  • Wow! You are very good!! I'm 22 and started to play the cello in Feb... Wished I started earlier! I'm still having a hard time with the bow hold (I'm a fiddler and hold it like I would hold a fiddle's :\ )

  • @frenchcanadian1989 Thanks! I know how you feel, I started at 10, and even that was late in the music world. I felt so behind!

My violin friends always try to play my cello and have such a hard time getting the grip right. Good luck! :)

  • WOW FINALLY SOMEONE WHO PUTS THERE BOW IN THE MIDDLE. I play cello and my teacher always tells me to put my bow in the middle to make ur arm move better so ya pretty much thx for convenience !!!

  • I love this! I'm playing this song for a contest coming up this Saturday. Wanted to hear what it sounded like played by another cellist besides my teacher. Good work! Sounds awesome!

  • This is awesome! I play violin. What size cello are you playing in the vid, out of curiosity?

  • @Mona1isa Thanks! I'm playing a 3/4 cello there. And yay for Orch Dorks! :)

  • I have to play this for a Radio Compition in November! It's hard at first and feels uncomfortable because of the speed, I always think I'm going to slow or fast. How long did you practice this for?

  • @madig100 Good luck!!! Probably about 7 or so months...I'm not positive though.

  • I dont like the piece (heck I dont like a lot of the classical stuff) but you play just wondefully!

  • that was really good! But i don't think it's meant to be played quite that fast. ^^ Much better than me though!

  • @ForeverCellist Thank you! I agree about the speed. I think I was still to young to be comfortable with slow and heart felt yet. Funny how its just the opposite now. :)

  • AMAZING!! i play cello my self. i like the slow part best.

  • damnnnnnnnnn dats good!!!!!!!!! i have 2 learn dis song for my cello solo!!!!!!!!!! got any tips in how to do dis????

  • Wow thanks!!! :D

Hmmm...tips. RELAX! Make sure you're right shoulder isn't doing anything. Loosen the hand, try to minimize the motion of your arm. Try for only the hand to be moving. Good luck! :D

  • Thanx!!!!! i hope i pass!! :D

  • :D Thanks!

  • U play very well. I tried out for a scholar ship with for my cello the other day...

  • Thank you! How did it go?

  • I think it went well.... (I hope so anyways...)

  • = ). The player is usually the hardest grader, so if you think you did well, then I'm sure you did amazing! = )

  • thanks!

  • :) We had to play this in our orchestra class for getting our chairs. You played it very well!

  • Thanks! You got first chair, right? = )

    and thanks!

  • good luck!

  • you are very good! I have been playing for almost 6 years now and im 14! I love your wrist during the song. You play the fast passages exceptionally well, what is your rountine for practicing and how often do you practice?

  • i played this song a while ago. like i've been playing for a year and i'm book four-ish. :) good job:)

  • Thanks! Keep it up!

  • Yeah at one year to be in book three with vibratto is impressive. I pretty much hate you. ;)

  • Thank You!!! don't hate me, I'm a nice person, really!! = )

  • Good Luck! You should tape it and upload it to YouTube. Thank you again! = )

  • Hi! In this video I was 11. I'm turning 13 in two months.

Thank you!!!! Gracias!!!!I love meeting cellists!

Your English is wonderful for a 13 year old! I've started learning Spanish this year, so of course, I'm not nearly as good as you are. = )

  • A one year player...*stands and gawks* impressive.

  • Thank you!!!!!!!! That just made my day. = )

  • wow you won SYMF!!!!! i did that one year and completely failed haha. i need to practice like you do!

  • Thanks!

  • cool, my friend came first in the eastern reigon music festival and i came in 3rd!!

  • Wow! What song did you play? I had to compete against one of my friends once. I came in 4th, she came in 3rd. = )

  • Wow. You can play this song much better than I can. lol. Timing was a little off in a couple spots, but you got back on track. Horray!

  • Thanks!

  • the best performance of this song on you tube!!!!!very jolly and nicely played

    congratulations stephanie!!!

  • Thank you very much!

  • Nice :)

  • you have an amazing vibrato

for playing a year, this is really good.

  • Thank you so much!

  • Thank You! I appreciate it!

  • that is awsome stephanie. I love the cello too. Hey My name is stephanie too. I just got done with my 1st recidal. and i played March in G. You are better at the cello than me. But I just started playing the cello this year. I started in August this year.

  • Wow! What an amazing coincidence! How did you do at your recital? When I looked back at my first recital, (that was about a year and a half ago) I was wincing at how bad I was. The only good thing about that is that I know that in a year and half, I've improved a lot. Good Luck on your next song!

  • A friend of mine asked me to play this song for him a few weeks ago, and I have no idea how, but I remembered it! I stumbled a little in the beginning, but after almost a year without playing it, I can still play this piece.

    Thank You!

