GENERAL HOSPITAL is supposed to be about the hospital. It's now focused on the mob. It should be called MOB STORY. All of the characters that made the show a success is gone. Laura, Alan, Bobbie, Lila, Scotty, Lucy, Frisco, Felicia. There's many more. The vets that are on today like Edward, Tracy, Monica, Mac, etc, don't have much to do. It's all centered around Sonny's mob world. SO SAD!!

Back then you had, "Stone's AIDS",

I could not agree with you more... it sucks that really ALL the ABC soaps were at a creative peak during the mid-90s when I was in college and was SUPPOSED to be 100% focused on my degree... LOL! Anyway, from the "Loving" Murders to AMC's Tad coming back from the dead, Janet vs. Natalie, OLTL's Todd vs. Marty, Max/Luna/Blair, Viki's personalities... WOW, those were the days!!!! Oh, and the aforementioned GH good stuff!

Hurts when laura says "GH honors their own history" Well not anymore, thanks to guza's character assasinations (so to speak) and ripping up gh for assss wipe...the show is no longer the same. Looong live the days of old!

@Incandesent so very true...when Laura said how wonderful it was that GH "honors their own history" I had to cringe when thinking of how the last several years they've done nothing but crap on their own history.....the '90's really were the last days of vintage GH storytelling with wonderful characters and stories centered around issues and relationships the viewer cared about and that were developed organically on-screen

That's Jonathan Jackson. He was the first actor who played Lucky Spencer (Luke & Laura's son) in the 90's. He is usually considered the "one and only Lucky Spencer".

He was one of the greatest kid actors on GH from back then!

I used to watch GH during the 90's when I was a little kid because my parents used to watch it.

GH back then had so much: Stone's AIDS, BJ's heart, Sonny & Brenda, the return of the Cassadines, the Quartermains, AJ's drinking problem, Jason's car accident, Ryan the serial killer, Lucy & Kevin, the Nurses Ball, Elizabeth's rape,... and my personal favorite the ORIGINAL Lucky & Elizabeth!

1998 was probably the last GREAT year for General Hospital. They had some of the BEST storylines and characters during this time. I stopped watching after Jonathan Jackson left and was replaced in '99. That was a sad sight!!!

"Steve Hardy as a character was the foundation of our show - he set a great example for all of us." - what a hilarious comment from Steve Burton, considering his character is a contract killer and psychopath, everything against what Steve Hardy represented. The show as it is today, glorifying the pitifully twisted and depraved in all their gangland violence, is something of an insult to John Beradino.

I wasn't born back then. I had only seen a couple episodes with him on them when he died n '96. But I think Steve Burton meant the character was what they aspired 2 b, not just the good, the inspiring, the real, the honest. There r alot of horrible characters on the show but they that don't fit n2 any of the molds but Jason is @ least some of these things. You have 2 remember the world isn't what it was back then & w/ the changes n society changes n entertainment.
