These amps are well designed and use decent components but it is a bit of a piss take when you sick union jacks all over your amps, manuals and website when all your products are made in korea!
I just got one of these amps (actually the head version) and I'll tell you that it is AMAZING! It has a very tight and percussive bottom and a chimey top end while being extremely touch sensitive. It is REALLY loud. I have been using it on the 10watt setting and it is still loud. I have a 100 watt Marshall JMP and the Blackstar is probably louder.
best F'n amp I've ever owned! had to get use to the no effects loop cuz i use my amp for distortion and usually put my delay in an effects loop. but the A30 combo sounds so f'n good, i don't want an effects loop in it!
anybody recomend a delay pedal that can go in front of the amp?
3. we need companies like yours to rise up & fill the market place with fun, rich sounding products that are made for musicians to USE. I know you have to make money, but it seems like your first goal is SOUND & Durability. You have the right formula. I cheer Divided By 13, 65 Amps, Dr. Z, Victoria...and now Blackstar. Keep making the top of the line stuff, and cheers for making the affordable stuff too. - J
Chinese workers are effectively indentured servants, while Koreans are proud crafts people. That has to be showing up in the fit & finish of Blackstar amps. So far its the A-30 that I have focused on. World class. Worth every penny. But how amazing is it that the $600 20watt amp from the other line sounds nearly as good? I assume you pay your guys well as well as treat them with dignity. I get the feeling you love coming to work. Korg products are nowhere near what they represent today. We need
Hey Ian, I'm not sure how many of you are ex Marshall or what the exact story is, but I have to say your company seems really, really great. First of all, you guys are the 1s who should design amp circuits for the world. yes there should be a few Californians and Texans thrown in there too (like Fred Tacone) but in general, I want to hear what the ears of Northampton have for me. I love how you have amps for all levels of budget & application. I love that you chose South Korea instead of China
I can't believe that a company this young and modern, building these superior amps, acutally has videos in such an appalling quality on youtube.
Go record them again or upload them in higher quality, people should really hear about you and your amps. Here in Germany for example, you're far to unknown!
if you use the natural overdrive of the amp and want some reverb(pedal) and don't want that to put it between your guitar and the artisan (because you don't want to reverb to be overdrived...) you cannot have a reverb !
class A refers to the power amp. the effects loop goes between the preamp and the phase inverter. so why the smeg would an effects loop prevent class A operation? Though considering its 30watts I'd say its more likely to become class AB when you crank it up.
What?? The effects loop goes between the preamp and the phase inverter. It would NOT have any bearing on the poweramp design as you generally use valves to separate the load from the circuit. Though given its 30 watt power rating I'd guess it's actually class AB when you crank it up. (I think AB is often better than A in the amps I've heard)
i'm going to by a prs singecut .. the SE .. which amp do you guys think would fit the best .. this or the Mesa Boogie Express 5:50 .. I'm looking for lots of sustain and awesome distortion and a nice clean tone .
I play power blues ( mix of rock, blues and "metal") kinda like gary moore, slash and guys like that .
dude!!! prs are fantastic guitars. just not the SE models. i owned one of the ones with double cuts. the machine heads were rubbish! as was the tremolo. tbh with your type of music i would suggest a fender strat. my guitar has a PERFECT GNR tone.
i played through one of these amps in belfast. the think i hate is that the different channels are not pedal controlled. they have different inputs, like the old fenders.
check out the fender hotrod deville 410! or if you have money, the supersonic
Surely a great sounding amp but it could sound better again in featuring an alnico speaker. It's a shame the Celestion Vintage 30 wont the market one more time. I'm sure in such an amp the Eminence Red Fang that is not a lot more expensive would be better.
With the pricetag it has it should be Incredible. However i totally agree that this amp is just fantastic. Just tested it at my local music center it rocked the shit out of me. Too bad the Strat i was playing had rusted strings.
i tried one of these amplifiers today. awesome sound. however very expensive for 30 watts! i was considering this or a fender hot rod deville. have you tried one of these? if so how would you compare it?
the thing that put me off this was the way it wasnt controlled by a pedal. as far as i know there wasnt a pedal input to it. id imagine that to be a nightmare
I have the A30. This vid is good at showing the clean sounds but doesn't show how it really sings out when you push it, specially with the HT Boost pedal.
Yes, I have Lollar Single Coils (Strat) The Most Powerful Pup's Lollar Winds Himself... The TONE is Marvelous! Exciting Awseome! Fresh! Beautiful Wicked Mojo Tone SRV All Of It!!!!!!!! AND MORE! Doc
I'm playing this Artisan 30 with a '63 Jag and can't recommend it enough.
The best feature is the channel blending. It gives you loads of options, for example you can get a great clean Fender tone and back it up on the other channel with a bit of Marshall thump.
Who worked the Sound on this Demo...Man it Doesn't do the Blackstar Justice at All!...The Artisan 30 is one fine sounding Amplifier! Re-Do It!
I have a Friend that is going to take the plunge and get that HUGE Marshall JVM 410h
Not Impressed...It's Pricey too @$2559 and it's a PCB NIGHTMARE! Better get a Damn Good Warranty!!!Does it come with Casters like the BS? Will need them!
the bridge pickup on his strat is a humbucker - a hot one too. He should have mentioned that in this vid to give folks a better reference. I only caught it bc he mentioned in the the A15 video.
There seems to be mic compression or something else as well as youtube compression (two completely different types of compression one audio the other data) because the later Blackstar demo's sound MUCH better.
make it with a printed curcuit so everyone can afford it please!

Why does the Stage 100 head not have a Mid control for the clean channel? But the OD1 & OD2 does?

You should have the clips on your own site, does the amp no justice.
The sound on you tube is terrible