  • im doing this peiece for a festival im going to get graded out of 28 and your doing sooooooo gooood i hope you will be on tv or somtin doing some long peiece that would be sweet keep celloing i am also worried becasue im not as good as you for the fest.

  • = ) That would be amazing if I were on TV. I know though, that if I were to accomplish that, I would thank everyone who watched me on my first YouTube video.= )

Good luck at your festival! Just pretend you're playing for your friend or teacher. Your not in some unknown room, but in your home, practicing ti for the one-millionth time. Thats what I did, and it really helped. My mom was more nervous than I was. You can do it!

  • Wow O_O, you're great...

I'm working on this piece (and just started) for solo fest, any tips on how to keep your bowing matched with the fingers? I usually start out good, but then it starts to get all jumbled =/...

    Bravo =]......

  • = ) Thanks. That was my biggest problem after I finally got the bowing down. Getting those fingers to match up with the bowing. All I have to say is turn on a metronome and go slowly. In the beginning, if it's hard to do the fast bowing with the slow tempo, just play single notes, regular bowing. Then as you speed it up when you've got it at the slower tempo, you can go back to fast sixteenth notes. Yup, it's horribly boring, but it is so much fun to play it once you've got it. Good luck!

  • OMG! steffi u keep on rocking girly! luv u so much! Hey its carolina! U just gotta go pro! u truly love the cello and I know that someday I will see you on tv doing some crazi good carulli or mozart performance! we have to get a song for both guitar and cello so that we can do some sort of a queen interprataion of "Save me" or somthing else like that! You truly dont no how great u r at your istrument, and it equally matches how great a friend u r! : )

  • Flaroline, I don't know what to say. Trust me, when I'm on TV, you'll be on my list of Thank-yous. Stefan is pushing for a violin and cello duet, so your going to have to get in line for that Queen interpretation.. = )

    Love ya!

    Fluffy

  • I'm doing this peice for recital and i am not as good as you...

I am worried after seeing this video because you are so good!

  • Well Done !! I think you have real talent and you could becone a great proffesional. I couldn't play that on my violin and you played it really really well . GREAT JOB !!! =)

  • Wow! Thank you so much! That definitely gives me some motivation. My teacher sometimes asks me, "What are you going to be when you grow up?"

If I hesitate, he tells me how it would be a waste of talent not to become a cellist.= )I guess I don't have a choice. = ) Not that I would want to be anything else.... oh wait, I could be an author or a scientist of a teacher of-....you get my point. But you definitely put one point for cellist in my head. Thanks again!

  • good intonation, bowing, etc.... a little off-key on the shifting and a few notes, but other than that pretty amazing (especially considering that I'm 14 and can't play this piece worth crap)

  • Hey, I WAS nervous. = ) When I'm not, I promise those notes are in tune!!! = )

Thanks! It took me months, but it finally was good enough to be played in public. = )

  • coolness. how old were u at this point anyway?

  • I had just turned 11 2 months before this concert.

  • omg! i played that some years ago! i liked that song :)

    btw, ur good!

  • Thanks! I've gotten so many messages from people saying that they used to play that song too, and all of them like it. What I love about it is that it has fast, sixteenth notes and slow, smooth longer notes. It has everything. Thanks again!

  • yeahh! its awesome :)

  • = ) It took me forever to get it, but when you finally can do it, its so rewarding!!! When I did get it, I was playing it over and over again because I was having so much fun! I didn't even like this song when I started it, but now I love it! Good luck with the piece!

  • Quiet, peaceful music..... nice... u know what i'm getting at... Nice

  • I know its not your type of music, but it is my type, so whatever!!! = )

Thank you from the bottom of my heart...!!! = )

  • I thought it was calm n peaceful. that's how all clasical music should sound. Like urs. (only on the cello, not piano... that's different.)

  • well, thanks you ricko, i appreciate your kindness that failed to be portrayed in your previous comment. TTYS! Steffie

  • Riko, thank you. NOT ricko, that would never be my name, if it was, I'd change it. Again. Peaceful. and calm........

  • Thank you very much! I've been working on making my bow arm closer to the bridge. My muscle memory isn't making it easy, but who said it was going to be easy to play the cello? = ) I did do the metronome exercise after this recital, and it really produce amazing results. Its amazing how some parts of practicing are so simple, and yet they work so effectively! Thank you again!

  • Hahaha!!!!! Thanks so much!♥♥♥

  • Very nicely done!

  • Thank you very much!

  • Congratulations! Great performance for a young "woman" your age! Did you learn to play cello with Sevan Pogosyan? Do you practice every day? How long do you play when you practice?

  • Yes, I study with Sevan Pogosyan. I have classes every week with him.

    I practice an hour everyday.

  • do you play another instrument?

  • Yes, I've been playing the piano for 6 years.
