different styles.
@askmehow25 I think the stock pickups suck in almost every squier except fpr the classic vibe ones of course. the lower lines like california, affinity, bullet etc generally feature very weak pickups

I have something against the use of hambuckers. I think they make everything too easy when you´re playing. Also, the single coil pickups seem more balanced to me, and I think they give a wider range of tone - from muddy bass for rhythm to sharp-cutting-edge treble for solos, passing thru the middle. Sorry tfor the painful english.
I like this color of strat with the maple neck as well, but if you want my advice, don´t buy squiers, cause they are lies. this squier only makes me unhappy and makes me long for a real strat. save money and buy a better strat.
