I am a lifelong music lover and record collector, but I must admit with regret that this is the only record I ever smashed on pourpose. As a youngster, I used to think the heavy breathing was kind of creepy, and my older brother used to overplay this song just to drive me crazy. One day he just played it one too many times and I smashed it into 10 pieces. We taped it back together as a joke ... 36 years later I still have it, in a bag. I like the song better today, I kind of miss it now.
great song i first heard this song in 1975 from my aunt's record collection about ten years later i've found a copy of this record and got for25cents and i still got it keep playing great stuff like this thanks wfarrar69
Nothing like the Golden Oldies. They never will make music like this ever again. I'm glad it's around on places like YouTube so the young people of today will be able to hear and enjoy it.
I suspect the "Big 8" jingle at the start of this clip refers to the legendary CKLW in Windsor, Ontario (across the river from Detroit), which during the 1960's was a hugely-popular station throughout Michigan, Southern Ontario, Northern Ohio, and Northwest Pennsylvania.
What a signal CK had!
I believe that for a while in the late sixties, CKLW was ranked #1 not only in Windsor and Detroit, but in Toledo, Cleveland, and Erie, too!
Never before heard of this dude but noticed a reference to him on a showbill displayed on You Tube's " Nuggets from the Liverpool Five ( Part 1)" where there is some really good other stuff.
@reshea1950 On Billboards, it hit No. 8, while here in L.A., it hit No. 1 for one week, but I can't be sure; You Really Turn Me On was hip in May & June of 1965.
Thanks for the post. Thought I had lost this song from the sexy sixties. It's the type of song that goes on & on inside your head. This English chap (Ian) was I recall a very tall bloke.
That's no lady! That's my song!

After The Ball is a great book - Ian's sense of humour comes through in everything he does.

We LOVE Ian Whitcomb. His new music is great too. Did you know he's a writer as well? He's so talented.

one of the very few top five oldies that I don't remember ever hearing.
davesharon5747 3 years ago
opps, I mean top ten. It only reached #8 on the charts in 1965. Sorry about that.
davesharon5747 3 years ago
And It only reached #8 because it was banned in many Southern Cities because of his Orgasmic Panting.
